dog time AKA the only reason i've been managing not to overwork myself
death of the author except when its funny
I was getting pretty fed up with links and generators with very general and overused weapons and superpowers and what have you for characters so:
Here is a page for premodern weapons, broken down into a ton of subcategories, with the weaponâs region of origin.Â
Here is a page of medieval weapons.
Here is a page of just about every conceived superpower.
Here is a page for legendary creatures and their regions of origin.
Here are some gemstones.
Here is a bunch of Greek legends, including monsters, gods, nymphs, heroes, and so on.Â
Here is a website with a ton of (legally attained, donât worry) information about the black market.
Here is a website with information about forensic science and cases of death. Discretion advised.Â
Here is every religion in the world.Â
Here is every language in the world.
Here are methods of torture. Discretion advised.
Here are descriptions of the various methods used for the death penalty. Discretion advised.
Here are poisonous plants.
Here are plants in general.
Feel free to add more to this!
An exceedingly useful list of lists for writers.

TIL that NASA has been launching jellyfish into space since the 90âs. Originally 2,478 were sent up and there were 60,000 orbiting Earth by the missionâs end 20 years later. The jellyfish that have returned reportedly âhate life on Earth.â

Go you want to birth an Eldridge horror? This is how you birth an Eldridge horror
I want to know how they decided that they hate life on earth
I mean, who doesnât
The âjellyfish that have returnedâ are the offspring of the ones sent up; they âhate life on Earthâ because they were born into a world without gravity - no direction, different kinds of pressure, so when they return they have trouble adapting and (according to the Read More in the source) âJellyfish babies, at least, have to deal with massive vertigo on Earth after spending their first few days in space,â which you can tell because you can measure how disoriented a jellyfish is compared with norma behavior. TL;DR your cthulu is an infant with a migraine
I have SO MANY questions, re:the jellyfish space habitat.
I mean I guess itâs probably just an airtight aquarium on board the ISS, but I read it the first several times as the jellyfish were just floating in open space.
tbh when I read âNASA has been launching jellyfish into space for yearsâ my initial mental image was just NASA with a giant slingshot flinging jellyfish after jellyfish into the voidÂ

âHere is what the sea smells like. It is more texture than scent, because the sea is primarily made of two substances that have no smell of their own: water and salt. Salt has no smell, but makes the air sting, and so all of the other smells of the sea are layered upon the pang of salt. Water has no smell but instead a comfort. We feel moisture as life and so the smells of the ocean are layered upon the contentment of the water. Salt is treble and water is bass. I donât know how I know this is true, but I know it is true. The sea smells like old wood and wet leaves. Like cold mud and warm stone. Like every creature who has ever lived in it, a churning graveyard and nursery. Like winds from the inland carrying the hot circulation of life and winds from the ocean carrying the distant froth of waves against ships and islands. Like gray, only more so. Like blue, only less so.â

weird little man
shit iâve heard chemistry majors say
- *student in a lab coat, cutting in the cafeteria line* YOU DONâT UNDERSTAND I DONâT HAVE A LOT OF TIME MY EXPERIMENT IS GOING TO CATCH FIREEEE
- *loud pop* Â Â student, in very calm voice: well that was painful
- lab assistant, seeing me frantically pulling on gloves: oh no. what did you do now
- professor: come on guys, donât hate on social sciences majors⌠itâs not their fault they were born this way
- so i was grading your tests last night. i wanted to kill someone.
- you have five minutes until the end of class to finish the test. but i want to go outside for a smoke, so three
- *section of lab report titled âapplications of compoundâ* i heard that a drug cartel used it to dissolve bodies, should i list that?
- âiâm synthesizing this compound in my next lab class, what kind of stuff effects the success rate and yield?â âdunno man, it depends on your karmaâ
- based on my recent lab assignments, i have come to the conclusion that the professor wants me dead
- dude, Fehlingâs solution contains glucose, what if it tastes like lemonade? Â *proceeds to dip finger in and lick it* Â well that was a disappointment. the potassium hydroxide makes it kinda bitter.
- professor: youâll understand this concept in your fifth year  student: sir, this is a four-year program  professor: oh, then never
it wasn't "some reason", it was 2D animators being unionized and 3D not being unionized. and the simple truth that capitalism kills art.
I remember when 2D faded out, the reason studios kept giving was "it's because 2D is a lot more expensive to produce". I was a child back then so I didn't think too much about it, assuming it was about the process itself, but as I grew up and learned more about art as an artist, and gained friends who were professional 3D artists themselves, I started to question it. Because 3D is very different from 2D, but it's definitely not easier or faster to make. Also, both European and Asian studios kept producing 2D animated movies
The answer was unions. The answer wasn't "this kind of art is cheaper because it's easier to make", it was "this kind of art is cheaper because these artists can't force us to pay them correctly"

Bust sketch commissions of the Primary Dragons (and I think a couple others) for @theloverofdragons
Had a lot of fun interpreting their facial features and personalities. Thanks for the opportunity to play around with them!
(I think Glacier in particular could've used a more fun expression now that I know, but he still looks good imo so maybe that's ok.)
