When I see the phrase “~two weeks later~” I die a little inside.

I... hmm... this is an interesting take.
Can you elaborate?
Yeah! So like, one example a while back was when I was reading a hurt/comfort story. The traumatized character was rescued and brought to the rescuer’s house, and after only a few brief paragraphs of showing them around the house the author time skipped two weeks ahead.
And I was like, wait! No! We didn’t even get to see the traumatized character settle in and experience the safety of their own bed for the first time or anything?!
So those kind of instances.
I don’t really read many stories that bridge hundreds of years so that probably is just a difference of preferences.
I’m cool with a day or two inbetween most things but don’t want to feel like I’m missing out on something I wanted to see if that makes sense.
Like if the story were following a pregnant character obviously I don’t want every single day documented, time skips would make sense there, but I still wanna see details throughout 🤷🏼♀️

Had to take my toddler to urgent care last night for some upper respiratory stuff cause he was wheezing like crazy. And they started explaining how they needed to give him a duo neb and that I’d need to take this little canister of albuterol home and administer it every four hours.
And I’m nodding along quickly, actually recognizing all the words they’re saying.
And they’re like “Wait, is he asthmatic?”
Me: “No! No…I just spent several hours researching asthma as a way to better torture my fictional characters.”
Doctor: “…”
Me: “I’m a writer.” 🤓
I love reading fics on AO3.
I love chapters that are 30k words long and absolutely chaotic.
I love chapters that are 500 words long and easy to squeeze in.
I love original works and works with minimal views and only one kudos.
I just love to read.
