Post-Sly 5: Do You Remember That Time In Egypt?
Sly's quaint London apartment was simple in layout enough for him to relax following his time in Halden Prison. The sleeper sofa was there in case Annette or anyone else opted to visit him. As of now, though, Annette was on her smartphone, making a call to her legal guardian.
"Don't worry, Detective Fox," the lop rabbit reassured her. "He's keeping his distance from you and his cane. After everything, I guess he doesn't want a repeat of what happened in Paris."
A pause while the Detective replied back to her.
"Okay, I'll be back in about four days from now," Annette told her. "I'll make sure it counts."
They said their goodbyes and ended the call through tapping the end button on the touch screen.
"Hey, Sly. Where should we-?"
Although she tried to ask her father figure where in London they should go to first, the rabbit soon found he was not in the living room.
It took a bit of searching, but when she opened the door to his bedroom, she found it comfortably dark. He was snuggled under the blue blanket of his bed and taking a nap. Annette just smiled at his relaxed expression. His titled ears, those quiet snores...seeing him like this brought back a fond memory of when they first connected.
So, she slipped away and changed into the purple flannel pajamas she brought along for the trip. The rabbit tried her best not to wake him when she crawled into his bed. Upon trying to get under the covers, the feeling of cool air caused the raccoon's ear to twitch and made him stir. His brown eyes cracked open halfway to see her lying down beside him.
"Annie...? Sly asked with a slight slur.
The rabbit shushed him in response, though not unkindly.
"Go back to sleep," she told him with a warm smile.
"What're you...?" he tried to ask. "I thought..."
"Don't worry, I just got done calling Detective Fox," she said. "But when I saw you like this, it brought back memories."
"Memories?" he questioned.
"You know, Ancient Egypt..." she reminded him. "When I woke you up from a nightmare that night."
The raccoon soon realized what she was talking about and smiled. Annette got a look at his messy fur and light blue pajamas. Seeing Sly as a civilian rather than a thief took some getting used to. His time in Halden Prison ensured a smooth transition to a law-abiding citizen. Unforunately, Carmelita insisted they remain apart for the time being. Something about wanting him to remain on good behavior for his parole officer.
"Funny. I was thinking about that time, too," he noted.
"You lying with me and just brushing off the world for now. Looking back, I feel like that's what life's truly about. And how much I don't regret hanging up my mask and cane."
"It was during the Cooper Vault job sometime back. I seriously thought I was going to die at one point. I wanted to tell Carmelita how I felt straight up. How I did it wasn't the best way to do it, but I genuinely retired once I left Kaine Island."
"And then you had to stop Le Paradox. I guess everything worked out in the long run, though."
Annette smiled at his admission. That moment was broken when a yawn came from Sly shortly afterward.
"Right. I'm lying on a decent bed," he noted.
"We've got nowhere to be right now," she told him. "I don't mind staying here with you."
Sly gave off a warm smile and let her come close to him. They settled in and he tucked the covers under both of them. As he began to relax, the raccoon gave off a content purr.
