So tired of this dissociation we think we might have either split or some old parts have been activated. Also we've had massive headaches. We've had no sense of identity for days, but it seems like it might be returning in small amounts. We can feel some alters now but idk it's like no one is fronting. Or I have no identity. I feel like some of them are trying to front now, but it's like they can't take control. Like there's a wall between them and the front. I am feeling like im about to switch rn. But it just isn't happening. My head is heavy like im about to switch. So annoying

yesterday we found out our new psychiatrist doesn't know the difference between schizotypal and schizoid, so now we don't know what she's diagnosing us with 💀

she's only said schizotypy and then we were like "we feel like it's very serious to diagnose us with a psychotic disorder that might develop into schizophrenia if we don't have the symptoms for that, and we are nervous that symptoms of something like autism will be misinterpreted as schizo-spec and we will receive the wrong treatment" and then she says "oh, no you don't have schizotypal disorder, that's different from schizotypal *personality* disorder" and i have to be like.... "no, they are just classified differently in the DSM and ICD, so in the US it's a PD, but internationally it's a schizo-spec disorder" and she's like "no, we also have schizotypal personality disorder here and it's also called schizoid personality disorder" DUDE NO IT LITERALLY ISN'T!!! OPEN THE ICD-10 BEHIND YOU!!!!! THEY ARE LITERALLY DIFFERENT DISORDERS!!!!!!!

I hate delayed amnesia so much. I’ll go through a whole day thinking I’m “fine” and fully present, and then hours later it hits me like—wait… I don’t remember anything from today. It feels like my whole day just slips through my fingers.

I’d like to think I’m staying relatively co-conscious with our other alters/fragments, but then once they leave, I lose nearly—if not all—of the memory afterward. It’s so disorienting.

I think I know how this works.

For personal context, before I went to the '98 Burning Man festival, one of the things I'd read from a couple different journalists was that "everybody" runs around naked. Which, fine by me, I'd already spent a lot of time in clothing-optional spaces, I'm not fanatic about it but it's nice.

So I got there early and set up a public shade structure on one of Black Rock City's main roads and spent most of each afternoon just watching the crowds go by. I don't remember seeing more than one actually naked person the whole week. I think a topless woman passed by my intersection maybe every half an hour, sometimes once an hour. So why in the hell were people, normally pretty smart and observant writers, coming away with the impression that everybody was naked?

Then I remembered an unrelated passage from Joel Garreau's great book about the history of the outer-ring suburbs, Edge City. Mall developers told him flat-out that they tried to keep the crowds in their malls less than 5% black. Not because they themselves were racist, but because they had determined, experimentally, that if more than 5% of the people in the mall are black, the median white shopper will wrongly describe the mall as at least half black, as mostly black. And not a few of them would describe it, at 6% black, as a mall where "only black people go." Why?

Because, emotionally, they were still upset over the last one when the next one came into view.

Same as the journalists describing Black Rock City as all naked. Same as the right-wing religious culture warriors describing television as entirely mixed-race and gender non-conforming. Not because it's even vaguely true, we know that, but because they haven't gotten over their discomfort over the last one by the time the next one comes along. The anger, not the stimulus, is the part that's continuous, so their mind lies to them that it's "all" the thing they can't get over.

Examples:

-Gatekeeping trauma that doesn't seem "severe" enough (ie; emotional abuse, touch starvation, peer abuse, friendship breakups, etc.) -Blaming trauma survivors for their experiences, or deciding it was "deserved" based on negative actions. (Ie; "That serial killer deserved to be beaten as a child, I am glad they suffered through that.") [Disclaimer: Trauma doesn't excuse shitty actions, but praising a person's trauma just shows other trauma survivors who went through the same thing that you only care if they are "moral enough" for you.] -Fakeclaiming or policing trauma survivors due to having "unpalatable" or "unrealistic" trauma responses. -Treating trauma survivors as weak/pathetic. -Undermining trauma survivors agency and autonomy. -Infantilizing trauma survivors. -Adultifying minor trauma survivors, or treating trauma survivors [of any age] as "beyond their years." -Expecting trauma survivors to undergo painful recovery processes before they are ready and/or against their will. -Telling trauma survivors that what they experienced made them "stronger" or had a "purpose." -Expecting trauma survivors to be leaders or lonewolves (nothing wrong if thats what the survivor prefers, but it's the romanticization of other people that is the bad part, the expectation that they won't lean on anyone or that they'll be more responsible.)
