at the cottage shane comes up to Ilya so much with some sort of bug or critter in his closed fist that ilya is constantly on alert when shane comes near him with a closed hand. he’s like “shane what do you have do you have a bug get away from me shane shane!!!” and shane is laughing and coming closer holding his closed hand out like “babe its fine just look.” and ilya is like “shane i am so fucking serious right now.” and shane is trying not to double over in laughter because he literally has nothing in his hand.

I understand the urge to comment on recent trends in which people seem to want increasingly sanitized media compared to the recent past, but when you say things like "people used to just shrug and move on when there were books and movies that made them uncomfortable" it's like...well. actually people used to convict artists of obscenity in a court of law.

I think a big part of what makes Shane so incredibly compelling as a character is that he doesn’t give into stereotypes that have been perpetuated for so long that many people don’t even recognise them as anything out of the ordinary when they see them. Like, he’s autistic but he is shown to have deep connections to the people closest to him, he’s shown to be a person whose opinion is respected, he’s shown to be a person people are actively drawn to and want to be around, he’s shown to be funny and, yes, a little bitchy. He’s submissive but he’s never weak. He’s a top athlete who’s competative to a fault, never cowers from a challenge, and is a natural leader, and none of those facts are shown to be in conflict with his longing and need to submit. He’s a bottom but he’s overtly masculine, he’s physically large and unafraid to take up space; unafraid to push back. He’s a full fucking person and that is so refreshing to see, especially for those who share some of his traits and have only ever been allowed a representation of themselves that reduces them to that one trait, washing them of anything that adds nuance.

I feel like Ilya would definitely get some “ball and chain” type of comments regarding Shane and at one point he ends up in a group of guys who start ragging on him when he's thinking about heading out early, calling him whipped, joking about Shane having him on a tight leash, and Ilya ends up just saying, genuinely confused, “do you guys not like your wives?” There’s complete silence for a second before Ilya continues, “maybe you should give them the chance to find someone who actually enjoys spending time with them." And then he goes home to his husband, who also happens to be his favourite person in the world.

ik the pictures from the hollanov + sveta + rose yacht trip in summer 2022 went fucking viral on insta. people were on their knees begging for more. there is a pic of sveta sitting on rose’s lap and them sharing a joint. they definitely fucked that night and everyone can tell. there’s a video of ilya in a speedo, crawling over to where shane is lounging. it causes discourse.
