A Yemeni coffee place opened up near me and it's got me waxing poetic and wistuflly about the degradation of coffee shops as third spaces. It's sooooo pretty and bright in there and they do the classic Turkish coffee service with the pretty little pots (the pot is called a cezve!) and even though I got my little iced mofawar to go I was like, "Wrow. The cultivation of coffee and existence in a space as a singular experience for its own sake." Like because we're in capitalist hell it makes sense that like, Starbucks would make this slide from styling itself as a third space to essentially being a Caffeine Gas Station choked by mobile orders (as Stephen Colbert put it: A Public Restroom that Sells Cake Pops) but now when you step into a cafe that like... is actually designed for you to hang out in, you get this jarring realization of "Oh this used to be more broadly accessible. There used to be more places like this."

You are not "ruining" anyone's fun for demanding better for yourself, and anyone who says otherwise can go fuck themselves. Any fandom worth being a part of should have no room for racism in it.

People get made fun of for being scared of aging but it comes from the very real fear of being discarded by society that’s why i always say the goal is not to never become old or disabled the future comes for us all the goal is better social policy

its why body positivity as a movement fell short….ppl can only fake positivity so much before it stops working, u have to get ppl to agree that there body is a machine designed to take food to create energy to stay alive, if they can agree to that we have progress, the body positivity movement failed culturally bc ppl don’t love themselves enough bc they donot have the building blocks to neutrally accept themselves as a living animal

i think what confuses me the most about how white liberals have knee jerk reactions to poc not tolerating fascist is if the fascist just didnt exist we would not have these issues like the world would quite literally be a better place if everyone was in lockstep and agreed “anyone who thinks xyz minority is subhuman is not allowed among us in any capacity” like it is not a hard ask, that is the lowest bar in the world u would think we are asking them to split a atom or something, they just dont see how believing other people are not people based on race is inherently violent like there is no way for that belief to be held without you being a danger to other people
