I just returned home yesterday from my first in-person residency.
But, allow me to digress... this winter the seal on residencies was broken by the School of Visual Arts, Residency Project, which I took online. Their program was a refreshing and long overdue dip back into academia, but the one I just finished at Castle Hill's Edgewood Farm in Truro, MA was another kind of animal. I look forward to meeting all these species of residency. Also I've been participating in a critique class through The Art Students League, to maintain the momentum of visual analysis I began to cultivate during the SVA residency.
It's all been a lot, and maybe kept me a little distracted from just doing the work, but I love the new visual tools I am using and I want to keep them sharp. Sharp and a little distracted, just my kind of dangerous! I'll be writing more about the residencies soon.
The point I want to make here;
Before I left on this trip, which took me through 16 states and away from home for a month, I deactivated my facebook account. This is the new normal. You can find me on instagram, and I hope, here. My goal is to post once a month, anything more is just healthy fat.
I'd say I will miss seeing you all on facebook, but honestly with their algorithms I haven't seen you in ages already. I'll pop back on for a few groups info here and there and use the market place from time to time, but otherwise find me elsewhere. Please email me, share your platforms with me, call me, and lets hang out for a socially distanced beverage (yes I'm still socially distancing, feelings of comfort and safety live on a sliding scale for us all)
I'll be posting a few things in the coming weeks about art, residencies and theories of mine, because this is new and fun. So do come back, and here's to all the new directions in life art and thought.
