We talk a lot about how Will deserves his happy ending, and how it'd be unfair for him to die; but I think the same goes for Jonathan.

He's never actually been happy?? He's been dealing with Lonnie's abuse for years since he was a kid, he's had to watch his mom and little brother get that abuse too; he had to stepped up on a parental rol for his baby brother when he himself was a kid; he has/had no friends at all bc he spent his whole life just working and helping and providing for his family; he was bullied for the whole family situation, for being poor, for his hobby, probably also bc of his sexuality

And that's before the whole supernatural/Will disappearance stuff started (which I'm not gonna list, bc we already know and I don't wanna make the post that long)

And then the few stuff that could have given him some happiness at last (Nancy, college) was taken away from him too, and he gave up on it. He literally decided to give up his sparks of happiness and his dreams just so the others can be happy.
