There have been many attempts to translate the original series Star Trek into ttrpgs, but too many of them focus on the idea that TOS is about tense boarder skirmishes with cloaked Romulan Warbirds and anomalously psionic nebulae, and not actual Trek scenarios, like say, psychedelic vacation planets filled with poisonous lotus plants, Huitzilopochtli being real and living alone on a cave planet, or a world that is just like earth but the Han dynasty never fell and everyone speaks English

It was an extremely cool and weird start to a new star trek to have the new captain (technically Sisko is a commander but who cares) be like “I know you didn’t mean to but you killed my wife >:(”

I’m glad Picard doesn’t try to apologize. Like what do you even say? “Sorry I killed your wife while my mind and body were being worn as a mask by a swarm of cybernetic space bees?”
