Now. This question on which Candidate would be the most successful at ushering in racial equality is a bit tricky. I believe a lot of the Candidates have goals that would have a secondary effect of increasing racial equality.

To expand on what I mean by that.

Felt wants a kingdom where there is no real class lording over anybody anymore. Crusch wants the citizens to be able to stand strong independently and support the Kingdom without Volcanica. Priscilla wants everybody to be equally revering her. Anastasia wants the overall Kingdom to improve as something she owns.

None of these causes explicitly target demi-human equality yet they all have a clear domino effect where some of that would inevitably occur.

This makes it a wee bit difficult to say which Candidate would do the best at racial equality being solved even if it does give us a clear blueprint on how they would tackle racial equality since their tackling of it would be a natural byproduct of their main mission.

Based on what I have seen of all Candidates however, I think it is fairly reasonable to say Anastasia would be the most effective at handling demi-human equality simply for the fact that on screen she has shifted views of demi-humans that other characters like Joshua have whilst not being a demi-human herself but simply lifting up people around her whom are.

Now. On Emilia. See, there is some stuff I do genuinely believe she could do that she hasn’t for her goal. Which makes sense why she hasn’t done what I’ll point out since you highlighted what I’ve said about the matter, so it’s not bad writing but moreso purposeful that Emilia isn’t doing stuff to promote demi-human equality much.

Basically. A BIG thing Emilia could’ve done is imo utilize the fact one of the 5 Great Cities in Costuul resides in her sponsors domain and the fact she has a bunch of displaced demi-humans from the Sanctuary needing a place to go.

Emilia could’ve feasibly sent a good chunk of the displaced Sanctuary folk to Costuul and began integrating them within the city as more hands for their industries. Especially since Costuul did get a bit damaged during the SS’s focusing in there and having some people to come help repair would’ve been useful.

In time, it is plausible that once Costuul kept developing positively people could come to see demi-humans as a net positive if one of the 5 Great Cities was continuously improving with their presence.

Also. Since Costuul is a Great City with a lot of items that are sent out into the rest of the Kingdom, word of merchants whom have a good time in the city would also spread. Thus, bringing more positive views of demi-humans outside of the reach of the Mathers domain.

Instead, we canonically get the Sanctuary residents being moved to Arlam or the Mathers mansion. An easy choice but one that doesn’t boost demi-human support outside of the Mathers domain where it is already strong.

It is a very smart writing decision on Tappei’s end to have Emilia pick the more easy and uncommitted option of sending the Sanctuary residents there since Emilia in truth isn’t doing much to push her proposed ideals she is running on.

It just further highlights the point Emilia made in Arc 4 that really, she is indeed running just for the blood to save the elves and that’s truly it at its core despite the nice veneer of racial equality ontop.
