@jmespctters Award Ceremony
Causing chaos was not the most effective method Antonin Dolohov employed as a Death Eater and yet he did as he was ordered. A good soldier follows orders, he knew, even though Antonin intended to be a commander when all was said and done. It was no trouble to acquiesce to the Dark Lordâs requests, especially if it meant he would not need to spend the evening networking with those in London he would rather avoid. He would have preferred to be involved in one of the other attacks but he trusted that the Dark Lord had chosen Antonin for chaos merely because he knew how effective he could be.
And so, swathed in black with a mask over his face, he had entered the ceremony with the intent to cause chaos, fire, and fear. It was easy enough, he supposed, and he had even placed a spell on himself so his voice would be unrecognizable moving forward. A few flicks of his wand and some people were falling to the ground. Another flick and the fire was growing in size. A smile grew on his face and Antonin threw another spell at a person before he realized that there was someone with a wand â someone who was pointing it at him.
Antonin raised his brow and his lips twitched. âI invite you to try,â he drawled.
He fucking knew it. They just didnât learn, did they? The chaos at the Quidditch game hadnât been enough, Halloween, the Ball - and they decided to throw a party in open defiance of the Death Eaters? The second the lights went out Jamesâs wand was up - it had already been in his hand - and he had turned to Remus to find that his friend had vanished, swallowed up by the surging crowd of attackers and victims. James swore in Welsh and sent a Stunner under the arm of a woman running by, right into the face of a Death Eater that had its wand raised at her.Â
The second Death Eater became aware of him too soon. James smiled lightly at his opponent and bent his knees in a light sort of bow.Â
âWell, I certainly appreciate the invitation,â he said as he did so, wand light between his fingers, matching the Death Eaterâs movements, staying light - looking for an opening. An all-out duel would be hard with so many bystanders -and he had a feeling his opponent didnât see them as quite as valuable as he did. âApparently you guys didnât need one to show up here tonight. Itâs a pity, really, that you simply canât tell when youâre not wanted.â
