âI do enjoy aesthetics.â Nina smiled, checking once more on the dinner to ensure everything was going according to plan. The idea of Diana trying to ear worm her way into Antonins head. She wasnât even sure much of it was Dianaâs concern for Antonin. She was positive that it was about her dislike for Nina. She pursed her lips and thought about what she might say in her next run in with Diana. âWell Malcolms not my biggest fan at the moment either. But I appreciate thatâ she said.
Nina was caught up in her negative spiral of thoughts, suddenly sure that Antonin wasnât serious with her. Until he spoke. He pulled her into him, and she rested her arms on top of his shoulders. He kissed her forehead and she closed her eyes. The most important person in his life. She took a breath and looked up to him âthe most important? Thatâs quite a titleâ she smiled slightly, whilst her heart felt like it was fluttering with joy, she wanted to make sure he was being truthful. âI feel the sameâ she said, resting her hand on the side of his face and brushing her thumb against his cheek.
âAs do I. Thereâs something to be said for enjoying the smaller things in life.â Antonin inclined his head, not sure if he was supposed to ask more details about Malcolm or not. It had been so long since heâd been in the early stages of a relationship and he supposed, in a way, heâd never truly been in one or by the time he and Katsiaryna had acknowledged that they were together it had been that way for many years. Now he shrugged another shoulder, lifting his glass to his lips as he watched Nina, well aware that mentioning Diana was probably not the best thing he could have done.
It had been nearly a lifetime since heâd felt like this and there was a newness to being with Nina that he was still trying to decipher. He exhaled, softly, as he held the woman in his arms, hoping she could understand just how much he cared for her. âThat it is,â he agreed. âAnd it doesnât sound nearly so silly as some of the other titles people come up with these days.â He saw such a little reason for labels, at least labels that were not formalized in some way. At her admission, his lips twitched and the smile grew. He leaned down to press his lips to her own, slowly, carefully, hoping she realized the depth of his emotion in the action.
