“Well, you should. That would make this so much easier,” he teased back. “Okay, but like what if I’m not very creative? Well, I am. But not when it comes to carving. Typically, I make a mess out of the pumpkin and the whole thing kind of caves in on itself.”
Freddie started at the squarish pumpkin unsure. “Wow, you are calling me weird and fun? I’ll take the fun but leave the weird. I think you are confusing me with yourself,” he said defensively with a chuckle. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pumpkin that shape. It is definitely different. Totally, a talking piece,” he shrugged. “Why would that be odd? You are like every other girl ever,” he joked playfully.
“I got you.” JJ chuckled softly, shaking her head in amusement. “Weird is good but okay, if you say so. Weird people have the most fun, in my opinion - and yes, I’m probably saying that from experience. My family definitely considers me the weird one. I guess it’s more odd coming from the family I grew up in.” She explained. “We didn’t do Halloween - or well, we did ‘fall festivals’ because Halloween means the literal devil to my mother. I don’t hate the idea of fall festivals because I love fall but I also love Halloween and the spooky - my mother hates it.”
JJ rolled her eyes good naturedly at Freddie, a small smile on her lips. “You mean - I’m not unique and special? Have I been lied to my whole life? I’m really just like every other simple girl in the world? How awful.” She let out a quiet laughed, shaking her head in fake disbelief.
