Basketball basketball we love basketball
white t girl i love you. and also do not forget that you are not the modern martyr for the oppressed voice. that's still black girls. it's always been black girls. stories of black martyrdom simply don't make it into the news cycle until the unrest caused by its reporting can be packaged as a "riot" segment between traffic reports. i know you suffer, but whatever you're experiencing, i beg you, when interacting with your community and building nuanced understandings of each other and the system which binds us, to not forget that a black tgirl has felt it 100 times worse before positioning yourself as an authority on all systems of oppression for having suffered unjustly at all. because you have suffered unjustly, but suffering unjustly as a white person means something so much different.
serenely reblogging this once more after deleting responses from white people saying "talking about this is actually unhelpful because im oppressed too" yeah i know. i wrote that down in the post i made, and i also wrote down why remembering the difference is important. did you read it?
there is no malice in my reminder. no "you need to do better", just a reminder. do not read it as such. i didn't write it as such.
again. i did not say you were not oppressed. this post is literally about how you are oppressed. it is a reminder that you are not the most oppressed person in the world, a way i've seen a lot of white transfems acting lately. maybe not even necessarily in a detrimental way, but in a way that definitely leans towards the "white is default" lane of thinking, which erases black suffering, which erases progress towards black safety. this, to me, is troubling, which is why i made this post. it's important when building solidarity within our community to understand who the most vulnerable of us are, because the safety of the most vulnerable of us will ultimately be the safety of all of us.
please do not be offended when you are reminded that your skin is white. im not calling you evil. im asking you to remain aware of yourself.
Oh hey I wrote a small essay on exactly this back when I was still being kind and calmly explaining things to yakubian devils

wow, look at that, a black trans woman saying the exact thing i said, except she said it a year ago and it didnt get as much traction.
"weird! i wonder why!" she exclaimed, whitely.
please read it. it's not long.
Thing is that Iâm not the only Black trans woman writing theory on transfeminism, Black transfeminism, or trans intersectionality - Iâm just lightskinned and wonât shut up so Iâm one of the most visible ones, and crackers STILL get mad at me for saying the most basic-ass concepts like âwhite people are still white even if theyâre otherwise marginalizedâ
In many cases, intracommunity racial intersectionality fails because given the choice between solidarity with nonwhite trans people and white people (trans or cis), white trans people will almost always side with other whites in the hopes of preserving a degraded position within white supremacy, because they internally see being âlesserâ within whites supremacy but still above nonwhites as preferable to solidarity with nonwhites that loses them that positionality.
I wanna toss this link on here because itâs directly related to the whole âlack of intracommunity solidarity when race is involvedâ thing and has a specific example from my local community.

Reblog to save a duck
Quack quack
Itâs getting to be that time of year where more people are going outside to parks and stuff so i thought it would a good idea to reblog this again
Once I was feeding some ducks from a bag of birdseed I brought with me, and this woman next to me looked so confused and asked what I was feeding them
When I said it was birdseed she just went âoh- can they actually eat that? Is that safe?â
I didnt know how to respond like, at all, so I just pointed at the duck and said âbirdâ
She then had a look on her face like a new groove was just forcibly carved in her brain and said softly âoh my fucking godâ
my evil chalice came in but its so fucking small. goddamnit. they're going to make fun of me at the wizards circle tonight
loser

unrestrained summer fun
every year around late may, without fail, this post starts getting notes again . and my little wet raw chicken breast of a brain gets puzzled. because i forget that summer is , in fact. a yearly event
Trans activist Jamison Green's passport photos before and after HRT. Left he's age 32 (1980) Right age 41 (1989) after being on testosterone for one year (x)
(read his autobiography here for free)
updated the link to his autobiography because it was broken! here's some more pictures of him (first is mid 90s, second 2013 and last 2024)
there's an interview with him from 2017 along with some information about his life and activism. and he was interviewed on a podcast here. he's not super well known but has been a really important trans activist for decades
god Iâm so tired. I have never wanted to make things by hand so badly before in my life. I crave human touch. I want to completely sew my wardrobe. I want to make ceramic cups. I want to make a scrap journal. I need to draw with pen and paper. I want paint. I want to know itâs real and I did it and Iâm enriching my life by doing so
i have a suggestion

I just remembered that this was a thing that was HILARIOUS in 2006 and apparently that was ten years ago now.
Old people: join with me in remembering how funny we found this on LiveJournal.
Young people: look at this lolrus, itâs so happy, it has a bucket.
And then they stealed away the bucket and we realised we had fucked up a perfectly good elephant seal and given it anxiety.
listen this vintage meme is high quality and i will hear nothing said against it
20 years. I am not happy about this.
Iâm delighted at the bucket reappearing but dismayed at the passage of time
Happy 20 years to Lolrus and his bucket!
Googled something about quick hydration and it suggested big jug of water, couple tbsp pickle juice, dash of lime juice.
Its surprisingly tasty????
Pleased to report that after a day of this i am not longer craving caper brine and my mouth is not dry as usual. There's some good suggestions in the notes too that I want to try.
-ancient roman posca: water, red or white wine vinegar, honey, salt, herbs (coriander, mint, thyme)
-switchel: water, ginger, vinegar, sweetener, lemon, salt
-ayran: yogurt, water, salt, mint
-Agua pepino: water, cucumbers, lime, sugar, optional mint.
I have been reminded of:
-shrub: vinegar, sida water, elderberry (or other berry), sugar.
I have now been informed of
-sekanjabin: honey, vinegar, mint, water.
"Wow, I wonder why this post was popular this week."
-sees the reports of the heatwave in Europe-
"... ah."
So apparently, over the summer, Quibi (the shortest-lasting streaming service ever lmao) did a quarantine project called âHome Movie: The Princess Brideâ where a bunch of celebrities recreated The Princess Bride in tiny chunks at home.
And like there was no permanent cast, all these celebrities seem to have gotten a scene or part of a scene to do (iâm not sure exactly, I did not ever watch Quibi and thus havenât seen this yet), and then they just⊠recreated it as best they could. At home. Under quarantine.
So like, you had Jennifer Garner in a blanket cape playing Princess Buttercup AND the Booing Old Woman with a crowd comprised entirely of stuffed animals:
Or Taika Waititi paying Westley off a badly-drawn Inigo on a piece of cardboard held in front of someoneâs face:
And itâs all just delightful.
But my absolute favorite part of this thing that Iâve sadly never seen but assume is probably absolutely hilarious and a treasure and I want to find it some day and watch the whole thing⊠is that Carey Elwes is in it.
As Prince Fucking Humperdink.

In case you need a comfort watch and because Youtube search nowadays sucks rancid putrescence, I remind you of the Princess Bride Home Movie from the lockdown, starring everybody
I do not agree with veganism as a moral standard. If it is your personal moral stance, that is fine. If you think humans eating meat is inherently immoral, I donât want to deal with you, youâre hopeless. Vegan ideology behaves more like a sect of evangelical Christianity than a dietary choice.
Veganism is better for the environment, but claiming that it's a morally superior choice ignores cultural and economic factors that make people eat animal products.
It is not inherently better for the environment. That is the thing. When you begin trying to explain that local, sustainably sourced animal protein is better for the environment than imported plant proteins that are farmed 3,500 miles away using slave labor, they start tuning you out. Down is better for the environment than polyester stuffing, leather is better for the environment than pleather. We should work on making animal agricultural practices more sustainable instead of trying to shame everyone into eating plant products that are also farmed unethically and unsustainably.

This is beautiful. Is this the same lady that learned the iron fireworks technique too?
I'm posting this here because yes it's visually beautiful, but more importantly it shows the process of learning. It's not easy. It's scary. There's not a lot of people doing it.
It's beautiful because of the effort, not in spite of it. I feel like we don't value the effort of learning in social media posts, and this was incredibly done.

Hey do yâall remember when Boeing fucking killed a guy last year. And we all said âhuh I guess Boeing fucking killed a guyâ and then went on with our lives. And everybody knew that Boeing had fully just fucking executed a guy and nothing came of it. Like there was no police investigation no justice no nothing. Like literally EVERYBODY knew that Boeing had full on murdered a guy to silence him and there wasnât any consequences for them. Kinda crazy.
and there was even less talk when openai did the exact same thing more recently
So for those who are, very understandably uninitiated on this story:
On 23 October last year (2024) the New York Times published an interview with former OpenAI researcher Suchir Balaji who worked on organising and gathering data for OpenAI until 2022 when he begun thinking about the morality of it. He eventually came to the conclusion that what OpenAI is doing blatantly violates copyright law and decided to leave the company altogether in August 2024.
After he came out with this accusation he was set to appear in court to testify against OpenAIâs data-gathering practices, something which had the potential of being a complete disaster for the company and the generative AI industry as a whole.
That was until 26 November, just days before he was due to appear in court, when he suddenly and mysteriously was found dead inside his own apartment. Investigators concluded that the death was self-inflicted, something which his family has disputed.
There was also âsign of struggle in the bathroom and looks like someone hit him in the bathroom based on blood spotsâ, and his apartment showed signs of having been ransacked for evidence: âThe pin drive is missing. His computer was messed up.â.
Overall it feels pretty clear-cut what happened, that is to say that OpenAI had him killed because he was a legitimate threat to their business, indicating that they are fully aware that the way theyâre gathering data is completely illegal.
