I've been looking into the "transgender issue" recently, and I have a question. Most people are arguing now that gender and sex are different. If that's true, then why does gender need to be defined by the same words with which sex is defined?
During all of history, a woman has been defined by her female genitalia due to sex which, from what I understand, is what a person is born biologically. Now, people are trying to define the word "woman" by gender instead of sex. Why? Couldn't you just make a new word? If the definition of "woman" is different for each person due to gender identity, why use "woman" at all?
If you are born with male genitalia, but you decide to live as a female - which is confusing on another level, because why do men and women have to live certain ways - why can't you make up a new term? Like banfalia. I looked that up. I'm pretty sure it's not a word right now. Why can't "woman" or "man" be biological?
Coin a new word. Create something entirely new! Isn't that better than just redefining an old term? Wouldn't it at least somewhat minimize the argument between the two sides?
