Randomly got a Goose Boose video in my recommended after years of not watching him (not because of anything in particular I kinda just forgot his username one day and ultimately forgot about him in general) and it's really making my skin crawl. (Especially since.. well I'm not really religious per se but I do have a lot of superstitions about the dead and how they should be treated)
Apparently there's some TikTok trend where they're using AI filters to make videos of murdered people dancing.. I had already heard of the AI Minion gore stuff.
It's like with each day I just hear worse and worse things about TikTok that you can easily come across out of NOWHERE because of the algorithm.
It really worries me how it's affecting those who don't know what they're looking at.
Like even if you watch stuff that has nothing to do with that content it could still be boosted to you eventually because all the app knows is "oh the video is getting a lot of views! So I'll push it to people not even looking for this kind of content! ☝️☝️"
This happened with the only person in my household that uses TikTok. Randomly started getting a bunch of videos of some guy filming homeless people. Not doing it for awareness for his city or even helping them. Just in their face. Filming them and BOTHERING THEM.
And it took a while for those videos to stop showing up for her. She primarily watches fashion and aesthetic content on there.. there was no reason for it to push that to her and it did anyway.,
I'm so glad I was never allowed to get TikTok and nor will I ever have it.
For any of my mutuals/followers/whoever is reading this.. I don't know. If you have TikTok you should probably try and move or something. It's not worth it to be frightened by such disrespectful, disturbing content. (not to mention the sheer amount of pedo rings on there sitting right in the open)
If you're a content creator who is earning money from TikTok in some kind of way.. if there's a feature to only view content from those you follow I'd suggest turning that on and primarily using that to avoid running into anything like this.
I still don't understand how others can defend generative AI when it's used to do stuff like this. Like yeah sure I guess you can argue "oh b-but!! Not all AI users generate stuff like this!!" The fact that it can in the first place with very little to no positives (unless you're a politician looking to muddy the waters with AI propaganda) makes it not worth having.
I mean.. especially with this situation you, your family members, your friends.. they're all one horrible incident away from being treated like this.
