People are going to see this and go "oh do you think real treatment that helps people is bad and no one should do it." I think people should be allowed to do whstever the fuck they want. I just think people aren't very honest about the psychological toll these treatments can have, which is the number one reason people either don't complete ERP, never start it, or it doesn't work for them. People act like purposefully triggering yourself is nbd bc it "isn't real" and if you cant handle it, you just werent committed to "processing your discomfort enough," and that's the attitude most psychiatrists have as well.

It's the best example of how most of psychiatry isn't something meant to make you happy, but something meant to make you normal.
