OMG YOUâRE RIGHT
I am so tired of short-attention-span, trim-the-fat culture. All writing advice these days is for how to write like Chuck Palahniuk. "Cut 'think', cut 'feel', cut 'wonder' - only action, only pushing forward, show and move and move and move." What if I could emulate this style, and still don't want to? What if I want to write like Henry James, with three paragraphs of introspective musings between each dialogue line? The music advice is, "make it shortform, make it Tik-Tok compatible, make it punchy, hit the refrain as soon as possible." What if I want that 10-minute prog rock piece? What if I want that symphony? What if I want it slow and luxurious and lazy? Movies. Series. Poetry. Bodies. Everything is "trimmed trimmed trimmed trimmed, stripped bare, you have three seconds to win me over, make it airport chic." I don't want to win you over, then, I guess. I want the fat left it. I want the pleasure and the indolence and the indulgence. Fuck this art-advice that's always "your art needs Ozempic."
If too many people are mean to you when you're 7 the rest of your life becomes a horror game forever
Just wanna say how much I LOVE being asexual. Theres so much joy and whimsy to find in life when not worrying about the confines of relationship expectations.I literally cannot imagine myself any other way. I would not be the same person at all if I were not asexual. I understand that a lot of people accept and acknowledge their queerness while not considering it be a core part of their personality, but for me it is So Integral to how I operate as a human being that i consider it a huge part of my personality. Which is a good thing for me!! Just thinking about my asexuality and being confident in who I am brings me such euphoria. I love love love being asexual. I love that this is the way I am. I love existing sometimes it is so great 10/10 would recommend. Asexuals of the world, you are loved.

Keep up the fight.
Ugly Duckling sequel where the swan is like hey it's nobody's fault and I don't think anyone did anything wrong per se but nonetheless I did feel really alienated and depressed for most of my youth and those years do continue to affect me in the present day and their mom is like, so what you're saying is that you think I'm a failure and a bad duck.

US Americans, stop doomscrolling and call the Congressional switchboard to demand the 25th Amendment be invoked, because this orange-flavored mf'er needs to go.
âš (202) 224-3121
For those who may be curious about this amendment, PolitiFact has a pretty decent piece about its implementation.
The amendmentâs principal author, Sen. Birch Bayh, D-Ind., embraced an understanding that presidential inability would encompass both physical and mental inability, Joel K. Goldstein, professor of law emeritus at Saint Louis University, previously told PolitiFact. The formulation Bayh adopted was offered by Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, D-N.Y., who said presidential inability "involves physical or mental inability to make or communicate his decision regarding his capacity and physical or mental inability to exercise the powers and duties of his office." Another important architect of the amendment, Rep. Richard Poff, R-Va., said section four not only applied when the president, because of accident or illness, was unconscious or otherwise unable to make or communicate a decision, but also when "the President, by reason of mental debility, is unable or unwilling to make any rational decision, including particularly the decision to stand aside." On July 6, 1965, Congress approved the 25th Amendment, and the necessary 38 states ratified it Feb. 10, 1967. Legal experts told us the drafters used intentionally vague and open-ended language (i.e., a president who is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office") because they recognized they couldn't predict every scenario in which a president could be deemed disabled.
For what it's worth, the operator I spoke to agreed with my sentiments about all this; same with many other anecdotes I'm reading.
Anyway, obligatory ACLU mention!
The presidentâs reckless decision to bomb Iran without bothering to ask for congressional approval is a clear constitutional violation that
If you are someone who needs a script for these things, I cannot recommend 5calls.org enough. It's a very simple site to use. When you open the page you'll input your address or just your zip code, select the topic you want to call about. The link above should have "No War With Iran" already selected.
Add your zip, select an option. Read the information the site gives you. Your reps phone number and the script will be at the bottom of the page, so scroll.
This is one of my reps. As you can see, if gives you his DC office number as well as local numbers. There is the script; simply sub in your name and city. You can read the speech word for word or use it to gather your thoughts. Once you're done, if you're speaking to an operator, they will say something along the lines of "yes I can pass the message along." Then select one of the blue buttons at the bottom depending on if you reached an operator or had to leave a voicemail and the site will give you the next representative to call. And that's it. This is a very easy thing to do, I promise, and if you have republican reps you HAVE to call them. They are the ones who hold power, currently, so they are the ones who need to be spurred into action. You might not have voted for them but they are still your representative and you still have the right to tell them what to do. They are not ABOVE you, they WORK FOR YOU. So make them work for you.
Some simple (but hopefully helpful) motivation today! Sometimes the simplest of ideas can be the most powerful motivators. Letâs keep going because we still have plenty of mountains we want to climb!

Hey do yâall remember when Boeing fucking killed a guy last year. And we all said âhuh I guess Boeing fucking killed a guyâ and then went on with our lives. And everybody knew that Boeing had fully just fucking executed a guy and nothing came of it. Like there was no police investigation no justice no nothing. Like literally EVERYBODY knew that Boeing had full on murdered a guy to silence him and there wasnât any consequences for them. Kinda crazy.
and there was even less talk when openai did the exact same thing more recently
So for those who are, very understandably uninitiated on this story:
On 23 October last year (2024) the New York Times published an interview with former OpenAI researcher Suchir Balaji who worked on organising and gathering data for OpenAI until 2022 when he begun thinking about the morality of it. He eventually came to the conclusion that what OpenAI is doing blatantly violates copyright law and decided to leave the company altogether in August 2024.
After he came out with this accusation he was set to appear in court to testify against OpenAIâs data-gathering practices, something which had the potential of being a complete disaster for the company and the generative AI industry as a whole.
That was until 26 November, just days before he was due to appear in court, when he suddenly and mysteriously was found dead inside his own apartment. Investigators concluded that the death was self-inflicted, something which his family has disputed.
There was also âsign of struggle in the bathroom and looks like someone hit him in the bathroom based on blood spotsâ, and his apartment showed signs of having been ransacked for evidence: âThe pin drive is missing. His computer was messed up.â.
Overall it feels pretty clear-cut what happened, that is to say that OpenAI had him killed because he was a legitimate threat to their business, indicating that they are fully aware that the way theyâre gathering data is completely illegal.

im sorry what?
This is the foundation of all hope btw. In the words of Tolkien, 'despair is for those who see the end beyond all doubt. We do not.'
