What does your personal choice not to shave do politically? How is that an effective political action? All you've managed to do with your righteous presumption is alienate women for whom the social consequences of not shaving are far more severe. No one disagrees with you that women are socially coerced into shaving. The problem is you've drawn the conclusion that the best way to oppose that coercion is to haughtily suggest that women who do shave are not doing their part. I'm saying that is not a coherent political strategy.

do you know how social norms are changed? can you give me an idea of how you think the social norm of women’s bodies being completely hairless is going to go away? do you think that will happen with 99% of women shaving or waxing or lasering every inch of their bodies? do you think personal choice has nothing to do with politics on a collective scale? do you think individual decisions don’t constitute a society? how much money do you think is invested in the continued coercion of women to shave? do you think such a vast industry can be neutralized by good vibes? or do you think maybe more people have to start changing their personal habits for it to be reflected in broader society?

Yeah, exactly. Personal choices are not an effective means of political change. Change requires collective action. Imperiously demanding that other women make the same choice you did does not count as collective action. Organize with other women in your community. Try to understand the perspectives of women who are different from you. I suggest reading about second wave feminism and its critiques. Nothing we're talking about hasn't been argued about a hundred times before.
