Like the protests against social distancing, it was based in legitimate grievances that were exploited by powerful forces on the right for their own political and economic ends. Those grievances were then channeled into an act — voting for Trump — that was primarily expressive in nature. […] And once again, the solution being offered will only make things worse. Voting for Trump didn’t help people who live paycheck to paycheck, and defying stay-at-home orders will only give new life to the coronavirus, prolonging the pandemic and making it harder to recover economically. But if Republicans can convince people that the only way to understand this crisis is through a partisan lens, they can tamp down difficult questions about Trump’s performance and minimize the political damage he’ll suffer, making it possible for him to win in the fall. WTF???? I’m a WRITER!!! And I can’t imagine thinking in actual sentences. How does that work? Does it take you like the same amount of time as it would to speak the sentence just to think a concept? I mean.. I think of the entire concept in a split second and I feel like it takes way too long to type out the words that concept translates into. And I type like 110 wpm. Is sentence thinking faster than typing or saying the words in the sentence? Like do you think the entire sentence all at once? How does that work?

While writing I hear most of the words from my stories in my head before I write them.

It’s MUCH faster than saying the sentence out loud for me. (A sentence can take less than a second for me)

I’m very confused about how u can write without the voice.

Like how do u think up the plot? The narrative?

How do you think “Character 1 did X action and then character 2 reacted by doing Y action” without words?

This is so fascinating. I think we can't imagine how the other side does it! I just think the thoughts and they translate into words when I speak or type them. There are probably experts who can explain and describe how both ways of thinking work! This is like when I found out that some people never get songs stuck in their heads. They just don't. I think they tend to not be able to hear the music in their heads without it playing. That's... unimaginable to me!

So apparently last year the National Park Service in the US dropped an over 1200 page study of LGBTQ American History as part of their Who We Are program which includes studies on African-American history, Latino history, and Indigenous history.

Like. This is awesome. But also it feels very surreal that maybe one of the most comprehensive examinations of LGBTQ history in America (it covers sports! art! race! historical sites! health! cities!) was just casually done by the parks service.
