Meters are better than feet, liters are better than quarts, but Fahrenheit and Month-Day-Year are the two things America gets right

I'm not even going to dignify Fahrenheit with yet another comment, but I see no way of defending Month-Day-Year without acknowledging that the Hungarian date format, Year-Month-Day, is even better.

At this point I’m willing to concede whatever arguments Americans have for the supposed practicality of Fahrenheit, if they concede that 95% of the planet’s population has already made up their mind and we shouldn’t be expected to translate for them.

That's essentially my belief. Fahrenheit is just better for regular uses of temperature, and if you're doing science celsius is *barely* better (if you're doing real science you should be using Kelvin anyway), but unfortunately most of the world made the wrong choice and uniformity is more important than a good scale for telling weather, so America should adopt Celsius

what i like about this is that the people seem just. unthreatened. they are responding to these nightgaunt looking motherfuckers as if they were a particularly rambunctious opossum. “oh god damn the shadow entity stole our ball again what the fuck dude we’re trying to play horse.” perfect, i love it.
