The first time Sue and Carrie went at an art gallery, Sue just spent the entire time making Carrie laugh.
In a perfect happy ending—
I like to think CarrieSue is the type of couple who’d keep ordering one big meal just to share lmaoo
Carrie gets to try Sue’s favorites and Sue gets to finish it when Carrie doesn’t want to.
My brain eating amoebas…..
As a Barbara Cheetah fan, what are your thoughts on her Post-Crisis counterpart, specifically the Perez run?
She doesn't really click with me the same way Rebirth Barbara Ann did
1) I am of the belief that Barbara Minerva and Barbara Ann Minerva are two different characters cuz they're both just extremely opposite of each other for me to consider them the same person.
2) Personally, I think the way Rucka handled Barbara Ann in rebirth was more interesting and impactful to me than how Perez wrote Barbara
Perez's Cheetah is just a comic character of her time, cartoonish villain of the week who serves as an enemy and nothing more. And that's besides the problematic aspects of her lore (it was the 80s sadly).
Now to compare Rucka's Cheetah—
Barbara Ann is an innocent woman turned monster who mourns everything she had lost after falling victim to Urzkartaga's marriage, She resonates with me because I see a lot of myself and my struggles within her, In the way almost nobody believed she was a victim, In the way she was blamed for what happened to her, including Urzkartaga r*ping her, In how all of that manifested into this feral animalistic anger because she truly felt as though she was just inherently cursed to be doomed.
And the way her jealousy and envy towards Diana is framed? It's not just some 2-dimensional "I'm jealous of her so she must die" bit, it's actually more complex, the way I personally interpret it? She has deep envy towards how lucky Diana is, how everything seemingly comes to Diana while she has to work 10x harder just to get a fraction of recognition Diana gets.
When Cheetah and Cheshire got released? My love for this character only deepened because we also got to meet Barbara Ann beyond the tragedy she went through during rebirth, because it was like a middle ground between Barbara Ann and the Cheetah. I admire how smart and calculating she is while still encompassing that human kindness in how she treated Jade and Lian, I notice how she keeps being protective around women and people whom she perceives as children, And I think what hits so close to home for me was how her cannibalism was framed like a battle with addiction.
I just love how deeply flawed and complex she is as a character under Rucka's characterization, it hits that sweet spot for me that no other DC rogue could ever reach.

i know in my heart i will never be able to reach Ultimate Gay. because sue snell exists
emerson college sue you will always be famous. so gay they had to add back in white star
I miss Veronica Cale and her greasy redditor…
just saw pictures from mike flanagan carrie
okay serious fucking question, must he de-fang every female character he touches?
mike, it's actually more interesting for audiences that margaret is an abusive religious fundie (and also a victim of marital rape) who tries to literally beat the idea of sin into her daughter, it is actually TIMELY to adapt that correctly at this particular american moment. WHY is he so scared of every piece of source material that has ever been handed to him? i MUST know
you're laughing, mike flanagan wants to do gilmore girls with telekinetic rage and you're laughing
what if carrie was about a young witch searching for a missing cat in the alps
I don't know horror really, but it sounds like he's going for like the ultimate helicopter "won't someone think of the children" parent and like the problems maybe having to deal with things not being safe?
the thing is, margaret white is not a "won't someone think of the children" fundie, you wouldn't catch her at a moms for liberty meeting. she likely never wanted to be a mother. she is a "sex is fundamentally evil" fundie who beats her child with little to no remorse. she sees carrie as being demonic. like, if "helicopter parent" is flanagan's interpretation, it sucks. Badly. she doesn't want to create a "private utopia" for carrie, she's punishing her for the crime of being conceived which is why carrie Has to kill her in the end (after she fatally stabs her first). i think the tragedy at the heart of the gothic domestic horror of carrie is that carrie has only had her mother and her mother has never wanted her
Wretched obsession

WIP....
Yes Mike Flanagan’s imagining of Carrie is fundamentally cowardly and spineless and tasteless and misogynistic but I think we need to acknowledge that 2026 Carrie could never work because 2026 Margaret White isn’t sending her kid to public school she’s doing IBLP homeschooling and still somehow suing the local school district for carrying books in their library that say “gender”
