Whenever I meet fundamentalist Christian families with like 7 kids I just feel this impossible-to-express surge of pain and sympathy for the mother of the family, because you know damn well that her husband pressured her into this life of just... CONSTANT creation of babies and solo caretaking for these children. The patriarchy in the evangelical church is so crippling that most of these women have never had even the slightest chance to escape the system that basically drafts them into domestic servitude. It’s so fucked up and depressing to see.

I literally am not acting out of contempt for currently trans identified people when I say we’re already in the midst of a huge tsunami of people detransitioning and desisting from trans identity who transitioned after 2014, and that at this point in time it’s completely foolish (not to mention embarrassing for the rest of us) to just dismiss detrans people as TERF psyops meant to invalidate your identity personally. A lot of young women are waking up to the fact that they were sold a lie when they transitioned. A lot of dysphoric people feel that they were duped into believing transition was the only effective cure for dysphoria, and that any suggestion otherwise was tantamount to an act of violence against trans people as a collective. This is a dangerous lie, and hundreds of thousands of young women have been sold short of the kind of comprehensive mental health care they needed to work through their dysphoria bc of it. Recognizing that does not need to be a political act.
