that's completely fucked up, it's actually in direct violation of the human spirit. we were built to struggle. i say this as an adhd-haver, yes often things i don't care about are boring to me, which is unpleasant, but difficult and boring aren't the same thing. plenty of things i'm interested in doing are extremely difficult but not boring, just hard. this is unpleasant to deal with initially, but i know pleasure is on the other side of the difficulty. it's also on the other side of failure, from which i learn, and through this learning the difficulty diminishes

I've created a primary post for my new favorite WLW ship. Two diametrically opposed comic strip characters (a pin-up girl from 60s Hungary and an American working woman of the 70s/80s) who look so gosh darn cute together. I had never really given much thought to Cathy other than that I knew it used to run in newspapers and was considered something of a target; Jucika I barely knew anything about either aside from the obvious porn.

Yet I've fallen in love with this ship. The artwork from both @vintdooforreal and @bluerm is just so good in different ways. A perpetually-stressed out woman like Cathy deserves a woman who loves her back and helps her (and not the useless, annoying men she was forever dating or even married to). Jucika meanwhile gets a woman who loves her for who she is and not just because she's stunningly attractive.

I have now finished and posted Sketchpad -- a fic detailing how the two meet and change each others' lives for the better.

It's MORE important to note, that if a Kentucky Senator is unable to serve, a special election to called to replace them. Unless they die/are fully unable to serve after August 3rd, then it does not happen. Then, he is not replaced.

It is likely they will keep him Technically Alive until August 4th to stall and avoid this election.

The EVEN BIGGER thing to note is there has been a very, very large string of MASSIVE absences by many, many (often older) congressmen and women that have normalized this type of disappearance and silence.

One was found in a care home with dementia after not reporting to work for months. One disappeared for FOUR MONTHS because he was "depressed" but also was doing sports betting and investment work while gone. (He got paid sick leave that he voted against for everyone else, btw).

McConnell has been in hospital for a MONTH and we are just finding out now it was cardiac arrest and he's still in the hospital (likely braindead but that's inference, not a released statement).

This behaviour has been normalized in this country. Every example listed is a republican BUT democrats have had their share of congressmen and women with dementia being puppeted by their staff, which is on the same level as shit this.
