Not so gentle reminder that internet censorship “for the children” via KOSA and the SCREEN Act will only either cut those children out of this heavily internet-dependent world, or will encourage them to get online in ways that are extremely unsafe to people with an age appropriate lack of critical thinking skills.
It will likely effect their schooling to the point where they will have no choice but to give up their information, and if they don’t have a standard id (rare unless they travel with their families or are sick), they will likely have to use face id.
Face id. Of children. Through third party go-betweens that are heavily subject to data breaches. By ai scrapers and the like.
Do you want your children’s faces scraped for ai images for god knows what purpose? Call your fucking reps.
This will do nothing but endanger children and embolden the monsters that prey on them. Call your fucking reps.
The script to oppose KOSA (the Kids Online Safety Act) is now officially on https://5calls.org/. Call if you wanna kill KOSA again! It's a must if you don't want age verification in the US!
Steam, Itch.io and the banning of explicit and LGBT+ Content. What can we do?
[All images in this post have alt/id text if you need it or want to copy paste anything]
With no warning, Itch.io, a site where many host their indie games, comics, books and more, has started purging and shadowbanning explicit and LGBT+ works. Creators got no warning. And if they were still owed payouts from these works, Itch.io is saying they won't give them their money as they 'broke the rules'. Rules that were only just set in place, with no warning, and therefore no way for creators to try and draw out their money or delete these 'offending' works before they got banned under the new rules.
So Itch.io has been the most recent to fall to the demands of a group that's been contacting Visa and Mastercard and convincing them to threaten sites/businesses with 'stop selling what we consider to be explicit content on your sites of we'll stop allowing your site to have transactions with Visa and Mastercard'. Steam folded, and now Itchio has too. And a reminder earlier this year Gumroad also stopped allowing explicit content, further back than that Patreon banned some kinks and fetishes even if it's depicted in fiction not real life, and I don't have to explain to you guys the great Tumblr explicit content ban of 2018.
And as always remember this doesn't stop with sexually explicit work as LGBT+ stories and people are often labelled as explicit and already we're seeing works being taken off Itch.io that are about LGBT+ and especially trans stories. Other non-sexually explicit works I've seen already getting shadowbanned, delisted or deleted are SFW games featuring furries/anthros, SFW dress up games (because when you take the clothes the model is nude), and the aforementioned SFW games that include LGBT+ characters and stories.
I'm compiling here information I've seen around various social medias, mostly Bluesky, because I haven't seen all these things shared over here.
I don't personally have explicit content on itch, but I had been considering one day selling things on there and I do currently have explicit content on my Patreon, my main source of income, and am terrified that Patreon is going to fold next (if anyone knows alterative for hosting audio content behind a paid subscription service please let me know so I can start maybe making a back-up in case the worst happens). Because for me personally if Patreon goes next, it's not like I can go out and easily get another job. Not only because in general finding and getting a job is difficult enough, but I'm autistic and have chronic pain and have been constantly getting sick or new pains over the last few years and don't feel safe being trans in the UK right now and all of that combined rules me out of a lot of jobs and makes me feel unsafe to apply to any. I'm so grateful I've been able to make a community around my work, but if Patreon caves next and I just leave my SFW posts on Patreon... 10% of my Patreons are signed up to the SFW tier, 90% are signed up to the explicit tier... I know if Patreon caves I will go from someone living comfortably who's searching to move out of my parents so I can live in a safer environment to someone who can no longer even afford the rent I pay to my parents. I'll try and get an alterative found and set up in case that happens and I can only hope you guys will follow me to whatever other site I have to set up... but it feels unlikely that people will get a whole new account on a whole new payment provider just to support me on a website they might never have heard of...
But what can we do right now?

Don't know what to say on the phone? Here's a script written by timidtanuki:
Creators have had their work removed off Itch.io with no warning and since it's been removed for 'breaking the rules' (rules that were suddenly in place with no warning) they aren't entitled to get their payouts. Just like other sites such as Youtube and Twitch and Etsy, Itch.io hold onto money from their users in a wallet and then give them payouts. So there is money creators have made, are owed, that Itch.io is not giving to them.
People are recommending that if you still have works on Itch.io to turn down the revenue sharing to 0% so that Itch.io no longer takes a cut or your money if you no longer want to support Itchi.io finically but don't want to remove your works from their platform. X
Other Bluesky posts and calls to action I've seen:
radiantg.bsky.social is asking for anyone on Itch.io who got their game deindexed, removed , or payouts turned off to reach out to them (espeically if you make explicit and/or LGBT+ games) for a piece of journalism about what is happening.
sleepyhart.bsky.social is making a thread of all the games that Itch.io has censored/removed from their site search function. Obviously be aware this will include 18+ only games, games with sexual content and other dark or heavy themes.
thetransfemininereview.com wants you to reach out to them if you're a trans creator on Itch.io who is being affected by this so they can make an accurate report. they say 'authors' in their post and I'm unsure if they also want game devs to reach out.
dropdownbear.bsky.com wants you to reach out if you have purchased things on Itch.io that you can now no longer access because of this ban. they can include them in a report being filed with the Australian Consumer Commission as this may be a violation of Australian Consumer rights. If you are Australian you can no longer access things you purchased of Itch.io you can report directly with this guide.
It's a scary time for adult creators and sex workers. It's a scary time to be trans. Support creators. And if anyone knows of any alternate payment providers that allow explicit work, and/or alternate websites to Itch (and in case things get worse, also give me Patreon alternates please) where people can host, sell and/or offer paid subscriptions to writing, images, videos, audios, games and more please leave them in the replies. And please help share this post, the posts I'm linking too, and any other resources you can find.
EDIT: here's a part two of more resources, wasn't much point in adding them to this post when editing a post only changes it on my blog and not on any reblogs. which also means most people won't see this edit either, but i figured i'd but it in here in case because it does change it on your 'liked' version of the post so if anyone was saving the post for later in your likes you might see this edit.

Something terrifying about the way censorship is just straight up happening right now and they're barely trying to pretend that isn't what it is. The UK rolling out the Online Safety Act which forces anyone accessing 'adult' content (including discord, LGBT+ forums, various resources for drug addicts etc.) to share their face and ID with American third party companies, and refusing to debate a repeal in parliament despite 300,000 signatures on their own website to do so. Something fishy going on with Google docs suddenly deleting/restricting content. Itchio and Steam suddenly deleting 18+ games including both porn games and horror games at the behest of Mastercard.
Like. Truly in the past month the censorship is hitting like a truck and we're all just supposed to be fine with it. Like. It's genuinely making me feel sick.

How to help out in the Youtube Boycott
Thank you to @tomboyjessie13 for helping me understand how to boycott Youtube! Your comments were super helpful! Thank you for making me aware of Pandora as well!
This is also an addition to @gentleman-velvet's boycott plan.
Use youtube alternatives:
There are many youtube alternatives that you can use for a variety of purposes. Two examples are:
Internet Archive - good for educational videos and books that are either free or very cheap. It's also good for forgoing Google Books because of its wide selection.
Pandora - fantastic for music, finding podcasts, and comedians. There are a lot of music artists on there. Overall, it's a good site for finding people to listen to.
Here is an article that provides a list of alternatives with their pros and cons, alongside their prices (if they have any).
___
DO NOT USE A FRONT END YOUTUBE APPLICATION
Front enders like Freetube and Piped (including New Piped), are sites that are good for preventing Google from tracking you, but they still provide YouTube with traffic.
They are wonderful for preserving your privacy, but they are not good for a boycott.
To properly boycott YouTube, use the alternative sites like the ones listed that are completely separate and do not provide it with activity!
___
Download Youtube Videos:
At first, you may not think there is a way to do that, but there are several sites dedicated to allowing you to download them. The post I made on this is far more comprehensive.
Use Video Download Helper or a website like Yt1z to download as many videos as you can, so that you can watch these privately without giving YouTube any kind of data. (Remember, empty discs, USBs, and external hardrives still exist for storage.)
___
PIRACY
If you are using youtube for paid content, consider either alternative routes (such as netflix, hulu or whatever streaming services there are) or piracy.
If buying ain't owning, then piracy sure as hell ain't stealing. It has the same effect that not using youtube has, with the addition that you aren't giving the site money.
Be careful with piracy, they are trying to crack down on it and there may be unsafe sites that could compromise your security.
Use Pirate Bay with an alternative browser like Tor or a privacy based one like DuckDuckGo. I generally recommend using the Tor browser because your privacy is way more assured.
For legal reasons, I strongly suggest that you use alterative streaming sites that aren't YouTube but still don't involve piracy. (wink wink)
___
ANNOY THE HELL OUTTA YOUTUBE
Contact youtube via their email and phone number. Blow up their email and phone lines.
This site lists all the ways to contact them via the phone, letter or fax.
You can also email them at:
And you can get their attention on social media sites like Twitter (not calling it X).
Do not let up on contacting them until they repeal this decision.

A Lesson in Censorship
Words have started wars. They've built cults, rewritten truths, and kept people shackled in cycles of abuse, convincing them that silence is safety and pain is love.
But words also save us.
They help us process grief. They name the things no one else will. They connect strangers across oceans and generations. One sentence can crack open something you thought was dead inside.
Words can hold you when no one else will.
That’s why censorship isn’t just about controlling what we conume, it’s about controlling what we feel, what we know, and what we’re allowed to survive.
Censorship is slow suffocation.
Because when they take away our words, they’re not just silencing content.
They’re erasing the parts of us that dared to speak at all.

Info on Google Docs NSFW Lockouts
I've been helping friends who host NSFW content on Google Docs with backing up and migrating off it, so I figured I could share that here.
1: Facts about Google Docs banning/removing NSFW content
They've always done this, actually. It isn't new, although they do go through periods where they get more stinky about it. If you really look at their terms and conditions, they tell you that while they won't interfere with NSFW content in private files, they do reserve the right to meddle when you make that file public/share the link. The words are "you may not DISTRIBUTEadult content via GoogleDocs."
So when you enable a shared link on a file, like below, you're considered to be 'distributing' it.
As a side note, this also makes that file fair game to be fed into their AI training.
As far as I understand, sharing a file with a specific other account or several--such as editors or co-authors--does not count as public distribution.
More on how to protect yourself, back up your files and alternative services under the cut.
Can’t reblog this fast enough 🔮🔮 😂🥴
😂😂😂 thank you OP for this.
I love Hashi a lot but this is true.
He was so naive he actually thought that after he died Tobirama will somehow not persecute the Uchiha and honor his wishes pffft.
Hashirama is dangerous because of how naive he is.
His idealism of the military makes him dangerous just like Jiraiya.
In pursuit of doing what’s great he failed to consider doing what’s good.
that uchiha dick game must have been insane considering how many guys risked their lives for it.

Sasuke: Big brother, I hesitate to ask you this because I don’t want to be in your personal business, but … what’s your orientation?
Itachi: My orientation? Well right now I’d guess I’m facing about north, maybe north-east, so —
Sasuke: No! I mean, um, w-what kind of people do you like? Romantically?
Itachi: Oooh. Why do you wish to know?
Sasuke: I just wanted to know if, maybe, you ever liked boys? Like if that was a normal thing or completely weird? I tried to talk to father about this but all he did was clear his throat a bunch of times and tell me to do some push-ups.
Itachi: … is this about that blonde boy that you hang out with? The one in your genin squad?
Sasuke, blushing: N-no! Why would this be about that idiot?! He’s annoying and a loser and —
Madara, from behind his paper: In other words, you’re ready to propose marriage.
Itachi: Not helping, gramps. Sasuke, it’s completely normal and okay to have feelings for any and all types of people, regardless of gender. You shouldn’t decide whether you want a person based on what parts they do or don’t have; it should be based on their personality, their kindness, their interests, their soul.
Madara: For God’s sake, just because the boy is gay doesn’t mean you need to turn him into a sissy as well!
Itachi: Grandfather!
Madara: Listen, Sasuke. You go up to this boy and claim him, you hear me? Uchihas are conquerors, and we don’t easily lose. Lay waste to your competition and take what’s yours. This young man, what is his name?
Sasuke: Naruto Uzumaki. He’s —
Madara: UZUMAKI?! He’s from that treacherous clan?! Fuck that, stay far away from that boy and anything related to him! You’ll only end up heartbroken and alone!
Sasuke:
Itachi: … grandfather. Just because you had one teeny tiny bad experience with an Uzumaki doesn’t mean that —
Madara: UZUMAKI MITO STOLE HASHIRAMA FROM ME, boy!! All because he liked her stupid red hair and her stupid nine-tails!
Sasuke: Actually Naruto has the Fox inside of him now, grandpa.
Madara:
Madara: *unleashes an unholy shriek, sets the curtains on fire, and stomps out*
Sasuke: Just once. Just ONCE I’d like to be able to walk in here, ask for advice, and hear something both helpful and normal. Just. Freaking. ONCE.
Itachi:
