What if vampires made up all the stuff about them being allergic to garlic so that their victims would eat it, thinking it would ward off vamps, but instead it makes their blood easier to drink!

Because it doesn’t clot!

this is the moment. you are 11 or 17 or 21. and you realize that you’re more mature than they ever were. 

It’s about seeing my mom use childish tactics of name calling, and changing the topic to another issue when my sisters call her out on something. When my sister asked her what was so wrong about homosexuality and my mom only had one response, “It’s not normal,” to every follow up question my sister had. It’s when my dad decides to make a joke, and getting unreasonably angry when it’s not recieved well, deciding that we just can’t take a joke and not that he didn’t read the room right. It’s when my aunt is proud of herself for being close minded and laughs at my sisters and I for trying to say that maybe she shouldn’t be. 

As a younger teen I had a theory that because my mom ran a daycare out of our home for so many years that she now only knew how to argue like a child. It’s been years since the daycare and she still resorts to childish tactics. And as I got older I saw it more in the other adults in my life. My sisters see it too, and we’re becoming experts in how to navigate our them as if we were the parents learning how to control our children. 

I love my parents I really do. But at 23 years old it is indeed a bit sad and frightening to realise that these figures of authority really dont hold that much more over me in terms of maturity anymore. And that yeah, there are many scenarios I have to navigate as the adult in the situation, and be the one willing to let things go. 

Thor: “Fair maiden, would you join me on an excursion this evening, for merrymaking and perhaps a more intimate end to the night?”

Lesbian: “If I were into men, I’d totally take you up on it, but I’m gay”

Thor: “I hope I have not been impertinent! However, if you are not otherwise engaged, I may know someone more suitable to your affections.”

Every time this post re-appears on my dash it has gotten even better and cuter <3

In honor of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s recent 20th anniversary, I’ve been collecting my thoughts for this letter. It’s been hard to really describe my feelings and thoughts exactly, but here we go anyways.

When I was eleven I first began watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I really wasn’t even allowed to and actually got in trouble for it, but who cares about that. At that point I had only seen seasons 1, 2, and 3, and then I stopped for awhile. When I finally turned twelve, I realized something. I discovered I was gay and my world changed. I began watching Buffy again. Season 4 was an emotional roller coaster for my favorite character Willow, but it ended in her realization that she, too, was gay. I remember crying when she finally admitted it to her friends. I thought “I could do this too”. So I did. Willow is the reason I am out and proud today. She is the reason I became a gay activist and remain so to this day.

I want to thank you, Alyson Hannigan and Amber Benson for portraying the characters of Willow and Tara with such passion and bravery. In the time the show aired, there was little to nothing like the relationship they had on television. Being gay was still, for the most part, not okay. Gay marriage was barely even a thought, and you guys took a chance and made my life better for it. I don’t think you could ever understand how much seeing Willow and Tara together meant to me. It quite literally changed my life and I cannot thank you enough for that. I am not the first to feel this way, and I certainly won’t be the last. Though the show’s run is unfortunately long over, your performances as two of the most iconic gay characters in television history continue to affect and change the lives of thousands of people. You two will always have a special place in my heart and there is nothing I can ever do to repay you for the assistance you gave me in being able to love and accept myself.
