Hot take- I feel like some webtoons despite being well written, have really really really bad pacing
And I get that thereâs a page limit for each episode
But having a conversation while characters walk through a hallway/tunnel take up *checks notes* 4-5 episodes??? Genuinely insane.
And Iâm not saying long conversations that flesh out characters shouldnât happen but thereâs noooooo way Iâm gonna wait a week/spend coins on a chapter thatâs justâŚtalking.
I always feel a little insane when people act like media is high quality for having a lot of references. okay, the writers/directors know a lot of things, what do the references do for the narrative/character development? just because the references are there doesn't mean they are well placed or elevate the writing. genshin impact has a shit to of references to many religious texts that are integrated into the character lore and design. that doesn't fix pacing issues or how the lore is presented or other issues with character writing, does it?
Making this now because I forgot to do it on Fatherâs Day:
Whoâs the worst father in mascot horror?
William Afton đ°đ
Elliot Ludwig đ§¸đŚ´đ
Edwin Murray đđ
Henry Emily đťđ
Joey Drew đď¸đŤ
but SURE this woman joined the gojo clan
I mean, she did though. Like I agree that it's bad writing but it's still canon.
Gege can't write women. News at eleven.

Dookuâs father beating his ass for being force sensitive and Cosinga Palpatine immediately picking up that Palpatine was different and hating him is so interesting. Itâs just unfortunate that being force sensitive outside of being a Jedi or sith isnât explored. Itâs like that one good moment in the last Jedi when the kid uses the force to move the broom. Just makes me think of the kids growing up without the guidance the Jedi order provided.
Actually I can imagine the galaxy finding out Palpatine was force sensitive would have a really bad impact on the way they see force sensitives. Like they already hated the Jedi for the clone war, but imagine finding out the emperor was force sensitive on top of Vader being exposed as a former Jedi AND the poster boy of the war they already resented the Jedi over.
I think Lukeâs small isolated attempt at restarting the Jedi order is pretty realistic. It would have failed at being in anyway as influential or accepted as the old order, and could even be used to maintain the jediâs underdog status without just doing the empire again. It would have been a lot of fun to explore if theyâd thought about it more instead of just retreading the same shit.
Come to think of it, it really is insane that my entire country is burning alive and literally no one in the rest of the world cares. Thousands of Indians are dying every day from the heat, it's 45+ degrees in multiple areas, the government couldn't give two fucks, we're getting severe warnings and red alerts, and not a soul outside of South Asia is speaking about it because why would you ever care about brown people
please keep talking about how Becky from Maryland doesn't like the rising gas prices. It's clearly the more pressing issue.
the prototype is actually a massive boyfailure who does not have as much control as they've led us to believe
-despite his efforts to keep all the toys in the factory, gentle john and all the joyless managed to escape, and he's like "oh shit" and covers it up with a fake story in his little newspaper
-genuine fear isn't the only method he's used to keep his people in line but also making up random shit, like stories about the toys in safe haven eating each other to make them be like "ew"
-instead of boarding up the door to poppy's room or something to keep people out, he just painted cryptic warning signs on the wall which the player later ignores and waltzes in anyway
-his plan to make poppy see things his way by locking her in the case COMPLETELY backfired on him, and instead she emerged from the case as a homicidal little menace trying to blow everything up
-accidentally crushing the living hell out of his sister's face
-he gets the player to finally take down the doctor, thank god that tool is gone and there's no one left strong enough to oppose hi- oh shit he's back
You make a good point but come to think of it everyone in this game is a big fail one way or another lol. (I didnât realize this until now)
The adults failed themselves, each other and the children (I canât prove it yet but Gracie Green was seriously embezzling money from this company. Trust.)
The children more or less carry on this failure by not really breaking the cycle and then turning on each other.
The player (and poppy) themselves has failed a lot too.
And Iâd even argue that the hour of joy was ultimately a failure- Eddie, probably the most dangerous of the higher ups is still out there and so is another factory. (wait is Leith dead???) but side note: maybe Iâm crazy but wasnât there an email thread between the prototype and someone on the outside hinting that heâd made a deal with them for something -
absolutely you're right, i just picked on oliver specifically because i like to affectionately bully him đ¤Ł
everyone in this game is taking Ls, i don't really see anyone talk about this but poppy fucked up BIG time by exposing her true identity to leith pierre. that's what made the man realize that reanimating/immortality was possible
and i believe you may be thinking of preston willard? he was the one who got in contact with the prototype and told him he was gonna let out all the experiments so they could go free, and of course we all know what actually ended up happening, poor preston definitely had one of the biggest fails ever
đ I know even tho Oliver can probably flex that heâs in the lead on the scoreboard for Tiny Wâs tho đ one person playing all sides for how long yet coming out on top is CRAZY work - he might be a boyfailure but everyone else is a walking DISASTER and heâs gonna capitalize on it if itâs the last thing he does-
I think between trusting Leith when Ollie wouldnât talk, starting the toy war, abandoning her allies, trusting Ollie (trusting a body less voice over the phone when youâre living in the factory with an entity that constantly mimics voices is- a CHOICE) and coming up with a plan that eventually led to the death of safe haven Poppyâs unmatched in the amount of tragic Lâs sheâs taken - sheâs 0-4 against herself + her allies (the poor girl canât catch a break đ)
FOUND IT- tho I think itâs an email between 2 conspirators - I wonder what kind of deal the prototype made lol

I hate it when people try to justify a character being wasted/failing to do much in the grand scheme of things as the story being ârealisticâ or âtelling you that lifeâs not fair/good people get hurt sometimes.â
Like BRUH
I was not born yesterday
I know life is terrible and sucks and mistreats people
If I wanted to spend my time seeing that all I have to do is go outside or turn on the news not read some fictional story where the limitations to everything and anything is whatever the author imposes and not the actual constraints of reality.
Like be so fr pls.
JJKâs conservatives and the critique of them is shallow to me. The series keeps telling us that all they care about power, control, and protecting tradition, but they barely do anything that actually helps them maintain that power within the story. They seem to exist as an easy source of drama and conflict, but arenât allowed to exist outside of that.
My biggest issue is that the higher ups/ conservatives never acts like they understands self-preservation. Actual real systems built around hierarchy, control and tradition usually work hard to manage powerful people. They reward loyalty, keep important members dependent on the system, and make sure dangerous individuals donât become threats. But the higher-ups in JJK barely do any of that.
Gojo is the clearest example. The story says his birth changed the balance of the entire world. If thatâs true, then logically the higher-ups should constantly be trying to keep him under their thumb. They didnât even try make him loyal, limit his influence, or even build systems around the fact that heâs basically untouchable. Instead, they mostly just complain about him or try to kill his students while relying on him for practical everything. They fear him, but not enough to seriously adapt to the reality that he could destroy their entire system whenever he wants even when itâs explicitly obivous he wants reform of their system.
Even with someone like Geto, thereâs barely any sign that the system tried to keep one of its strongest sorcerers bonded to him it before things completely fell apart. Even after he went off the deep end, they have no practical response that one of their most powerful sorcerers went crazy and massacred an entire village. For a society supposedly obsessed with maintaining their power and their way of approaching sorcery, they donât even try to prevent any more Getos or even use him as a propaganda tool for the system. ďżź
Thatâs the main issue: the higher-ups are more told about than theyâre actually developed. The story says theyâre powerful conservatives protecting the status quo, but they rarely act like rulers who genuinely know how to hold onto power or even try to. They donât manipulate powerful sorcerers, they donât build loyalty, and they donât respond intelligently to threats inside their own system.
Because of that, they never feel like a real force running Jujutsu society. They mostly just exist to oppose the protagonists and represent âold traditions bad.â For a group that supposedly ruled the jujutsu world for generations, they come across as weirdly passive and underwritten.
I think my hottest take on ppt
Is that the player character is an actually terrible character whoâs lack of self autonomy brings everything down lol
Itâs an interesting choice for a story thatâs bread and butter is itâs characters to pretty much have everyone but its protagonist be a character-
It wasnât so bad in the first few chapters because youâre alone and thereâs not really much exchange/conversation to be had but then when chapter 4 comes out with all of its moral dilemmas and stuff - it just feels really irritating how the story wants you to care/question stuff but the most you can do is just say ââŚ.â And follow poppyâs orders without question
Genuinely why does the player trust/obey poppy so much? And even if you say âoh itâs bc of the prototype!â She was literally trying to lead us out of the game station in chapter 2 which by her own logic contradicts her own justification of not letting us go in chapter 3. But tbh If they had some type of relationship between her and the player maybe it wouldâve made sense but what reason is there to justify their lack of autonomy outside of what she tells them to do? The game constantly has people saying that poppy isnât the most trustworthy person to the playerâs face-
Itâs frustrating how quickly and seamlessly the playerâs motivation changes from chapter to chapter too-
1st chapter- you come back to find your coworkers but almost get mauled instead
2nd chapter- you understandably want to leave but poppy drags you further down into the factory
3rd chapter- you barely give poppy any pushback but decide to kill the prototype because oh no turns out your coworkers are all dead! (Zero in game reaction to this btw)
4th chapter- so the orphans are still alive (tbf this was mentioned in chapter 3 by Miss delight) but now youâre going to save them and kill everyone⌠(remember how chapter 3 told us we were haunted by guilt? Wouldnât that guilt have some impact when we hear Doey begging us to not throw everything away - eh maybe not)
Side note I have more reasons to want the prototype to lose than I do to want the player to actually win (if that makes sense- because those two sentences arenât mutually exclusive)
Because other than feeling bad for like Berleezy, Caseoh, Jacksepticeye etc why should I care about the player???
Theyâre literally more of a plot device than a person at this point and other than killing toys (toys that the narrative tries to get you to sympathize with too) what type of emotional weight and depth do they add to the story?
The prototype barely cares about the player beyond them being some obstacle to get to poppy that he wonât let die for some reason but thereâs so little flame behind this feud in the grand scheme of things it almost feels unfair that the player has been doing all of the work to reach this point only for the story to just say âlol itâs poppy vs the prototype insteadâ and make said player feel like an extra
Honestly at this point what is the point of waiting to the final chapter to reveal the players identity? Is it really worth withholding that information/limiting them as a character for years vs just revealing that from the get go and developing them over years/interacting with other characters?
One of the most irritating parts about being a critic in fandom spaces is seeing uncritical fans and defenders of media be so smug, arrogant, pretentious and obnoxious about things that they are demonstrably and laughably wrong on.
Someone once beautifully said that although fighting ability does not guarantee the quality of making a female character well written letâs not act like in many cases that lack of said fighting ability is often exploited/utilized to 100% sideline female characters from having narrative complexity in action/battle oriented stories
