Certain character bashing is just projection but y'all aren't ready for that conversation.
Like some of you just dislike a character because they remind you of someone who personally wronged you and then you make up headcanons about how you feel like that character would do something they never canonically did.
I am always open to analysis and criticism to character flaws and wrongdoings that are actually canon but some of you just be making shit up and exaggerating to make them look as bad as possible because you don't like them.

Our planet is fucking dying George… but sure bootlick and brown nose the thing killing it faster…
people on this site will deadass call you slurs for not knowing a thing canonized off screen was canon.
Also, another thing, stop suddenly excusing Jax’s actions because she was canonized as transfem. I recognize why she acted the way she did, BUT that doesn’t excuse her behavior towards others in the show.
Edit: people are saying I have bad media literacy, brother, even at the end of ep 9 they still refer to Jax with he/him. Another thing is this post is a general statement about the behavior of people within the fandom, not a personal experience. I believed in transfem Jax back when that was just a theory, but that’s only because I have a transfem friend who acts in a similar way (she has been getting better with interacting with people and understanding her friends aren’t out to hurt her, do not insult her you will be blocked.) If I didn’t have her as a friend, I’d say Jax presents as a cis man struggling with toxic masculinity, which is what everyone was claiming about her before transfem Jax was even a theory.
What the hell is going on heehee tumblr............

It's shocking in a way but also not how in different fandom spaces the majority opinion is treated as "obviously correct" and you're weird or wrong or actively malicious for not having it. Which I guess is true for every community space but it just struck me with fandoms in particular recently. Because it's not based on anything objective or necessarily true about the work the fandom is about, just subjective opinions that can change over time or in different spaces. But it colours so much about how you're "allowed" to talk about certain things. What kind of jokes and memes are popular, how harshly you can criticize some things or characters, what the "good" canon entries/characters are that "everybody" likes and what the "bad" canon entries/characters are that "everybody" likes the least. It's all fun and cool when you share these popular opinions, but when you don't? Then it starts feeling weird because you actively notice how many casual statements just take everyone having the popular opinions for granted. And how you get questioned or made to feel wrong when you state something that goes against this popular opinion. No one is immune to this because at a certain point of spending time in spaces with certain dominant opinions it just feels self-evident that they are "correct" and anyone saying otherwise gets at the very least a "Huh?" reaction. It's so noticeable with fandoms because the canon material stays the same (or only gets added to) and you can so easily notice the difference in dominant opinions across different fandom spaces or even the same fandom space but over multiple years. And what I probably like the least about this is how it influences these opinions and the way people express them. The dominant opinions get constantly reinforced and everyone is confident expressing them, you don't really view them critically. When you have unpopular opinions you might start to question them, being hesitant to express them or expressing them in appeasing ways as to not come off as too harsh. It might even make you rethink these opinions or double down on them all the more.
I think it's pretty much impossible to not be influenced by stuff like this though I definitely also tend to question myself a lot. Sometimes I like seeing stuff that goes against my opinions because it's interesting to debate and engaging with genuine criticism can give you more insights into the matter itself. But most of the time I primarily try to focus on myself and my enjoyment (or not enjoyment) of something and not being reactive to what other people think about the thing or about my opinions of the thing.
"I know it's canon bc I read it in a fanfic" FANFICS! ARE NOT! REFLECTIVE! OF CANON!!!
