[Masked Self] | [Self Unmasked]
Alabaster
Plaster
The Master
Typecaster.
With Wet
Cement
I lament
Fear it's permanent.
Chiseling
Here's the thing
Was dizzying
Mind altering.
The Plaster
Dried Faster
Couldn't blast her-
The Spell caster.
Lackluster
Ball buster
Men to fluster
All she could muster.
Masquerade
Whole charade
Made me frayed
In her violin's serenade.
She controlled
I was cajoled
Couldn't get paroled
Is how it rolled.
Anger to red
Soul wound bled
Tomorrow's day's dread
Words to be said.
You is you
Who is who
Fade to blue
Sorrow rings true.
Life's suprises
All these disguises
Manipulizes
As the "real world" criticizes.
But I took a turn
Ended my sojourn
Decided to learn
To better discern
The naked face
Mine to embrace
Friends to grace
As I held my space.
I pulled through
The me inside grew
Stretched my worldview
Felt my Self renew.
Temptation thwarted
To be genuine rewarded
Became straightforward
Real in life came forward.
Life without masks
The everyday task
Shed the burl-asque
In order to bask
In the glow
But I want you to know
You can show
You, even in woe.
We to show
The real sorrow
Buried below
So long ago.
Fake us to rip up
Truth serum sipped up
Saccharin syrup
Forevermore given up.
Costumes unzip
No more ego trips
Truth from our lips
Deepening friendship.
You be real
I unconceal
Together we feel
At long last, we heal.
