I just re-read good omens and i just love how clear the book makes it that crowley isnt cool. Hes literally just dressing up as what he thinks a cool human is!!!
He is anxious and erratic and has no control over what is going on and he is always running away. When driving up to the site of armageddon the one thing he actually wants to do is get pissed and wait for it all to happen.
When he knows that he fucked up and Hastur and Ligur are coming to get him, he is pacing through his flat, watching TV, starts putting his casette collection into alphabetical order before realising it is in order already and he is soso scared.
Most of his evil deeds come back to bite him in the ass. He even thinks that letting hastur, who is trapped on a tape, turn into the best of queen is too evil. And then hastur escapes and eats an entire telemarketing-office.
And then there is Aziraphale being an absolute brick headed bitch. Oh yea we should just kill the 11 year old that is the antichrist but i cant do it because im the good guy so i will just get the insane old witchfinder dude to do it with his huge gun. Aziraphale is always ready to face problems once he actually sees them.
Book Crowley also yearned to do bad things naturally as a demon. He couldnât help it.
âCrowleyâs hands itched. Aziraphale healed bicycles and broken bones; he longed to steal a few radios, let down some tires, that sort of thing. He resisted it.â

Idea for a fic where the apocalypse happens a year after S2, because Aziraphale says no to the Metatron after the kiss and Michael takes over instead. The pair make a bucket list. It contains things like âkiss under the Eiffel Tower,â written by Aziraphale, which Crowley thinks is corny, but he sneakily books a hotel by a restaurant known for their crepes anyway. Their last few months are set in a lovely garden. When they both are watching the night sky and their ears start to ring, they hold each other close. Both saying, âI love you,â before theyâre standing in Heaven and Hell. They are forced to fight for opposing sides of the Eternal War that will rampage across the entirety of the universe.
The angels and demons fight in their corporeal forms. Bodies being sliced apart to be put right back together again. There are no places to hide. There is nowhere to run or speak to each other without someone listening in. Theyâre watched like hawks after Adamâs âfailure.â Upper management yearning to use them as examples. In the end, there is only two options: fight or truly die. Crowley isnât going to let that happen to his angel, and Aziraphale isnât letting it happen to his demon. This starts a new Arrangement.
It starts with the pair fighting like their angelic or demonic counterparts, but still protecting the other. Crowley moving a fight farther away from Aziraphaleâs team. Aziraphale killing a group of demons planning Crowleyâs death. When Crowley dies for the first time, the angel canât help the enraged scream that claws its way from his throat. In his distress, a demon is able to drive a sword into his back. Both of their bodies fighting to rebuild. With their non-corporeal forms waiting in the in between, they attempt to talk. Thereâs still other beings milling about rebuilding themselves, but for the first time, in centuries, they can speak. After such a long time, going without speaking to the other was the torture which is why they started kill one another.
It started as a demon and angel changing their minds and fighting for what they really âbelievedâ in after rebelling for so long. Instead of staying away from fights, they start sparking them. Instead of following, theyâre leading. They want to be at the center of the worst battles. The more gruesome the death, the longer their bodies need to regenerate.
One fateful night, a battle rages on and on. Aziraphale has been brutally cut down. Crowley has slowed in his own fighting, trying to take in more damage. Heâs timing their deaths so that they die at the same moment. His head swings to the right when he hears his angelâs choking on his own blood. Aziraphale had been successful in loosing to the demons before him. Crowleyâs hit hard in the side and takes an arrow to the back. On the ground, waiting for death, he hears his angel call out.
âPlease. I canât do it myself.â
Even with his eyes bleary from tears, Crowley can see the knife held in Aziraphaleâs hand. He canât be asking what he thinks heâs asking. The demon hears his pleas. There are many impossible things. This morning, Crowley wouldâve sworn that killing Aziraphale himself was one of those impossible things, but now, as he hears his pained gasps; he forces his body to crawl.
When he sees his eyes, his real eyes, up close after so long, time stands still. Later, theyâd wonder if he had actually stopped it. The angelâs barely has a voice left, but he uses it to apologize. Apologize for asking his lover to kill him. If itâs a mercy to oneself, but not to another, then is it really mercy at all? Crowley shakes his head hard. No, this wasnât killing his lover. This was releasing him from his pain. Theyâd see each other soon. This he says to convince himself before reaching for Aziraphaleâs hand thatâs holding his blade.
A second arrow hits him in the top of his back. He falls forwards onto Aziraphaleâs chest. The demon chokes out a gasp of surprise. He had forgotten what it was like to touch and be touched without malice. He had forgotten the warmth of the angel who always seemed to run hot around the serpent. He wouldâve basked in it, but he could hear the crackling in Aziraphaleâs lungs more clearly now. Crowley replaces his hand for the blade. With an apology on his lips, he made sure to slice into the angelâs heart with one determined push. It may as well had been his own, he thought. His corporation didnât want to last much longer after that.
Millennia had passed since that night. After that, they willingly slide their blades into each otherâs chests, because it is the only time in existence where they can touch each other. It hurts to kill each other, but when Crowley snarls adorations into his ear as he dies, he can bear it. The stray red curl that tickles his face before the final blow really makes it all worth it, Aziraphale thinks
I donât think Aziraphaleâs love for Crowley was is the most predictable thing in the universe.
I think it's the opposite, actually.
Yes, Aziraphale is an angel, he loves, thatâs what he does. But heâs not supposed to love a demon. Because of what he is, of who he is, he struggled with his feelings for Crowley for millennia. And yet, each time they met, he made the choice to speak with him, to protect him, to stay, to bond - to love.
In a universe in which angels and demons are supposed to be hereditary enemies, an angel chose a demon, over and over again (with a few notable exceptions, but we all know why - and he still loved him).
Messy? Oh, yes.
Silly? How can such a relationship, built on trust and affection, be silly?
S3 Good Omens Spoilers. This isnât complaining about anything. Itâs thoughts on Crowleyâs decisions towards the end. Itâs a meta ramble. Have a nice day/night/whenever đ
Crowley sets the new universe up the exact opposite of his star systems. All of them were pre-aged. Made to look like they were there billions of years before they were so that when humans looked at them later; theyâd believe the universe was older than it was. Itâs in the same vein as âthe dinosaurs were a joke that the paleontologists hadnât worked out yet.â
No afterlives, none of that. Just energy going where it needs to go. Souls melting back into the universe wherever theyâre needed until the inevitable heat death of the everything. In his words, âHumans are gonna human.â
In his set up though, there definitely could be aliens. There could also be a Doctor Who. Imagine that!

Spoilers for the Good Omens finale(and S4 of Umbrella Academy only a little). Just thoughts
Why do some writers think that itâs a happy ending when their characters erase themselves from existence, specifically to save the universe? All I hear is, âthe universe is going to end because of you, the universe is genuinely better off without you, the universe only wants to exist without you in it.â They fought so long and hard for a peaceful life. They wanted to just be happy and left alone.
Somehow they managed to make the hated âturning them into humansâ even worse. Those two were just two people who had their faces and hair color. Didnât even style their hair the same. If Crowley and Aziraphale had turned human(a short life to them since theyâre immortals, but their human bodies would be their 50s) , theyâd probably accidentally kill themselves within the week, but at least theyâd be themselves.
Look, Iâm extremely happy that we got an ending at all after S2. Iâm just tired that that ending has happened twice to my favorite shows(Umbrella Academy) which both had terribly traumatized people de-exist themselves to save a universe that believed it was better off without them. Also, in both, the universe gets remade. They didnât even save the people that they began with. It just restarted.
My opinion doesnât matter. I just like running my mouth. If you liked it, thatâs great. Did I hate it? No. It wasâŚ.fine. It needed time that they didnât have which isnât their fault. If it still ended with the doppelgängers though, Iâm not sure that I wouldâve been happier. Iâm done now. Hope you have a nice day :)
*any time I say their/they, I mean the people who were working on the show*
the virgin umbrella academy message ("your suffering and trauma is your fault and you should be erased from existence for the benefit of others") vs the chad deadpool and wolverine message ("no matter what's happened you can get better, you can find love and continue forward even at rock bottom")
It just happened to the finale of Good Omens as well. Why do some writers think that itâs a happy ending when they make their characters erase themselves from existence? Especially when they fought so long for a peaceful life.
I love how Michael's features point up (towards heaven) and David's features point down (to hell). Michael's face has soft curves (like an angel), whereas David has sharp edges (demonic).
It not only suits their characters so much, it also emphasises how Aziraphale and Crowley are polar opposites.
I can't believe that they are real people, because from a character design standpoint they are made for their roles.
The void around them... the bookshop where the light is always on for them... and some creep following them, WHAT IS HAPPENING
Iâm already seeing theories that in the end thereâll be nothing left except the bookshop, BUT PLEASE NO, IâM SCARED.
And by the way, this intro is different from the other two because in the first two theyâre always going somewhere. But now theyâve finally arrived. At the bookshop. Their home.

I choose to believe that the guy âflirtingâ with Aziraphale thinks that Crowleyâs affiliated with Ms. Sandwichâs shop. Or just more of the shopkeepers. The sweet bookshop owner living it up with the pimp from across the street in a fancy car with dark glasses
Oh, a topic I know well! lol. I think Mr. Brown went for escort just because of Aziraphale's personality and Mr. Brown's crush on him but I could see it. Crowley's been mistaken for that before. It's the sunglasses and dark clothes. That's likely why he and Mrs. Sandwich put up that "don't pay the guy in the blue glasses-- he doesn't work here" sign on the door. (Blue, in its meaning of erotic.)
Crowley is the exact opposite of a pimp but people have absolutely mistaken him at different times for that before, as well as one of the seamstresses. He's just the house cat, though.
This is your reminder to reread Good Omens before the Finale
In the jeep, Crowley was cursing. Aziraphale laid a hand on his shoulder.
âThere are humans here,â he said.
âYes,â said Crowley. âAnd me.â
âI mean we shouldnât let this happen to them.â
âWell, whatââ Crowley began, and stopped.
âI mean, when you think about it, weâve got them into enough trouble as it is. You and me. Over the years. What with one thing and another.â
âWe were only doing our jobs,â muttered Crowley.
âYes. So what? Lots of people in history have only done their jobs and look at the trouble they caused.â
âYou donât mean we should actually try to stop Him?â
âWhat have you got to lose?â
Crowley started to argue, and realized that he hadnât anything. There was nothing he could lose that he hadnât lost already. They couldnât do anything worse to him than he had coming to him already. He felt free at last.

âI looked for fingerprints through a magnifying glass, and fingerprints.â
Aziraphale must have put them in charge of finding the Book of Life/whoever stole it. He doesnât trust the archangels not to lie to him. If theyâre in Heaven, whoâs watching the bookshop, or are they going back in forth? Giving updates?

I love how Good Omens sets up delivery as a major motif.
Deirdre and Harriet give birth.
"I should know. I delivered the baby. Well, not 'delivered' delivered... Handed it over."
Leslie delivers the items of the apocalypse to the Horsepeople.
Baddicombe delivers the box containing the Further Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter.
Gabriel (the "stripper delivery-gram") arrives with a box and a message he can't remember.
Bildad and Aziraphale use their obstetrics skills to deliver the newt children.
Maggie's note in the mail slot. Shax delivers Crowley's mail. Furfur delivers a playbill to Hell. Broken liquor bottles to a theatre. Bodies and not-herring soup to a surgeon. Pneumatic tubes in the opening sequence. Aziraphale steps into the Dirty Donkey elevator -- which has a mail slot in its door -- on his way to be delivered to Heaven.
So delivery surely has major significance to the finale.
The nativity?
The salvation definition of deliverance, as in, "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil"?
