Shoutout to Ned Dennehy for taking every scene with Hastur and dialing it up to 1000. The screaming fit after Ligur gets his terminal bath, the weird moaning as he bites his own knuckle until it bleeds, the creepy hysterics at “one big avocado,” the way he is CLEARLY unused to modes of transportation that exceed 15mph and looks like he’s gonna barf in the Bentley - all so excessively perfect. A+ Hastur.

I recently had a heated argument with an older writer, who claimed (very rudely) that "Authors don't actually care about their fan base aside from what they can gain from it. Money. Fame. Etc. Stop talking about Neil Gaiman like he's your friend or mentor or inspiration or something. You do realize that he doesn't actually really care about you, right? You're being foolish." What would you, personally, say to someone like this?
I think someone like that has made their mind up, and that facts aren’t going to change what they think, so I wouldn’t waste my breath on trying to change their mind. And that they sound like they are dealing with more than the usual share of pain and regret.
I’m sure that what they said is indeed true of some authors, but they tend to be in the minority. Mostly, authors care about their readers. Yes, you keep us alive, but you are also all people – nice, interesting people. (And very few authors are not also fans of other authors. We all started out as readers.)

Why I headcanon Aziraphale as being good at sword fighting:
1) He holds the flaming sword correctly, with the dominant hand at the top, making sure not to “choke the thumb” in the grip (I’m using a gladius sword as reference here).

2) He seems perfectly comfortable holding it, despite it being on fire. He’s just walking around with it.
3) In the book, we have this line:
He’s referring to lighting the sword on fire, be he could also be referring to the knowledge of how to use the sword.
4) Unlike War, Aziraphale does not do fancy tricks while holding the sword. There’s a certain level of discipline and respect he gives it. He sees it as a weapon, not a toy.
This is the most dramatic movement he does with it. Also, notice his stance: He places his feet shoulder-length apart. In a fighting stance.
Aziraphale doesn’t want to use a sword. He doesn’t want to fight in a war. But that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t know how to use a sword. How to hold it. How to stand while holding it. And the respect a weapon should be given.

I wanted it made but I didn’t want to make it. I knew ithat making it would mean years of work and a huge pay cut. (It’s much better paying to be a bestselling novelist than to be a writer and showrunner for the BBC.) And there was no guarantee it would be any good.
So if Terry hadn’t asked me to make it, I would have let someone else write it and showrun it.

“I say, didn’t you have a sword before?“ the demon asked, noting its absence for the first time. “Sword? Me?” Crowley repeated, as if surprised by the question. “No,” he continued, though not very convincingly, and after a moment spent attempting to ignore the demon’s baffled skepticism, finally added, “…well, yes. Alright. Might’ve done.” When the angel didn’t elaborate, seeming to find the spectacle of the oncoming storm of greater interest than their conversation, Aziraphale asked in a polite yet pointed tone, “Well, what happened to it? Not the sort of thing to walk off on their own, swords; even the flaming ones.” Finally, Crowley glanced sidelong at his companion and found the demon gazing at him quite steadily with his unnerving golden eyes and the air of a person that could go on doing so all day. “Oh alright, I gave it away! There, happy now?“ the angel admitted with a sound of disgust as he gestured out towards the sand wastes were, if one knew where to look, a couple could be seen trekking along a dune, flaming sword in hand. Whatever answer Aziraphale had been expecting, that certainly hadn’t been it. Neither was the irked, almost flustered explanation that followed and ended with the angel sulkily contemplating the distant horizon once more in what the demon found himself thinking was a rather adorable attempt at ignoring him. A huff of laughter broke the strained quiet that stretched between them and, without giving it a second thought, Aziraphale remarked, “That was… very kind of you.” ((Color? What is color? I still have no freaking clue, lol. Have some more Demon Aziraphale from my omen swap au anyways XD ))
I would love to have a pajama party/sleepover with Azi and Crowley. Maybe the weather is dreadful and Azi won't let us go out and insists we spend the night. We drink tea, get cozy on a sofa... play truth and dare that becomes more be more naughty as the night goes on~
