Omg, I just sat through the most wooden voice acting I have come across in a game in a long time. Extremely wooden. That cutscene was about 4 minutes, and it felt like an hour. I'm 80% sure whoever is voice acting the player character had his voice pitched lower in post for some reason. It was a hard sit through.

One particular line that was meant to have an emotional journal was said in a flat tone the whole way through. I've never had a reaction before to voice acting where I've wanted to pick up the character, shake them like a blorbo, and go, "Put some emotion into it!"

The game (The Watchmaker) is from 2001, and it makes me appreciate how good we have it with voice acting in games when it is done well.

Why am I interested in The Watchmaker? It's a detective game that promoted itself as a game that gives you the freedom to explore a large 3D world at your own pace instead of on a linear line (kinda like Mystery of the Malign before Mystery of the Malign was even a thing) AND let's you switch between multiple player characters that have their own personalities and gameplay traits (kinda like the TKKG series by Tivola).
