Déjà vu: In 2014, Ilya shocks the world and breaks Shane's heart by disappearing without explanation and without a goodbye kiss.  In 2024 after a career ending injury, Shane retires to coach girls hockey and figure out the rest of his life, but when newly divorced Ilya shows up with his twin girls, Shane has to decide if he’s brave enough to risk a rekindled romance with the first and only boy he ever loved.  

Should have 34-ish chapters and updates mostly weekly! Tagged #TwinVerse or #DejavuVerse for asks and snippets of upcoming chapters.

Can't Stop Thinking About:

The JAMMIES. I love how much that means in this AU. I saw a post ages ago that was about Shane keeping Ilya’s clothes post tuna melt and how Ilya would react to seeing them in Shane’s closet/room after they reconciled and damn, I just could not let that go.

Just wanted to say I’m seriously thinking about re-baking for a second time, I’m just so obsessed with Déjà vu I feel like I’m living 24/7 in Montbonne, like pls don’t ever get me out of this little cozy town with its beautiful people 😭

Last chapter was MY FAVORITE (at least till now) and omg I’ve read it nonstop since it came out. I can’t wait to get more (and proper) family time with Shane and the twins, I’m giggling just thinking about it.

I’m so happy it’s around 34 chapters at the moment cause when I just arrived at Montbonne there were only 25 and I started it and finished it while there were only 15 released, so this feels like heaven. I swear I would read and re-bake a thousand times even if it were 400 chapters long, you just have a way with writing and creating stories that’s so compelling and addictive and I just can’t get enough, every single line you write is a line I savor with extreme delight. I know I might be getting too intense about this but well, I arrived at Montbonne one day taking a leap of faith (bc I NEVER start unfinished fics) and i haven’t been the same since, it literally changed my life and now I could never and would never go back to the way it was before it. So thank you so much for creating such a wonderful story and characters (my beloved twins) and sharing it with the world ❤️

Oh my gosh, I think 21 was maybe my favorite too?? Idk it was just so SATISFYING to see Shane stepping up without being afraid or hesitating. He just locked in the way THE Shane Hollander locks in when he's made up his mind what he wants and we love to see it.

Loved this journey for Shane and Ilya through monkhood but having them finally put and end to it and it being SHANE who asked for it? Perfect, no notes.

I have particularly enjoyed this progression for Shane and it makes so much sense for who he canonically is as well? Yes, he is insecure and questions himself constantly, but when he makes up his mind he LOCKS IN and its such a joy to see it and watch Ilya melt right through the floor when he sees his boyfriend being so intentional about wanting him and their relationship.

Finally, probably my favorite trope for hurt/comfort is "character who is always taking care of everyone even when he is sick, gets to be sick and taken care of for the first time" so yes, I was so so happy with this last chapter in specific.

Can't wait for the twins to know their Papa and Coach are 💫together💫 and I can't wait for the 20k+ words of it hahahaa

Okay but seriously that is my FAVORITE thing about Shane-- how as soon as he makes up his mind that he's gonna get/do something, there is literally nothing that will stop him from doing it. We see it in canon with winning, we see it when he locks in Tampa and decides Ilya is HIS, we see it when he starts planning their future.

And yeah in Deja Vu, it's taken Shane a long time (word wise, not timeline wise) to get to this point with Ilya, but he is HERE, he is READY, he is locked the fuck in. Every once in a while I'll be working on a scene with Shane and be like wait, does that seem OOC? and then I remember I am writing a character who canonically stated an entire charity so he had a plausible reason to be around the love of his life. Like Shane really set out to change hundreds of kids lives just so he had a chance to be with Ilya more often without anyone being suspicious. Him buying cute carseats for the twins is literally the most in character thing EVER.

I found this long neck at a garage sale a couple months and giggled myself silly putting her on the garden thinking of the brachiosaurus scene in the first Jurassic Park movie and how utterly gobsmacked Dr Grant is to see them.

I hope wherever Dr Alan Grant is resting is beautiful.
