Prey populations bounce back faster than their predators. The higher on the food chain something is, the slower it reproduces

So if you kill all the bugs in your yard, you're not only killing "pests" but all the predators that keep the population of those pests in balance with everything else

The pests will recover faster than their predators, and since the predators are gone...you get more pests than you ever had to begin with

To make matters worse, populations of many common "pest" insects evolve resistance to pesticides hella fast. Mosquitoes got DDT resistant in some areas like...a year after they started spraying DDT

And EVEN WORSE

A lot of harmless creepy crawlies that people want to kill (Spiders, ants, beetles) are actually the main predators of ticks, which can actually make you sick.

It's basically like an addiction. You spray your yard for pests, for a while it looks like they're all gone, but then all of a sudden, the pests come back with a vengeance. Better spray again to make sure they're gone! The cycle repeats. The infestations get worse and worse and you buy more and more poisons to get rid of them and it just keeps going.

Especially considering it would be easier to carry him into the Hail Erid? Erid Mary? Whatever. Like, since I assume, the carapace of an eridian is not letting a simple needle pierce through, and like drugging his food would be difficult since the brat barely eats because A) they eat every few days/weeks(?) and they were on a time crunch and B) even if he was scheduled to eat, Grace would just postpone in favor of science, his ass does NOT take care of himself.

Eg there's no he/she/they (for conscious beings - they likely have a separate pronoun for inanimate objects, or living beings that aren't conscious) Instead Eridian's use; stranger, acquaintance, leader, boss, co-worker, friend, partner, direct family relation, relation through marriage, ect. So in casual conversation it's like:

Grace: "Hey Rock, how was your meeting today? :]"

Rocky: "Meeting good! Mary very pleased with biodome lights review from Grace, leader very proud of work. Wave worker Terrance discover issue in programming, when lights off waves also off. Worker need more time to fix, much, much, much effort to fix! Rocky say calm down, Grace not going near waves when light down anyway!" Rocky chitters when Grace flicks his xenonite suit playfully.

"Yeah, cos I'd be asleep." Grace rolls his eyes pointedly.

"Sleep so much... Follow up, how Grace day?"

"Good, Ally came by to do my monthly check up... I've noticed there was a different doctor every time, until I said I liked Ally and now doctor's the only one I get- Wonder who organised that, huh?"

"Rocky not know what Grace mean. Continue day?" Rocky says innocently.

Tbh if that was my only view whenever my buddy pulled out a snack I'd probably be a little grossed out too.
