Let me present you the final Thesis of my Master of Fine Arts in Media Art & Design at the Bauhaus Universität Weimar. Feel free to contact me if you would like to have a PDF copy of the complete work.
The concept of this work started with a deep research and analysis of the Bauhaus 1919-1933, some of the works and relevant concepts that came out of it making a big change in the history of art and design. During the research period, I was constantly amazed by everything I found and every story I was told about this short but intense period of time when the Bauhaus existed. Everything started when I asked myself; what if these artists were alive today? What if they were my teachers? What would they do with their own design and art knowledge adapted to our actual context? What if these big artists from the past like Kandinsky, Schlemmer, Moholy Nagy and so many others were born in later generations? What would they do with tools that they didn’t have at that time? How would they include the new technologies, new materials and new realities we see today? It is with these kinds of questions in mind that my challenge starts. I decided to make a reinterpretation of some of the well- known Bauhaus Masters main design concepts. What if Kandinsky had the opportunity to emphasize his theory that said that every primary form belongs to a primary color in an interactive way? Or what if Schlemmer could bring these forms and colors to life not only on a stage but also allow people to arrange their own forms, angles and colors through individual body movement? What if Moholy Nagy could bring his Light Modulator concept onto another level where everyone could interact with the modulator and depending on where they stand or what they do, influence the kind of light and shadow effects one can start to analyze?
Indeed, these questions enabled me to develop the concept of my master thesis. It is based on an experimental interactive reinterpretation of some of the most basic, as well as some of the most relevant concepts, of the “old” Bauhaus: Form & Color inspired by Wassily Kandinsky; Motion inspired by Oskar Schlemmer and Light & Shadow inspired by Lázsló Moholy-Nagy.
Here is a complete documentation about the Bauhaus Robots from their very beginnings until their main performance at the Expo Milano 2015 during the Thuringia Week in the German Pavilion
My conclusion to this unforgettable experience is that using any kind of interaction in this type of massive fairs is definitely a good way of using and experimenting with a new media.
It was a great possibility to show and test my work. I can confirm that the goals of engaging and entertaining the EXPO visitors with a little of the old and new Bauhaus history was accomplished.
Even Mr. Ramelow, the Minister President of Thuringia in Germany, interacted with the Bauhaus Robots and was trying to carefully understand how they worked. Specially the blue one which was staring at him with close attention to his complete blue suit.

Everything is set at the EXPO Milan 2015!
The Thuringia Week is already happening and everything in the German Pavilion has turned “Thuringian blue” as well as “Bauhaus designed”.
The Bauhaus Robots are scanning every visitor of the Pavilion in detail, but they choose only to interact with those wearing the Bauhaus colors. Specially our youngest visitors are enjoying this “dance” with the bauhaus forms the most.

»As I started researching about the Bauhaus courses and workshops, the names of Kandinsky, Klee, Itten, Albers and many others came up. One thing was more interesting than the other, but particularly what at first called my attention was the investigation and analysis of Kandinsky about form and color.
This interesting deep analysis of the three simplest forms is what gave me the fundaments of making an interactive reinterpretation of Kandinsky’s yellow triangle, red square and blue circle. I wanted to somehow engage the audience in the EXPO with my installation in an interactive and instinctive way.
So I came to the idea of making three robotic sculptures in form of the three »Bauhaus forms« that are able to recognize colors through a programmable camera sensor. Every time a visitor that wears blue, yellow or/and red passes by the sight range of these three sculptures, the respective sculpture follows the person with its sight being able to move its head 180°.
The visitor can stay playing with the sculpture as long as he/she wants. This installation is supposed to reach and engage a wide target group from different cultural backgrounds, ages and gender through simple, understandable and playful interaction.« Jorgelina Garcia

Here is a short video taken during a hard training of one the Bauhaus Robot Prototype. Everything seems to be ready to go to Milan!
More info is coming soon :)
I’m happy to announce that part of the recent interactive project I’ve been working on during the last months will be exposed at the EXPO Milano 2015 ( http://www.expo2015.org/en/ ) in the German Pavilion as part of the Thuringian Week.
The exhibition is about today’s Bauhaus, and is curated by Michael Ott, Mathias Schmitt and Markus Weisbeck. I will be presenting three “Bauhaus Robots” as an interactive installation.
Many thanks to the two persons who helped me produce the installation, Rene Schwolow ( http://www.reneschwolow.com/ ) and Marc Ehrle ( www.soogdesign.de ) as well as the wonderful curators who did a great job and made all of this possible (SCHMOTT - www.schmott.co/ - & Markus Weisbeck).
If you happen to be around in Milano between 31.08 and 06.09, come check it out!

This particular board game has the looks of a regular one. It has a board, dices, small detective figures, cards, and so on. But this peculiar board has a hidden electronic brain that makes it more interesting. It has the possibility to connect through the cloud to other board games and enable the game to be played with other users in any other part of the world.
The game itself, is a crime game that in its very first edition takes place in the city of Weimar, Germany. On top of a colourful hexagonal board placed over the map of Weimar, the players take the roll of detectives. They have to go through six different areas and get as many clues as possible to solve their cases.

The YOU vs. KIOSK Project was exhibited for a week long. Many people played to have fun, because they were curious or to avoid the cold.
As there were not many rules to play, it was very interesting to see how did people interact with a big box of lights. Here is a better explained video showing what exactly the project is about.
You vs Kiosk is a game displayed in Kiosk.6 in Weimar.
From 12.11.13 till 17.11.13 from 5pm to 12am.
Together with Micha Ott and Sebastian Wolf we developed a game with similar instructions to Simon Says.
Each of the four windows of the squared Kiosk have four different colors. Everyone have a button which you have to press when following the sequence that Kiosk says.
The game can be played alone or in teams.
Here the rules:
1. START
Press the Button two times. The Lights start to flash several times, the game starts.
2. The Kiosk starts blinking with a color, wait until he finishes. Go to the relative side and press the colored button to blink with the right color.
PRESS gently! do not hit the button. You have enough time.
3. In every round a new color is added to the sequence. Keep the sequence in mind an press the buttons in the right order. Wait until the Kiosk has repeated the whole sequence plus one more color.
4. If you fail to get the right order, all lights start to flash several times and you have to start over again.
Done!

The Aura Photography Project
Together with the SCHMOTT photographers, we made a performative installation at the NACHTDIGITAL Festival (Olganitz, Germany) in August 2013. The topic of the event was UTOPIA and ours inside of it was UNSERIOUS SCIENCE. So we decided to fake the famous Aura Camera, take a photo, print it, stick it to the Vynil of the Festival and sell them with a personal auratic photo.
With an arduino set into the camera, three different sensors, and 3 RGB LEDs, we made our own AURA Camera.
In the NACHTDIGITAL Festival, we were part of an amazing team called W.O.W (World of Weimar). Our task was to be in charge of the design and the whole activities in the basement called NACHTI2RAUM. The Camera was installed there with the complete W.O.W. crew helping us with the acting and performing. The performative installation was there for the entire festival during the day where more than 300 Vynils with the personal aura photo were sold.
