Came back from visiting family in Nigeria

Ileodictyon cibarium, commonly know as the basket fungus or white basket fungus, is a saprophyte endemic to New Zealand. The basket is around 15cm across and a member of the stinkhorn family Phallaceae. The fruiting body is a puffball-like “egg“ with a two-layered wall - the outer one lined with jelly - enclosing a mass of brown spores and the tightly-folded “basket”. The basket soaks up moisture and bursts out of the “egg” with such force that it sometimes breaks free and rolls across the ground. The spores are contained on the inside of the basket in a foul-smelling jelly attractive to flies, who disperse the sticky spores that become attached to their legs. The baskets seldom last for more than one day, which is probably why their Māori name is tūtae kēhua: ghost droppings. Their other name is tūtae whatitiri (whatitiri meaning thunder) possibly alluding to the fungus appearing after storms, which it certainly has done at my place!

Thank you @nuka-rockit I was actually going to ask if anyone spoke German and if that translation, which came from Wikipedia, was any sort of accurate. Fascinating. Titles are so important.
