Something I so admire about Don Hertzfeldtβs work is how compact it is. World of Tomorrow is 16 minutes. Itβs Such a Beautiful Day is only an hour. Hertzfeldt manages to tell these incredibly complex and emotional stories in such a short amount of time β he doesnβt waste any space. Every image is very intentional (even the ones that have a lot of negative space, that negative space is still serving a purpose) and every word is the simplest and most perfect way to articulate the emotion he wants to convey. If poetry is βthe best words in the best order,β than I think what Don Hertzfeldt has achieved is the equivalent of poetry in film
