On September 29th, hundreds of armed agents raided an entire apartment complex in Illinois, United States with riot trucks, helicopters, and smoke grenades. They restrained people with zip-ties, separated children from caregivers, and dragged some into rented vans and left others outside for hours. People who show up to legally mandated court appearances or check ins with ICE are being routinely arrested, detained, and deported. This tactic was reported yesterday by MSNBC as happening in New York, and by The San Francisco Chronicle as happening in California.

Conditions in detainment facilities are brutal. El País reported on cases of pregnant people detained by ICE who are inadequately fed, offered no interpretation or translation during medical consultations, subject to medical procedures without consent, and neglected following miscarriages.

On September 18, El País reported that hundreds of people detained in Florida have been disappeared. Miami Herald reports that 800 people are no longer in ICE's database, and their lawyers and families are unable to locate them. 450 more were still in the database, but with no location listed.

Many are assumed to be buried under rubble, but an unknown number have had their bodies taken for use by Israel. Back in 2021, Israeli Parliament ruled that the army and police could hold onto bodies of dead Palestinians. Two years ago the Geneva-based rights group Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported on the Israeli military confiscating bodies from the Al-Shifa Medical Complex and the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza Strip.

On October 19th, The New Indian Express reported on the condition of the 150 Palestinians whose bodies were released by Israel. Dr. Munir al-Bursh, director-general of the Gaza Health Ministry said: "The bodies we received were bound like animals, blindfolded, and bore horrific signs of torture and burns that reveal the extent of the crimes committed in secret. They did not die naturally; they were executed after being restrained. These people were not buried underground, they were kept in the occupation’s refrigerators for long months."

Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor released a statement on their field workers' observations which confirmed the statement by the Gaza Health Ministry: "The available evidence reveals a horrifying pattern of field executions and systematic torture of Palestinian detainees and prisoners, suggesting a deliberate policy aimed at inflicting the maximum possible physical and psychological suffering on those held, up to and including their killing."

Fadel's campaign was verified and shared by @90-ghost and @a-shade-of-blue, and was vetted by @gazavetters (#197 on the gazavetters spreadsheet).

However, his campaigns have been subject to multiple deletions. The first time in April 25, 2025 GoFundMe deleted his fundraiser with no warning or clear explanation. The second time on October 7th, 2025, GoFundMe deleted his fundraiser again.

His campaign host is his uncle who is living in Spain with a residence permit in Belgium. His uncle set up a new fundraiser through Chuffed, hoping they would not be subject to these random deletions. However, Chuffed recently requested evidence of his uncle's residence in Spain, and would not accept his residence permit in Belgium as proof of identity. He was told that donations through the Chuffed campaign will not reach his bank account after October 28th.

Fadel and his uncle discussed this with many people and everyone advised him to create another GoFundMe campaign because it accepts Belgian residence for the state of Spain. His uncle contacted his bank and technical support and told them that he wanted to create a campaign for Fadel, but he was afraid that it would be deleted like before. They attached steps for him to create a safe and secure campaign so that it is not exposed to deletion.

So, Fadel has now started another GoFundMe campaign. Both Fadel and I have gotten messages from people on tumblr confirming that donations from his previous GoFundMe campaign are being returned to the donors. I promise you it is very safe to donate to him. None of this is his fault and he is trying his best to maintain stability under incredibly unstable conditions.

I have been out of work for some time now, but I just donated 10 USD (equivalent of 8 Euros) to Fadel's new GoFundMe.

he also said that it was incredibly unlikely that sexism will ever be resolved in the medical field. that the majority of medications i will ever take - even some of which are "for women" - will not be clinically tested on my body.

the problem, he said, was in getting any human clinical trial approved. to test on a body with a uterus - any body, even elderly patients or those who have been sterilized - was often nigh-impossible, because the concern was that the test patient may, at any point, become pregnant. once/if the patient became pregnant, the study would not be about "the effects of New Medication on the body." instead, the trial would fail - the results would be "the effects of New Medication on a developing fetus/pregnant patient."

it was massively easier, he said, to just test without accounting for a uterus. that's how he phrased it - accounting for a uterus.

at the time, i remember him talking about the ethical implications of testing on a developing fetus; how such testing could theoretically bankrupt a company if a lawsuit was filed. he talked about informed consent and about how long it took for any legislation to be passed about this - that in 1993; the year i was born, it finally became illegal to outright exclude women and minorities from clinical trials.

i remember him shrugging. "that's not to say it doesn't happen," he said. my ears were ringing.

i was thinking about how every time i have been rushed to the ER, the first thing they have asked me is if i am pregnant. when i broke my wrist at 16 years old - despite never having had sex - they made me wait three hours for the test to come back negative before they gave me pain meds. the possibility of a child haunts my health.

how many people have died on the table because they were waiting for the pregnancy test before treatment. how many people have died on the table because they were pregnant, and the only thing we care about is the fetus.

it is hard to explain to other people, but it feels like some kind of strange ghost. our entire lives, we are supposed to "save" our bodies for our future partners. but really we are just saving the body for the future child, aren't we? that hovering future-almost that cartwheels around in a miasma. you can't get your tubes tied, what if you change your mind? think of the child you must have, eventually.

And that's because adults love punishing children but hate holding themselves and other adults accountable.

When I hear the phrase "bullying someone for being autistic", this is what comes to mind:

Spanking your child for their tone, facial expression, or body language.

Adding hidden meanings to what someone says then reprimanding them for those hidden meanings you added.

Taking it as an argument when someone asks for a reason.

Assuming that someone is guilty of something because they can't maintain a straight face when denying it.

Labeling someone as "smart" because of one special talent and expecting them to be smart at everything else also.

Using "you did it before" as a reason to expect something, ignoring any possibility of the situation being different this time.

Expecting socializing to be as easy as "just talk to people".

Judging someone for doing something wrong without telling them specifically what they did wrong and what they should have done instead.

Requiring someone to pass an interview in order to get a job.

Judging someone for living with their parents as an adult.

Believing that someone is suspicious or on drugs because they're acting different.

Believing that using drugs is a moral failure deserving of punishment.

Abusive therapies that cause pain in order to force someone into hiding their differences.

Police literally murdering people for misinterpreting unclear orders (Philando Castile) or for something mistaken as a threat (Sonya Massey).
