We arrive on Coruscant and Qyzen is not happy. I get it, I probably wouldn't like it there either. I mean, I would love to take a trip there, but I wouldn't want to live in a place that has no real nature at all. I bet Coruscant has some huge botanical gardens and parks in the fancier districts, where the wealthy citizens can go to look at the plants and feel one with nature. It's probably a status symbol to have a big "garden" or greenhouse in your apartment if you're rich and the high society of Coruscant pays gardeners a small fortune to decorate their houses with lots of exotic plants and lavish flower arrangements.
Also, Qyzen's comment about seeing Yuon first is really sweet.
Speaking of Yuon, she seems to be getting worse, so now we have to hurry and find the Noetikons all over Coruscant.
That's very funny. Imagine seeking wisdom from an ancient artifact but it's so annoying that you have to turn it off.
Something's wrong here (That last image made me laugh)
After finding the last Noetikon (and speaking to Bastila Shan!) we go to learn the ancient shielding ritual. Since the Temple hasn't been sacked yet, while Narressia is here, I decided that the shrine for the Noetikons is either hidden in some secret place away from the Jedi Temple or that Narressia briefly has to travel offworld to a different temple to learn the ritual. I think I prefer the first option. I mean, the Jedi Temple is probably kind of empty at the moment because of the ongoing war (the Jedi are buisy) but since we are attacked by a Sith after learning the ritual, it can't take place in the temple because that wouldn't make sense for my timeline.
We have learned the ritual and are ready to help Yuon.
I didn't know that the Consular and Knight have the same ship, but now that I do, I definitely think that Narressia gave her ship to Nary in the Knight's story. Any changes in how the ship looks are just renovations, I mean, it's been twenty years.

Long time coming, I have finally wrapped up all of the class story for Rylan, my smuggler and main toon in SWTOR! I feel like it could've been executed better in some places but I loved the premise and the ending. Rylan feels like that Republic has finally vindicated him and gave him the proper honors for his service that should've been done many years ago. He was surprised that the Supreme Chancellor and other leading figures presented him the highest civilian honor in the Republic, even though Master Sumalee assured him he would be recognized for his victory against the Voidwolf.
This moment meant something bigger for Rylan. The days of an estranged war veteran, forced to make ends meet braving the underworld was now past and he was now recognized as a professional privateer and invaluable operative by the Republic. If it weren't for Master Sumalee, he thought, it wouldn't have been possible. She not only cleared his name but vouched for him to remain on as a Republic privateer, ending up his sponsor.
Working for the Jedi? It was mesmerizing for Rylan and his crew, no could make that up, but he felt indebted to Master Sumalee for what she did for him. And to have the chance to fight alongside the Jedi? It was a high honor, for he always had a reverence for them since was a boy. Sure there were things in the Order he disagreed with, but the Jedi Rylan got to meet and cooperate with he felt steadfastly did their part in serving the will of the Force and their role as guardians of peace and justice.
With his service record restored, false charges cleared and life reestablished, the future would see Rylan on the front lines of the war, but he had his new allies and friends on his side. Both in high and low places! His crew, Master Sumalee as well as Alilia and her group of scoundrels were those he could turn to with uncertain times approaching.
This took me a while! Rylan was a hard toon to develop. He is a hero but being one is hard. Good deeds often do not go unpunished, and Rylan had to fight through political corruption, bureaucracy and the treachery of the underworld to rebuild his life. His pragmatism guided by his morals, military training and experiences as a smuggler were key to that. The three-year long ordeal that started with a swindler making break with his ship and price on his head for weapons he didn't steal was finally over, and Rylan in the end got wealth but more so new friends, his honor back he deserved, and the true freedom he longed back for many years.
The class story ends with Rylan being commended for defeating the Voidwolf and securing the pirate fleet's cooperation with the Republic forces, then him and his crew discussing what will happen next before they leave Corellia for further adventures. I love how it nicely wraps up the story and ends with a small ensemble of characters getting back to their lives after celebrating their accomplishments.
Felix is a cinnamon roll sure, but hes also a badass. One of his own men pulls a gun on him and he doesnt so much as flinch, disarms him in one fluid motion and then makes light of it, giving his transgressor only a few chores instead of a discharge or court martial.Ā
If this private had say, Aric Jorgan as a commander, it would have gone a lot worse for him but Felix knows his men and empathizes with them.Ā

So, I've been replaying KOTFE again and honestly? I've come to respect Koth Vortena a lot more as a character. It's a great setup for him in the process of deprogramming after being raised in a fascist society for all his life.
When I was a preteen, I used to be pissed that Koth would betray the Outlander and take the Gravestone. So what if I blew up your home? Get over it! But honestly, I respect him a lot more for that. Now I really like the fact that he calls you out on your BS if you're a dark side Outlander, and I find it strange that he's the only companion that does this. I mean, c'mon Lana, why are you serving an absolute megalomaniac? Aren't you supposed to be, like, the pragmatic Sith Lord?
Honestly, my only real problem with Koth is that he doesn't really get enough scenes to show development. He goes from hero-worshipping the King Bastard of the Universe Valkorion to...not bringing it up at all but presumably not hero-worshipping anymore? He only gets a few scenes of hindsight or disillusionment and then he's just forgotten about.
And this isn't even his character's fault. This is the fault of the writers absolutely blitzing through KOTET and not letting any characters or plot points develop. Honestly, this replay makes me more than ever want to rewrite the KOTXX expansions, cuz I've had a few ideas floating around (promise I'll do Koth justice).
But yeah, in general, I have warmed up to Koth Vortena a lot more in retrospective.
And Bioware, plz stop doing your black characters dirty.
ALSO it's super sus how many folks hate on him so intensely yet don't show nearly as much hate toward non-poc characters who are objectively and loudly awful and harmful. And honestly? The excuses folks use are super weak when you really think about it.
Throughout the years I've seen time and time again, Black characters who have opinions, are complex, who aren't complete unconditional ass-kissers to the (usually white) protag(s), often get a notable amount of hate in fandom.
And (side tangent) this trend goes beyond fictional characters. The amount of hate Black people get in fandom is baffling. There's a reason the term 'blerd' is a thing and spaces like Blerdcon exist: many of us felt the need for spaces we can be nerds and enjoy fandom and feel safe from the racism that festers in mainstream fandom spaces.
While ofc anyone can have varying reasons they dislike any character, and Koth really should have been treated better by the writers, I'm confident the Koth hate case largely involves folks projecting their racial biases and using weak ass excuses to justify it, even if they won't admit it.
I've seen and experienced really gross racism in the Star Wars fandom. Folks don't like to acknowledge it, but it's there and it sucks.
One little batch of bothans! There is a second lot incoming, though I'm not sure if I'll get them done before art fight grabs me by the throat eehehehe
I started with hairstyles to get the vibe of each one, then finished them off by considering planets they might be from (or at least living on). Dantooine, Coruscant, Makeb, Tatooine, Nar Shaddaa and Korriban!
I think it's hilarious than everyone draws Theron Shan slightly off. Like, the precise vibe that his in-game sprite gives off, I don't think I've seen really accurately depicted anywhere. I've seen people come close and most give him a vibe that better fits him with their art, but. Even the official art doesn't exactly look like him
Be so fr without the cybernetics we wouldn't know. This other guy is John Shan his better looking cousin or smth
What is it about that man that is so HARD to draw?!
Okay, you're right, it does look a hell of a lot better and going through the reblogs made me realise, it's true that the official art is especially bad. This is way better to look at already and you recognise more of his features in the art (didn't notice how hwhite he was in this picture until your reblog dayum this official art was BAD bad)
I do however maintain that he. Is hard to draw. And that I still have yet to find a piece of art that captures the exact vibe of his 3D asset. Which isn't a bad thing because sometimes it looks better than the actual thing but. I bet there's something scientific at work about the structure of his face or smth
So in star wars canon sith have red lightsabers because they bleed the kyber crystals or whatever, and while thats all super cool and edgy and shit, I have my own headcanon thats far simpler and makes way more sense to me.
Simply put, pure kyber crystals are red, so when they grow the crystal in a lab it comes out red. Natural kyber however is filled with impurities that change its color to blue or green or whatnot.
I feel like this makes more sense because of a few reasons. First of all I feel like the sith would much prefer to grow their own kyber crystal rather than go out to a jedi controlled planet and steal one, if only for self sufficiency purposes, but also because lab grown crystals are absolutely perfect and pure in ways that naturally grown ones can never match and the sith would be all over that.
Meanwhile the jedi would value where the crystal came from and the journey to get the crystal more than the perfection of the crystal itself because of spiritual reasons, so they get the fancy colors.
Hell it would even explain why the jedi almost only get green and blue lightsabers, its because the kyber mines they use are filled with lots of whatever mineral makes kyber change to those colors.
Yeah the edgy "bleeding" thing has always irked me when I first learned of that canon change. Growing your own crystal always felt more Sith-y because it would give them complete control over the entire process and development of their crystal. Imposing order on the chaos of the galaxy kind of thing.

Thousands of years before the first Zabrak colonists crash landed on Dathomir, when the Nightbrothers and their kin had yet to exist, Force-sensitive Zabrak with bright red or orange skin could be found throughout the galaxy. These Zabrak owed their similar traits to their relationship with the Tsis, or ancestral Sith species, and their destinies were linked with the Sith Empire's long and bloody history.
I. Origins
During the early days of the Sith Empire, as it expanded within the isolated Stygian Caldera region, the Sith attempted to conquer and enslave worlds that had previously been settled by Iridonian Zabrak explorers, but they didnāt expect the local resistance - which was largely Force-blind - to put up as much of a fight as it did. In this clash between two warrior cultures, the Zabraksā tenacity eventually earned the grudging respect of the larger Imperial army.
The Sith lords eventually decided that they were wasting resources on the war, and would be better off taking the locals as their servants and their lands as fiefdom than bombarding them into oblivion. Thus the first treaties were drawn up, with their terms leaning greatly in the Empire's favor. Most Zabrak clans, unwilling to admit defeat but exhausted by the war, agreed to join the Empire after several revisions to their terms. Those who refused were enslaved or executed, their lands confiscated and divided among the Sith and their new vassals.
Many Zabrak followed their new lords to the Sith homeworlds, including Korriban, Ziost, and the Dromund system. During the ages of the Great Hyperspace War and the Empire's fall and reconstitution, its Zabrak diaspora continued to grow. By the time of the Cold War, they had thoroughly intermingled with the last remaining Tsis and their Human-hybrid Red Sith successors, becoming their own hybrid people, the Red Zabrak.
II. Biology
While they share many traits with their Iridonian cousins, the Red Zabrak population has inherited notable Tsis features that are expressed to varying degrees in each individual.
Iridonian-inherited traits:
near-human height and generally fit build
vestigial horns that appear in the first few years of life, and grow in symmetrical patterns on the crown of the head
less hair than most mammalian species; no eyebrows or facial hair, often naturally bald
two hearts and resilient cardiovascular and nervous systems, resulting in greater stamina and a slightly higher pain threshold than many other near-human species
pronounced canine teeth and a metabolism optimized for a carnivorous diet
darkened camouflage striping or inkblot patterns that fade during adolescence, upon which tattoos are traditionally based
Tsis-inherited traits:
skin colors varying from burgundy through red, orange, and peach, similar to Red Sith in complexion and always more ruddy than Iridonian Zabrak
ābleedingā effect of a bright red ring around the iris, a partial expression of the Tsis speciesā characteristic glowing eyes
heightened midichlorian levels and increased chance of Force sensitivity
Occasionally, Red Zabrak will display subtle, angular ridges across their skin. Though generally less noticeable than in Red Sith, these ridges have influenced their iconic face and body tattoos, which are a fusion of traditional Iridonian and Sith ritual tattoos that incorporate various symbols to convey clan affiliation and personal stories, and are often designed to outline and enhance any observable Tsis traits.
Bone spurs and cartilaginous tendrils, however, are recessive traits that were lost in most of the Red Zabrak population after first-generation hybrids. These traits, like the aforementioned ridges, appear with more frequency in Human-hybrid Red Sith due to both the selectiveness of the Sith elite, and the quirks of Tsis genetics.
III. Society
While Red Zabrak citizens are nominally equal with all free beings in the Empire, in practice they are second-class citizens compared to Red Sith and Humans, though with societal privilege above other nonhuman species, including Iridonian Zabrak. Scholarly opinion on the merit of their Sith blood weighed against their nonhuman heritage is mixed. Their treatment is comparable to that of the Chiss, but as ancient dependencies of the Empire rather than newfound foreign allies. Meanwhile, in Republic space, they are often viewed with distrust, if not outright detested by Iridonians as traitors to their species. Due to vows of fealty that were sworn when their clans first joined the Empire, many are bound to the ancient Red Sith aristocracy as vassals, with all that entails.
Family ties are vital in both Zabrak and Sith cultures, and the two have become inextricably entangled over their centuries together. The Zabrak openly regard their accomplishments in the Sith Empire as a point of pride and their allegiance as a concession that made both peoples stronger; according to their officially sanctioned history, the Sith definitively proved their superiority in the arena of war, and have remained worthy of following in their exploits to the present day.
Despite the Empire's tendencies towards forced assimilation, the clans have held onto some of their autonomy as agreed upon in their treaties - particularly to organize for cultural events, such as the yearly coming-of-age ceremony in which teenagers traditionally receive their first tattoos, after several days of combat sports, storytelling, and feasting. Large clan gatherings are required to be open to the public, and are routinely monitored by Imperial security forces, but are among the freest cultural expressions in the Empire outside Mandalorians.
Most young Red Zabrak end up in careers that will further the agendas of their affiliated Sith Houses - often the same ones their ancestors swore fealty to when the first treaties divided them among the Sith. Choosing a marriage or career that oneās clan or House disapproves of, or siding with a rival, is to become a social outcast at best. Since the Sith hold the strings of the Empire, they can and will obstruct and manipulate the paths of their servants, and sweep impromptu executions under the rug, in the name of preserving their power bases. Systemic xenophobia in the Empire at large makes social mobility for Red Zabrak even more challenging without Sith aid.
Stereotyped as violent, stubborn, and simple-minded but ultimately honorable aliens, Red Zabrak often end up in military positions within the Empire, and frequently serve as enforcers and assassins to their affiliated Sith houses. Despite the setbacks they face, this tenacious people can be found throughout the Empire in higher positions and greater numbers than any other non-Human or Sith species.
Today I wrapped up my SWTOR smuggler Rylan's adventures on Voss! I loved the class story and world story questlines. There were a lot of parts of the storylines that didn't make sense going together. Like Rylan getting in trouble for going into the Nightmare Lands when he had a legitimate reason to be there as part of a Mystic's vision where he would end the threat of the Gormak to the Voss. But all the more material for my headcanon of his adventures on the planet!
Voss at the time of renewed war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, stood in the middle. It was a neutral planet dealing with its own problems. Vulnerable to outside interlopers, it's neutrality in the middle of the conflict presented opportunities for Sith spies and organized crime to exploit that for their own ends.
The Republic sought Voss as an ally in the war effort, a goal challenging in itself. The local people was very independent and did not interfere in the affairs of outsiders unless they were directly threated or became an issue for their community. The Voss also had their security forces stretched thin trying to hold back a group of technologically adept barbarians called the Gormak, whose attacks have escalated as of late.
Rylan was already flying toward Voss on a mission to dismantle a vile animal and bioweapons trafficking ring belonging to the unyielding crime lord, Rogun the Butcher. The Republic's foreign ministry sought an opportunity to recruit the Mirialan to help advance the Republic's diplomatic goals on Voss, the Voss leadership would consider alignment with the space-faring state power in return for aid in resolving their local troubles.
Coming from Mirial, a planet where the Force played a central part in spiritual life, Rylan was personally vested in working with the Voss and the Republic's diplomatic mission. His original goal of breaking up Rogun's operations became just one of many adventures he would go on during his time on the mysterious world.
Rylan attempted to penetrate the traffickers through a fake purchase deal arranged by a friendly contact in the syndicate that helps sell their abominations to customers. It would be a few days before the deal was to go down, putting other matters in priority.
There were reports of disappearances in the area around the main temple for the training of the Mystics, the main rulers of Voss whose clairvoyance guided their leadership and governance of their people. Rylan learned a Sith Lord was alleged to be behind the vanishments, who were Voss individuals known to have failed the Mystic trials.
Helping to uncover the Sith intelligence plot to corrupt and train the failed Voss as Dark Side warriors, he responded to an emergency distress call from the ruins of an old Jedi settlement under archaeological study. After the Imperial attackers were driven off, the Sith Lord claimed responsibility and revealed his location in a bunker down south. The failed Voss were freed and eventually taken in by the reluctant Jedi, seeking to protect them from further attempts to turn them into Sith.
Rylan undertook the trials himself in preparation for fulfilling a prophecy where he would be instrumental in the Voss achieving victory over the Gormak. The Mystics spoke of a civil war and the need to get the bottom of what was provoking and make difficult decisions to end the fighting, even though it would be costly. The visions of the Mystics were always right, the Mirialan learned, and he wanted to do right by the Voss.
The deal with the animal traffickers went down the day after his trials. Rylan managed to find out their names, but he was forced to escape with Akaavi's help after they attempted to spring a trap and get him in trouble with the Voss. They exposed and forced to go into hiding, Rylan found himself having to literally pose as carbonite cargo to get inside their hideout.
When unfrozen, he was surprised to be greeted by one of the traffickers he confronted earlier, Gormak Zak. A man who lived among the Gormak, Zak turned against the traffickers after finding out they had wronged his tribe by setting foot into the forbidden Nightmare Lands with some of his people.
Following an operation to capture Jokull, the King of the Gormak, Rylan found out in another of the traffickers' hideouts that their operations expanded deep into the Nightmare Lands. Not only that, the Sith were also interested in the beasts, which Rylan thought they looked to train and use against the Republic and Jedi. Such revelations angered him. Rogun not only had crossed the Voss deeply by turning the wildlife into bioweapons, but also for them to end up in the hands of the Sith, such horrors would not go unanswered for.
King Jokull had also been corrupted by the curse of the Nightmare Lands, gaining powers of clairvoyance like those of the Voss Mystics. To find out the source of the madness in those dark woods and stop the exploitation of such corruption by Rogun, Rylan would have to confront things the seasoned smuggler's never seen before.
He undertook a Voss ritual to shield himself from the dark forces that turned less fortunate souls to savagery, and found out a truth he couldn't imagine, even with keeping an open mind.
An expedition deep into the Nightmare Lands revealed that a mysterious being named Sel-Makor was behind the curse that turned most who stepped into it agents of suffering and pain, turned the beauty of the woods into a haunted grove of gnarled wooden spire branches, and made monsters out of the animals who called it home. The lands were his domain, and all the cursed people and monsters were controlled by him and acted on his will.
The being that Sel-Makor used as a host revealed the ghost of a long-deceased figure whose story only made it more complex, the Voss and Gormak were not seperate peoples. Back in the day, they used to be one and united blessed with Mystic powers until fighting over how they should be used broke them apart. Rylan was taken aback by this, but it was the truth, even if the Voss may see it as outright heresy.
He caught up with traffickers in their lab demonstrating the beasts to the Sith. They along with their abominations were both dead after a tough fight. Making the long trek back to the outpost on the border of the Nightmare Lands, the echoes of screams and anguish still kept Rylan on edge until he was out of that cursed place.
In the end, he would reveal the truth of the Voss and Gormak's origins to the Voss' ruling council of Mystics known as The Three. They of course were in denial. Yet they realized that the threat of the Gormak was over if it meant understanding they were also Voss just as much. King Jokull had always been a Mystic, the curse of the Nightmare Lands awakened those powers. The Three chose to maintain their independence but would expand diplomatic ties with the Republic. They'd lean more to the their side and become more protected against incursions by the Empire into their homeworld.
King Jokull as the war chief of the Gormak would stand trial before a tribunal of Voss adjudicators as the main one responsible for sowing death and destruction on Voss through civil war and scheming to expand the influence of the evil plaguing the Nightmare Lands. Rylan provided testimony on the actions of the Sith and the gangs to exploit the people and the local wildlife as tools of war in outside conflicts.
Adjudicator Mirev-Ka: "For levying war among our people, conspiring to condemn our homeworld to the evil of the Nightmare Lands and attempting to corrupt our people and wildlife to seek others' blood, you owe a great debt. You will serve the Voss and as King of the Gormak, you will help end this war."
It was found by the tribunal that Jokull as the ruler leading the Gormaks was accountable for these crimes, they all had occurred under his watch. His sentence would be aiding the Voss in their process of settling the conflict with the Gormak through a winding diplomatic gauntlet to end their perpetual war.
Rylan helped the Voss in service of the Republic because of his experiences growing up as a Mirialan. He believed they should remain an independent people free of the influence of the dark side. Closer ties to the Republic would allow the Voss to be better protected against the Sith conquerors. They also had the prospect of open a potential source of study for the Jedi to expand their knowledge of the Force. The Voss way was one of many different ways of understanding the energy field that brought all life in the galaxy together.
As for Gormak Zak, he had to lay low or also face the tribunal. However, the news of the truth about the Voss and Gormak being once one people divided by struggles for power was a complete shock. He at first denied it. He'd realize eventually that it was really the case. The Gormak he considered family could tie their heritage back to the ancient Voss, like the modern Voss they had fought so long and hard against.
Maybe he'd embrace the truth that there was hope his family could live a better life out of forever trapped in fear and pain. Hopes brought by the acts of Rylan Hesper, who would move on to confront Rogun after his own long war with the crime lord. In the end for the Voss and Gormak, it was the truth that brought them the hopes that finally there would be peace for the planet they called home...
