Ok but when you say "restorative justice" do you mean "hegemonic power structures need to provide ways for people who've done bad things to reintegrate into society" or do you mean "you, personally, someone with no hegemonic power whatsoever, need to keep forgiving people who've hurt you forever" because those are like. Pretty different.
One of the best letters I’ve ever seen just popped up on my Facebook memories. Still makes me laugh.
As today is the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, it’s a great time to revisit Dinah from Devon’s memory of this historic event. And yes, still makes me laugh.
Today is the 54th anniversary of the moon landing, but Dinah’s diary entry is still absolutely magnificent.
57th anniversary of the moon landing and the best diary entry in the history of diary entries. Sit down Samuel Pepys, it’s over. UGH.
Sophie Djeme-Mi Koumazock’s doctor prescribed her a new drug to slow the progression of incurable breast cancer. But as a federal employee,
When 43-year-old Sophie Djeme-Mi Koumazock was told her incurable metastatic breast cancer was no longer responding to her medication, she was reassured knowing she had another option.
Her doctor said her profile made her a candidate for the drug Truqab. While it wouldn’t cure her, it would give the Quebec City mother of four young kids more time with her family.
But her hope didn’t last long.
Costing up to $12,000 a month — double her previous medication that had been covered by her insurer Canada Life — Djeme-Mi Koumazock was shocked to learn she wouldn’t be reimbursed for the new treatment.
“It’s destroyed me. I didn’t know what to do,” she said.
While Quebec's health insurance board covers Truqap under exceptional circumstances, federal public servant Djeme-Mi Koumazock is enrolled in the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP). Administered by Canada Life, the federal plan does not cover the drug.
Djeme-Mi Koumazock contacted her employer and union. While her union is helping her with her case, she's been told the decision is policy. She's now forced to pay out of pocket until she finds a solution.

This is why universal healthcare has to include pharmacare.
We'll figure out what's wrong with you for free, but if your insurance doesn't cover the medication you need then fuck you?
People here love to talk about how people in the States die or are crushed by medical debt due to the cost of healthcare. But the same can and does happen here due to the cost of medications.
Just because it's less common here doesn't make it any less wrong. Pharmacare is healthcare.
happy disability pride month to those who rely on support from people who don't want to deal with them. to those who have to beg their loved ones for support. to those who have had others get tired of them and suddenly drop all support. to those who are barely hanging on because they need support from others and no one is willing to help them.
i hope we all get the help we need. i hope we'll all be okay. i love you.

Well that’s not so crazy I mean how much could–
OH
“A kiss may be grand, but it won’t pay the rental, on your humble flat, or help you at the automat.”
Like literally the most famous song about how much girls love jewellry is just explaining the importance of getting jewellry for when your partner leaves you penniless and alone.
The founder of Girl Scouting in the US, Juliette Gordon Low, funded her first troop by selling her pearl necklace, which was her only belonging after her husband died and left everything to his mistress.
She founded Girl Scouts to teach girls self-sufficiency so they wouldn’t have to go through what she went through when her husband died and she didn’t know how to take care of herself.
While we’re on the subject, let’s please also remember that historically disenfranchised communities who had to worry about frequently being run out of town often bought expensive jewelry with their limited funds not because they were greedy or tacky or classless, but rather because you can’t sew a real estate investment into the lining of your coat, and the powers that be can’t freeze a diamond necklace the way that they can freeze a bank account.

thinking about how when you experience a lot of shame in your formative years (indirectly, directly, as abuse or just as an extant part of your environment) it becomes really difficult to be perceived by other people in general. the mere concept of someone watching me do anything, whether it's a totally normal activity or something unfamiliar of embarrassing, whether I'm working in an excel spreadsheet or being horny on main, it just makes my skin crawl and my brain turn to static because I cannot convince myself that it's okay to be seen and experienced. because to exist is to be ashamed and embarrassed of myself, whether I'm failing at something or not, because my instinctive reaction to anyone commenting on ANYTHING I'm doing is to crawl into a hole and die. it's such a bizarre and dehumanizing feeling to just not be able to exist without constantly thinking about how you are being Perceived. ceaseless watcher give me a god damn break.
sorry to put your tags on blast on this insane breach containment post I have since muted, but you're right and you should say it.

I still reference this post today. And yes, when I say I reference it I mean I sing it.
the poster that this incredible illustration is based on is extremely striking. but while searching for it, I also found earlier posters for conveying this message along with a corresponding one for summer, and I fucking love them. absolutely lovely graphic design work. (both are from 1924, artist is Austin Cooper)
the one I was looking for originally also has a summer variant. (artist is Frederick Charles Herrick: 'it is warmer below' is from 1927, 'it is cooler below' is 1926)
I also like Edward McKnight Kauffer’s London Underground posters, the 1923 Natural History Museum one is such cool piece of visual art

People on Tumblr love sharing information about themselves no matter how asinine it is. And I'm the same way. Everybody tell me what the last thing you drank was.
I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy the meme I made about my new shoe
