It's like. No I don't have a bad relationship with my father. Yes I love my father. No I do not know my father. Yes I have fond memories of my father. No I cannot remember ever knowing my father. Yes I know my father loves me. No my father has never said he loves me. Yes I am just like my father. No I am nothing like my father. Yes my father has taught me many things. No I have learned nothing from my father. Yes this man is my father. No I do not know this man.

man Mob Psycho 100 really looked at "extraordinary/superhero teen" narratives and said "it's fucked up we expect a child to solve these fucking problems, what the fuck, they should be focusing on growing and developing their interests and making friends, not dealing with this bullshit" and it literally, textually, had the most prominent parental/nurturing figure tell Mob he would take care of the problem, even though he had no superpowers, and it literally, textually acknowledged that Mob HAD THE RIGHT to run away and wash his hands off the problem because it wasn't NONE OF HIS RESPONSABILITY to fix adult bullshit, and not only that, but it also gave Mob many many narrative foils, children who had been caught up on feeling the obligation to be "extraordinary superhero teens," because how else could they be special?, and said these children need to realize it's okay to fail, and they need healing, and then GAVE IT TO THEM. and it's Mob's own shortcomings and his impulse to better himself what inspires others to grow. like talk about a breath of fresh air. I love that story so much.
