Biana knocks on the door to Sophie’s dorm room. She taps her foot impatiently on the floor as she waits for Sophie to answer.

Three minutes later and Sophie still hasn’t answered. Biana sighs, shifting her weight as she glances around the empty hall. Most students have gone out tonight, for a party someone else was hosting—Shayda Adel, is it? Biana isn’t sure, but she does know it would be the party of a school year and both she and Sophie were missing it. Which Biana refused to let happen.

Two more minutes pass. Biana knocks a couple more times, fidgeting in place and hoping Sophie would answer the door on her own. She doesn’t, and the door stays locked shut. The time passes agonizingly slow, seconds feeling like minutes and minutes feeling like hours.

“Sophie?” Biana calls out a final time, knocking sharply on the door.

Then Sophie responds, her voice muffled as if she’s speaking through a pillow. “Leave me alone.”

“Fine,” Biana mutters, her patience worn thin. She pulls a bobby pin out of her pocket, having put it there just a while ago for this occasion. She’s fully prepared to break into Sophie’s dorm and drag the sulking blonde out by force if needed, and it seems as if that was what she had to do.
