Few people truly understand what Palm Sunday really means…
Few people understand that Palm Sunday is not just a celebration of flowers, names, and outward joy, but at its core, it is a deep call to awaken the soul, to encounter God, and to understand a love that does not change even in the face of betrayal.
This is the day when Jesus Christ enters Jerusalem with humility - not as an earthly king, but as a Savior who comes to sacrifice Himself. And the people welcome Him with palm branches, crying “Hosanna!”, not knowing that soon those same voices will change…
And this is where the mystery of this day lies - in the human heart, which wavers between faith and weakness, between love and forgetfulness.
Palm Sunday is not only about what happened then…
but about what is happening within each of us today.
Do we truly receive Christ into our lives… or only in words?
Do we follow Him in silence… or only in moments of joy?
Do we truly love Him… or only when we feel good?
This feast places before us a mirror of the soul, in which we see how easily we can move from light to darkness, from faith to doubt, from “Hosanna” to silence.
And despite all our weaknesses, Christ does not stop.
He does not give up on humanity.
He enters Jerusalem knowing everything that is to come… yet He moves forward - out of love.
Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week,
but also the beginning of an inner struggle:
the struggle between the old and the new self, between sin and repentance, between fear and faith.
This is the day we are called to open our hearts - not only to hold willow branches in our hands, but to allow God’s grace to enter our souls.
Because the true celebration is not outside… but within us.
Palm Sunday is not just a memory… it is a calling.
And perhaps, if on this day we truly understand what Palm Sunday means…
we will not remain the same.
