Ok, lets break this down nice and simple.
Formaldehyde is from the purification of the vaccine. 99.9% of which is removed. The reason it doesn’t give a dosage is the ammount is so minuscule that it can’t be measured without going into picograms. That’s one trillionth of a gram. You breathe in more formaldehyde by driving down a busy road than in a vaccine.
Thimerosal is NOT elemental mercury, It is a molecular compound made up of carbon, hydrogen, mercury, sodium, oxygen, and sulfur. This is used as a preservative for the vaccine. Thimerosal is used in a variety of other things, like tattoo ink, facial creams, nasal sprays. It’s toxic to humans only in fairly large quantities but highly toxic to aquatic born organisms like infectious bacteria. In short, it makes sure you don’t get salmonella from a stray bacteria from the chicken embryos. As for the dosage of the Thimerosal. That is the most laughable point in this post. It says 25 mcg, that’s micrograms, or one millionth of a gram. To put this in perspective, a dollar bill weighs roughly 1 gram, the average human eyelash is around 80-90 micrograms. The box also says that it contains a 5ml (milliliter/cc) vial which leads me to my next point.
A little simple math and we find out that 25 mcg = 0.00003 ml and a little more math we find that 0.00003 ml is 0.00006% of 5 ml. Let me put this another way. By the age of 5, an American child weighs about 50-55lbs and their body contains 55 mcg of Uranium. I don’t see any kids running around with radiation sickness, so I think they’re safe with a preservative in them. TL;DR: This is like saying you don’t want your child eating their baked birthday cake because raw eggs were used to make it and you don’t want your child getting salmonella from it.

So my dad took away my laptop because I wouldn’t give him the password. I wasn’t even allowed to type it in, he demanded to know the password to my personal computer because he thinks I’m “ doing things I’m not supposed to do. ” My sister is not, and never has been, held to the same standard when it came to passwords on her own phone etc. But my parents always suspect me of being “up to something” and will randomly ask to use my computer/ know the password, and when I say no, they get mad at me. My dad threatens to take my door away from me for having it closed. I’m a seventeen year old female, and he has threatened to take away my door.
when i was a teenager, i wasn’t allowed to have a cellphone, so my father would hand me a little bag of change and force me to call home from a payphone every single time i left somewhere and again when i arrived at the next place. that means if i went to the mall, i called when i got there. then if i wanted to go across the street to the Walmart i had to call and tell him so. then i had to call again when i got to the Walmart! if i had a bunch of stuff to do, i could go through the entire bag of change in one weekend - if i could even find enough payphones to call him from. his explanation for this lunacy was that he wanted to be able to find me anytime, anywhere. he also liked to randomly show up at my job to make sure i was there, and the first time i spent the night at my best friend’s after i got a car, he drove past the house no less than eight times, and called no less than four times. one of those calls was to ask where i was because my car wasn’t visible from the road - and when i explained the turnaround i was parked in was behind the house, he told me we’d “better not go anywhere or have friends over”. like, what the hell were we going to do? have a drunken orgy while my friend’s grandma was sitting in the next room? we ended up playing chess in the front parlor all night with all the lights on and the curtains open so he could see us if he drove by.
and what, exactly, did i do to deserve this? not a fucking thing. i didn’t drink, didn’t smoke, didn’t sneak out, didn’t do drugs, didn’t skip school, nothing. in 13 years of public school, i had one detention - for being late too many times. that’s it. i never did a single thing to make him think i was untrustworthy and i got stalked for it.
when i graduated high school, my father told me if i was going to go to art college on his dime, he was going to have a say in the classes i took and what i did with my free time - he even went so far as to tell me if he ever dropped by the campus, i’d better be in my dorm doing homework or in class, and if i got a grade he didn’t like, he was going to pull me out of school, bring me home, and basically keep me a prisoner with no phone, no tv, no visits with friends until i graduated from the local community college. faced with another four years of stalking and abuse, i moved out and worked in a factory until i could be considered an independent student, then went to the art college i’d always wanted to - on my terms.
my father died last May and i hadn’t talked to him for a year, hadn’t seen him for two, and before that i hadn’t had any communication with him at all for four.
the moral of the story for you “my house, my rules, you don’t get any rights” parents is: stop treating your children like shit or you’re going to die alone, and you’ll deserve it.
My father didn’t do it to this extreme but he listened in on my calls, he constantly accused me of having sex or doing pot.

For me, I had sex way before I planned to (19. I was planning on waiting til marriage). Why? Because fuck it, he acted like I was trying to be a whore all the damn time, I was going to do whatever I damn well pleased.
I moved out at age 19. I have never moved back in. I barely talk to him. I talk almost exclusively to my mom.
When I moved out he said I’d be pregnant by the end of the year.
I’m 30. I have no kids. I don’t plan on having kids. Ever. Because I watched every other person in my family have kids when they couldn’t afford them and I’m not doing that to a child.
When I lived with my parents I had nearly all A’s, I had an 8pm curfew at the age of 19, I was never allowed to leave town, leave state, anything like that for school trips or what have you. When I was in college I wasn’t allowed to go to any colleges more than 30 minutes away. My parents didn’t trust others and they instilled that in me and it took me YEARS to fix it.
My therapist pinned down exactly what that does to it a kid too. It’s isolating. You’re isolating your kid. You’re telling them you don’t trust them. You’re telling them you inherently think they’re bad.
And that has huge ramifications on your bond with them.

Preventing a child from having privacy is a punishable offense in the United States (many countries actually) and you can be penalized for it.
What is that?
Rejecting or ignoring: telling a child he or she is unwanted or unloved, showing little interest in child, not initiating or returning affection, not listening to the child, not validating the child’s feelings, breaking promises, cutting child off in conversation
Shaming or humiliating: calling a child names, criticizing, belittling, demeaning, berating, mocking, using language or taking action that takes aim at child’s feelings of self-worth
Terrorizing: accusing, blaming, insulting, punishing with or threatening abandonment, harm or death, setting a child up for failure, manipulating, taking advantage of a child’s weakness or reliance on adults, slandering; screaming; yelling
Isolating: keeping child from peers and positive activities, confining child to small area, forbidding play or other stimulating experiences
Corrupting: engaging child in criminal acts, telling lies to justify actions or ideas, encouraging misbehavior
If you are an abusive parent, you probably have one of these (if not all) of these red flags:
Routinely ignores, criticizes, yells at or blames child
Plays favorites with one sibling over another
Poor anger management or emotional self-regulation
Stormy relationships with other adults, disrespect for authority
History of violence or abuse
Untreated mental illness, alcoholism or substance abuse
Children who suffer from your abuse, experience these emotional and behavioral issues:
Habits like sucking, biting, rocking
Learning disabilities and developmental delays
Overly compliant or defensive
Extreme emotions, aggression, withdrawal
Anxieties, phobias, sleep disorders
Destructive or anti-social behaviors (violence, cruelty, vandalism, stealing, cheating, lying)

In summary, there is no “my house, my rules”. If you actively promote this type of behavior as parents, you are committing a crime, and you can be fined and imprisoned for it, as well as having your kids taken away, which, if they are experiencing this behavior from you, shouldn’t be your kids to begin with.
Children are not your property, regardless of relation.
If you want to guarantee your children never consider you a part of their life or interact with you ever again, continuing these behaviors will absolutely do that.
As someone who has a support group of nearly 80 kids ranging from the ages of 14 to 27, I can tell you so many horror stories of parental abuse and the shit it fucks up the kids with as a result. My wife experienced and survived her own form of parental abuse, as have I.
We do not tolerate it, and neither should your kids.

what i learned from my first quarter of college
1. you gotta reach out if you want to get close to people. i started off feeling really down about how everyone seemed closer to each other than to me, but that changed when i started focusing on just a few people that i really wanted to be close to & inviting them to the library/dining commons/gym/coffee shops/etc.
2. do your reading, go to your lectures, study every day- you’ll see results if you’re focusing on school
3. you don’t have to party if you don’t want to! it won’t really affect your life that much, like don’t let fomo make u do things you don’t feel comfortable with
4. keep your part of the room clean and be considerate (seriously). like even if your roommates say its fine, don’t always have a boy/girl/guests in the room, don’t keep your desk hella cluttered, make your bed, be QUIET when others are sleeping or studying, take out the trash sometimes (i know from experience already, so seriously)
5. using a habit tracker is super helpful to keep you motivated and on track with your goals! i use habitica on iphone. just set 3-5 habits you wanna do every day (daylies) (mine are cleaning my belly button piercing twice, doing 30 min of exercise, studying 2 hours, and meditating 10 minutes)
6. have an income, whether its money from a savings account, allowance from parents, or a small part time job. it’ll make life a lot more comfortable.
7. not trying to improve yourself is selfish. im gonna be vague with this one, but take it how you want
8. social media addiction is real & not a good thing
9. eat really healthy- focus on eating to keep yourself from getting sick & to give yourself energy, not for avoiding the freshman 15 (which really shouldn’t matter as much as it does). eat fruits & veggies, fats, protein, all the vitamins, carbs. don’t try to live off of cereal and coffee bc you’ll get sicker and more tired throughout the day
10. try something new! join a pottery class or a hiking club, start going to the gym, literally anything new.
11. be picky about what you give your attention to. only set a few main goals and work to achieve those, rather than having a whole long list of goals and barely achieving any

Find your nearest food bank or mission, for food
grocery stores with free samples, bakeries + stores with day-old bread
different fast food outlets have cheaper food and will generally let you hang out for a while.
some dollar stores carry food like cans of beans or fruit
SHELTER
Sleeping at beaches during the day is a good way to avoid suspicion and harassment
sleep with your bag strapped to you, so someone can’t steal it
Some churches offer short term residence
Find your nearest homeless shelter
Look for places that are open to the public
A large dumpster near a wall can often be moved so that flipping up the lids creates an angled shelter to stay dry
HYGIENE
A membership to the YMCA is usually only 10$, which has a shower, and sometimes laundry machines and lockers.
Public libraries have bathrooms you can use
Dollar stores carry low-end soaps and deodorant etc.
Wet wipes are all purpose and a life saver
Local beaches, go for a quick swim
Some truck stops have showers you can pay for
Staying clean is the best way to prevent disease, and potentially get a job to get back on your feet

also a good list if anyone ever needs to run away from home for whatever reason.
Reblogging again because I’ve been living by a lot of these guidelines the last month. If you suddenly find yourself homeless, don’t give up. You have options.
Wet wipes especially are life savers - crotch rot isn’t pleasant.
Take care of your feet - if you can’t walk, you stand a very real chance of dying. That’s not an exaggeration, take care of your feet.
Keep them dry, and if you can manage it try to change your socks daily - I had three pairs I would wash - more or less - and hang to dry so that I always had a dry pair to replace the ones I had on if they got wet.
Even a cheap plastic water bottle is a water bottle, fill it from public fountains and stay hydrated. If you can carry two and have room, keep one in your bag.
Your bag is your life. Do not put it down. I used to sleep with it on my front, it helped a little in terms of staying warm.
Newspapers torn up and stuffed into your jacket can help you stay warm. Layers are your best defense, you don’t want to sweat because that will compromise your ability to stay warm and dry. If you get overheated you can peel off a layer and put it in your bag.
DONT overburden yourself. A heavy bag full of stuff might make you feel more prepared but it will also wear you out, trying to haul everything around. Pack smart, pack light.
Ziplock bags get thrown out all the time, grab them. You can pack anything you don’t want to get wet in them, and you can also suck the air out of them and seal them so they take up less space.
Learn to build shelter; this is a skill I personally think everyone should learn Just In Case, because dumpsters are great but they’re also dumpsters. You don’t want to sleep behind one unless you really, really have to.
Protein is great but if you can manage it, remember to eat FRUIT. Something with vitamin C at least; my teeth started getting loose in their sockets because I wasn’t getting enough vitamin C. Scurvy can kill you.

Hi everyone! With college application season kicking into high-gear again, I’ve gotten lots of essay-writing questions, so I thought I’d share with you the supplemental essays that helped me get into Yale University, as well as commentary on why I think they worked, and how you can stand out.
The question: Why do the majors you selected appeal to you?
For reference, the majors I chose were Comparative Literature and Statistics & Data Science.
My response:
Why did this work? When universities ask you about the major you’d like to study, they want to see that you have a clear goal in mind. I’m interested in foreign languages, literature, and algorithmic sciences, which is why I selected the majors I did; however, I also knew that I wanted to implement those interests in a tangible way in the edu-tech sector. Of course, no need to stress about the major you choose on your app; you can totally change your mind once you get to your university!
The question: Why does Yale appeal to you?
My response:
Why did this work? The first “Why Yale” draft I wrote was pretty bland – I listed out some classes and clubs I’d like to participate in. One of my friends gave me this advice that, no joke, changed my life: she said, “You’re listing things that every college has. Try to zero in on what is unique about Yale’s spirit, and prove that your choice to apply is 100% purposeful.” So I thought very carefully about why I was applying to Yale, and realized that Yale had a culture of collaboration and camaraderie that I really loved. All the same, I wanted to use the opportunity to reveal more about myself, so I decided to center my essay around food, and how cooking gives me the opportunity to engage meaningfully with the spaces I occupy.
The question: Reflect on your engagement with a community to which you belong. How do you feel you have contributed to this community?
My response:
Why did this work? Colleges want to know how you think. They’re interested in people who will bring new perspectives to the classroom, and although some guidebooks may say that writing about politics is risky, I think it’s totally fine, even if you have opinions that may be controversial or unorthodox. In addition, I wanted to write about something that was less run-of-the-mill – I could have written about my teaching experiences or grant-writing experiences, but instead I went with canvassing and being elected to the Massachusetts state convention as a delegate.
But the most essential thing of all is to be yourself! It’s so cliche, but it’s true. Write about the things you find important, not about whatever is trendy or got your friend/classmate/sibling into an Ivy League. It’s also okay to be weird; for MIT, I wrote an essay about K-pop and got in.
And remember, you’re an awesome person, and no college acceptance or rejection can change that.
