Putting my car in park, I double-check the grocery bag in my passenger seat.
Red and blue Gatorade? Check
Chicken and stars soup? Check (how cute)
Cold and flu medicine? Check
Nyquil? Check
Once I make sure I have everything, I grab my purse and head up to Daisuke’s house. After knocking on the door a few times, his mom answers. Her face lights up at my arrival. “Oh, perfect! Come in, come in!” She says enthusiastically, moving aside to let me in. I walk into the kitchen and place the grocery bag on the island. “Thank you for coming over. I know it’s probably the last thing you’d want to do, but as I said, Daisuke has been asking for you nonstop since yesterday.”
My chest hurts at her confession. “Really?” I ask, turning towards her. “Yeah.” She lets out a small chuckle, “Kept asking ‘When is Y/N coming over?’, ‘Is Y/N here yet?’, and I had to keep telling him no because we wouldn’t want you getting sick, but yesterday his fever was at the worst it’s been and he was in tears practically begging me to get you to come over so that’s when I called you.”
I feel tears prick at the corner of my eyes, and I quickly wipe them away. “Well, thank you for calling me. I was a little worried because he hadn’t been answering my texts since Saturday, so I’m glad it isn’t anything too serious.”
“Of course, dear. Before you go upstairs, I’m going to give you some of the medicine Daisuke needs to take.” She turns back towards the counter, collecting multiple different medicines. “Here you go.” She hands me a paper towel with 3 different pills and a little medicine cup with a dark red liquid. “He’s going to complain about taking the liquid medicine because he doesn’t like the taste, but maybe if you’re the one giving it to him, he won’t complain as much.” She says with a smile. “Also, take these.” She hands me a Gatorade and a water bottle. “Let me know if you need anything, dear. I’ll just be downstairs.”
I nod in response, “Got it! Thank you, Mrs. Juarez!” With all my supplies in tow, I carefully head upstairs towards Daisuke’s room.
After taking a few seconds to mentally prepare myself for what I’m about to walk into, I softly knock a few times on his door, hoping I don’t wake him up. Soon enough, I hear a faint “Come in.”
Once I open the door, it takes my eyes a few seconds to adjust to the darkness. Looking at the bed, I see Daisuke lying on his stomach, wrapped up in his comforter with just his face peeking out. I carefully walk over to the empty side of the bed and place my items on the nightstand. I take a seat on the bed and turn on the lamp. I watch as he flinches at the sudden brightness. “Sorry,” I say softly. Turning towards Daisuke, I carefully move some of the hair out of his face, getting a better look at him.
“How are you feeling, my love?” At the use of the pet name, Daisuke’s eyes fly open and lock with mine. Realizing it’s me, I’m instantly enveloped in a hug. Stiffening under his hold, I mentally agree with myself that the plan “try not to get sick” is going out the window. I wrap my arms around him, running one of my hands up and down his back.
After a few seconds, Daisuke is the first to pull away. Now, face to face, I softly cup his face with both my hands, noticing a few tears rolling down his cheeks. “Oh, baby,” I coo, carefully swiping away at the tears. My heart breaks as I take in his appearance. His face is warm to the touch, a slight flush on his cheeks, and his hair is sticking to his forehead due to his sweating.
“Y/N….” He sniffles, voice slightly cracking. “I’m here now, Dai, it’ll be ok. Here, take these first.” I reach to my left towards the nightstand, grabbing the medicines. He holds his hand out as I place the 3 pills in his palm and hand him the water bottle I brought up. After he takes them, I try to give him the medicine cup, but his face scrunches up at the sight of the liquid.
“I don’t wanna take it, it tastes gross.” He says with a pout.
“I know, Dai, but it’ll help you get better quicker!” I lean back over to the nightstand, grabbing one of the Gatorade bottles, “Here I even brought this, you can take this after you drink the medicine, like a chaser!”
“Fine,” He grabs the cup from my hand and gives it a good stare. “Shots, shots, shots!” I quietly chant while pumping my fist in the air. A small smile forms on Daisuke’s face. “3, 2, 1.” He mutters, downing it in one go. I immediately handed him the Gatorade.
“Blegh.” He says, resting his head back on my shoulder. “I hate being sick, always have to take gross medicine.” He mumbles against my neck.
“I know, but it’ll help in the end.” I place a light kiss on the top of his head. “How’re you feeling?”
“Icky and gross. I feel so hot.” I slightly pull his head away from my neck at his comment, placing a lingering kiss on his forehead to try to gauge his temperature. “Yeah, you're really warm, but the medicine should help once it kicks in.” I take a few seconds to think of what to do. “Oh! I know! Let’s try to cool you down a little, and then you can take a shower. How does that sound?” Daisuke hums in response.
Realizing that Daisuke is basically straddling me, I nudge him to get off of me, and he whines in protest. “Come on, Dai, I’ll be back! I just have to grab some stuff.” With a huff, he gets off of me and lies back down on his bed.
I go into his bathroom and grab two washcloths and a hand towel from under his sink. Turning on the faucet, I wait until the water is cold enough, then soak both washcloths and wring them out. Now with two damp washcloths in tow, I head back to the bed.
Daisuke watches me in silence as I lean one of his pillows up against his headboard and sit back down. I take one of his smaller pillows, place it on my lap, and cover it with the hand towel.
“Come here,” I say, lightly patting the pillow in my lap. “I’m gonna need you to lie on your back with your head on the pillow.” Daisuke crawls over to me and follows my directions. Once he’s comfortable, I let out a little laugh, taking notice of his feet slightly hanging off the side of the bed. Glancing back down at him, I see he’s staring at me intently, waiting for my following directions. “What we’re gonna do is, I’m gonna place this wet washcloth on your forehead, and I’m also going to hold the other one against your neck, hence the towel on the pillow,” I explain as I start folding the damp washcloths.
Daisuke tilts his head slightly, “Is this really gonna work?” I look at him, confused, “Yes? Have you never done this before?” He shakes his head, “I don’t think so? At least not recently, maybe when I was little.”
“I do this all the time, even when I’m not sick. It really helps with cooling you down, especially when it's on your neck.” I cup my hand under his head, slightly raising it so I can place the washcloth on the back of his neck, and I drape the other one along his forehead. He instantly relaxes at the coolness, letting out a satisfied hum. “This does feel nice.”
“I told you so,” I say with a smile, “Now, if you can grab my phone, can you set a timer for 15 minutes? Then afterward you can shower.” Trying not to move too much, I watch as Daisuke feels around for my phone. Eventually finding it, he unlocks it and sets a timer, placing it face down on his chest.
“So,” Daisuke starts, opening one of his eyes to peek at me, “what have you been up to while I’ve been absolutely miserable?”
“Not much, really. I had work Saturday and then went out with some friends yesterday.” I lightly wave off my comment, “but that’s neither here nor there, do you have any idea how you got sick?”
“Don’t even get me started.” He groans. “I’m pretty sure it was Andrew at work. I worked front of house with him on Friday, and he was complaining about a migraine all shift, and then threw up the last hour. He was sent home right after, so I’m like, 99% sure I got it from him.” He says with an eye roll.
“Yikes. And you said he threw up?” Daisuke nods at my question, “Have you thrown up yet?” He looks away nervously, “No…and I’d like to keep it that way. I hate throwing up.”
We continue to talk. Daisuke talks about what he’s gonna do once he gets better. (“I’m gonna go absolutely crazy at the gym.”) And I promise to treat him to boba once he’s better. Soon enough, the timer goes off, and I take the washcloths from his neck and forehead. “Feel any better? Any cooler?”
“Yeah, actually! Thanks.”
“Of course!” I say with a smile, “Now, why don’t you go shower so you’ll be less icky?” Daisuke gets up out of my lap and up on his feet a little too fast. I watch as he sways a little on his feet, and immediately, I’m by his side. Gently, I grab his arm and guide him back down to sit on his bed.
“Sorry,” He mumbles, resting his head on my shoulder. “Got up too fast.” I rest my head against his, “It’s ok, you just scared me.” We sit in silence for a few minutes, Daisuke trying to wait out his dizziness. Eventually, I helped him to the bathroom, where I led him to sit on the toilet. I turn on the shower, periodically checking the water temperature, and rummage under his sink for a towel. After everything is set up, steam starts filling the room.
“I’ll be out in your room, if you need anything, just holler, ok?” I place the back of my hand against his forehead.
“Y/N, you don’t have to worry, I’ll be fine,” Daisuke says through a laugh. I let out a soft sigh, “I know, I know. My sister passed out while taking a shower when she had a fever once, so I just get nervous.” Daisuke’s face softens at my statement, and he grabs my hands, intertwining our fingers. “I’ll be okay, I promise.” He reassures me, giving my hands a slight squeeze. I place a light kiss on his forehead and head back out to his room, closing the bathroom door behind me.
While Daisuke’s in the shower, I survey his room. “Oh brother…” I mutter to myself. I take this time to tidy up his room. Grabbing the mini trashcan by his side of his bed, I pick up any tissues lying around, empty Gatorade and water bottles, and replace the bag in the trashcan. Next, I move on to the few shirts and shorts on his floor and put them in his laundry basket, and straighten his bed. Glancing over his room, I let out a satisfied hum, “Much better.”
Moving towards his dresser, I rummage through his drawers to find clean clothes for him.
Ideally, I should find him a tank top since he’s been so hot lately, but I think they all need to be washed. I quickly glance at his laundry basket, taking note of a few of his tank tops on the top of the pile.
In the back of my head, a mischievous little voice speaks. Or, you know, he could just be shirtless. Feeling a slight blush bloom on my cheeks, I quickly shake the thought out of my head. No, absolutely not, you’re here to take care of Dai, not make googly eyes at him. Continuing my search through his dresser, I eventually land on his green baseball tee and a random pair of his cotton lounge shorts.
Having done everything on my mini to-do list, I decided to lie on Daisuke’s bed and aimlessly scroll on TikTok.
A few minutes later, I hear the water turn off, and Daisuke walks out into his room. I quickly glance up at him and shamefully do a double-take at him. He has a towel wrapped around his waist and another one around his neck, attempting to dry his hair with it. I glance down at his chest, taking notice of the water droplets sliding down his body. Taking notice of my staring problem, Daisuke clears his throat, a smirk forming on his face. “Like what you see?”
Having been caught red-handed, I feel my face get hot, and I quickly look away from him. “Maybe…” I mumble, and he lets out a chuckle at my response.
Letting out an embarrassed sigh, I take a quick once-over at him. “Do you feel better?”
“A little, at least I don’t feel as icky on the outside as I do the inside.”
“That’s good!” I get up from his bed and take a few steps towards him. I place the back of my hand against his forehead, trying to gauge his temperature. “Hmm, you’re not as warm anymore, but I’ll probably still keep the washcloth on your forehead once you're dressed,” I mutter more to myself. I turn back from him, grabbing the clothes from his bed.
“I was trying to find you a tank top, but I think they all need to be washed, so I grabbed your green baseball tee-”
“Of course you did.”
I shoot him a look across my shoulder, “-and some random pair of shorts I found. I thought the shirt would be thin enough so you wouldn’t get as hot.” I place the clothes in his outstretched hands.
“Thank you.” He says softly. “Of course,” I say with a smile. I lay down on his head, draping my arm across my eyes. “I don’t feel like hanging out in a humid ass bathroom while you’re changing, so I’m just gonna stay in here. Just let me know when you’re done.”
“Okay.” He says through laughter. I hear him shuffle around, changing into his clothes. I feel the bed dip next to me, “Done.” Removing my arm from my face, I see Daisuke has sat next to me. Sitting back up, I take the seat next to him, and he rests his head on my shoulder as he lets out a deep sigh.
“You okay?” I ask softly, running my hand up and down his back.
“Yeah, that took a lot out of me.”
“What did?”
“Taking a shower. All I’ve been doing these past few days is lying down. I can’t believe just taking a shower took so much of my energy.”
“But that’s good! Your body needs rest to get better faster! Even though it can be annoying, it’s the best thing you can do.”
“I guess..”, he says sadly. I grab his hand and pull him up with me. “Come, let's go dry your hair. Then we can watch a movie or something, maybe that’ll make lying around less annoying.”
I led him back to his bathroom, “Sit.” I say, pointing back at the toilet. Daisuke takes a seat while I grab his hairdryer and brush. Plugging the hairdryer in, I check the temperature to make sure it isn’t too hot, and start carefully brushing through Daisuke’s damp hair and drying it. We sit in a comfortable atmosphere, with my soft humming and the hairdryer's sounds. Realizing that Daisuke has been oddly quiet, I peek around to take a look at him, and I feel a smile form on my face. He looks so peaceful, seemingly very much enjoying me drying his hair.
Once his hair is mostly dry, I stand in front of him and hook my index finger under his chin, tilting his head up to look at me. Carefully, I brush through his bangs and make sure his hair is all nice and neat.
“You’re so cute when you’re focused.”
My attention is drawn to Daisuke at his comment, “Hmm?” Locking eyes with him, I feel my heart stutter in my chest at the sheer amount of adoration shining in his eyes.
I feel him wrap his arms around my middle, pulling me towards him and resting his chin on my chest. “When you’re really focused, you stick your tongue out a little and look so serious, it’s super cute.” He says softly. “Thanks,” I say quietly. Daisuke turns his head slightly, resting his ear against my chest, right where my heart is. He lets out a contented sigh as I run my fingers through his hair. We sit in a comfortable silence for a little while, just enjoying each other’s presence, but it’s not long until Daisuke breaks it.
“Thank you.” I feel more than hear, Daisuke mumble into my chest. “What? For drying your hair?” I respond, confusion laced in my voice.
“Well, yes, but also for coming over and taking care of me. I know it isn’t ideal, especially with the outcome of you most likely getting sick, but I really appreciate you being here with me.” I feel my heart swell at his statement. I carefully cup his face and pull him away from my chest, locking eyes with him. I quietly take in his appearance. His eyes held so much love for me, and the slight smile gracing his face made him look so beautiful.
“You’re welcome.” I say softly, “You know I’d do anything for you, even if it results in me getting sick, because I love you.” I place a kiss on his forehead. I grab one of his hands and pull him up onto his feet. “Let’s go watch a movie, yeah? Your choice.” Daisuke pumps his fist in the air. I just shake my head at his antics.
Walking back towards his bed, I sit back where I was with my back against the headboard. Once I’m comfortable, Daisuke crawls over and rests his head on my lap. “Am I just your personal pillow now, cuddlebug?”
“Yep.” He says, nuzzling his face into my thighs, placing a light kiss on the exposed skin. I reach over to his nightstand and grab the remote, putting it in front of his face. I watch as he scrolls through the multiple streaming platforms and eventually lands on Disney+.
I cock my head to the side, “Oh? Are we gonna watch a Disney movie?”
“Maybe….” I hear him mumble. I watch as he types "Mulan" into the search bar. “Ooo, good choice! I haven’t watched this movie in ages!”
“Thank you, thank you.” He presses play, placing the remote near my hand and gets comfortable, cuddling with one of his pillows. I ran my fingers through his hair, enjoying how soft it felt.
After Honor To Us All finishes, I break the silence. “Dare I say, Honor To Us All may be better than I’ll Make a Man Out of You. Thoughts?” After being met with silence to my question. I look down at Daisuke and notice he’s asleep. My face softens at how peaceful he looks. I grab the remote and turn down the volume, not wanting to risk waking him up.
Soon enough, I start feeling the tug of sleep pull at my eyes. With the weight of Daisuke in my lap and the quiet sounds of the movie playing, I descend into sleep.
~~
I wake up to the soft sounds of knocking on the door. “Come in,” I say, sleep still lacing my voice. In response, I see Mrs. Juarez peek her head in. A smile blooms on her face at the sight of us. “Sorry to wake you, but I just wanted to let you know that dinner is ready, if you two would like to come down.”
I nod, hiding a yawn behind my hand, “Ok, thank you. I’ll wake Daisuke up, and we’ll be down in a minute.”
“Alright, dear. No rush.” She closes the door behind her, and I hear her steps fade away as she goes downstairs. I glance at the TV and notice the movie has stopped playing.
Jeez, how long was I out for?
Rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I carefully shake Daisuke. “Dai? Time to wake up.” Daisuke flips in my lap, now lying on his back. I brush my hand through his hair, moving it out of his face, and swipe my thumb across his cheek. “Come on, my love, your mom made dinner, you gotta get up.”
“M’dont wanna….” He hums, eyes still closed. “You can go back to sleep after we eat, you just have to eat something. All this medicine on an empty stomach can’t be good.”
He lets out a sigh, opening his eyes to look up at me, “Fine.” He says through a yawn. “Good, now please hurry, I can’t feel my legs.” Daisuke slowly sits up, and I can gradually feel the feeling in my legs come back as I move around. Glancing over at Daisuke, I see him rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, and a slight laugh escapes from me at the sight of his hair, sticking up in all sorts of directions.
“What? What’s so funny?”
“Your hair is a mess,” I say through a laugh as I reach over and try to smooth out his hair. “There, all better.” With his hair all fixed, I get out of his bed and stretch. Raising my hands above my head, I cringe at the pops coming from my body. I walk over to Daisuke’s side of the bed and hold my hand out towards him, “Come on, I don’t know about you, but I’m starving.” He laughs at my comment as he grabs my hand, interlocking our fingers, as I drag him downstairs towards the kitchen.
Daisuke’s mom is standing at the stove, finishing up the last bits of dinner. Sensing our presence,
she turns towards us, a smile on her face. “Well, good morning lovebirds, did you both have a nice nap?”
“Yes,” We both say in unison. His mom lets out a laugh at our synchronization.
I take a seat at the kitchen island and watch as Daisuke gives his mom a side hug, resting his head on top of hers.
“How do you feel?”
“Fine, I guess. My head hurts again.” His mom places a kiss on his forehead, “Hmm, I’ll give you some medicine after dinner.” I watch as she grabs a bowl from the cabinet, scooping something from one of the pots into it, and hands it to Daisuke. “Y/N was nice enough to go to the store before she came by earlier and bought you your favorite.” A smile lights up Daisuke’s face as he looks into his bowl, “Oh my god, chicken and stars soup!” He quickly walks over to me, placing a kiss on the top of my head, “You’re the best, Y/N.”
“Of course, my love, anything to help you get better faster,” I say through a giggle. He walks into the dining room as his mom hands me a bowl, “Oh, this looks so yummy, Mrs.Juarez, thank you!”
Together we walked into the dining room. I take the seat next to Daisuke as his mom takes the seat opposite us. Daisuke’s mom and I fell into a comfortable conversation.
After a while, I glance over at Daisuke, taking notice of how silent and spacey he’s been. “Everything ok?” I ask softly, placing my hand on his thigh. My question seems to break him out of the trance he’s in, “Hmm? O-oh yeah, I’m fine.” He glances up at his mom, “Can I be excused? I think I need to lie down.”
“Of course, dear.” Getting his mom's okay, Daisuke stands up from the table. “Don’t worry about your bowl, I’ll take it,” I say, reaching for his hand. “I’ll join you upstairs in a few minutes, okay?” He nods as I give his hand a reassuring squeeze, and he heads back upstairs. I turn back towards Daisuke’s mom, trying to hide the worry in my voice. “Do you think he’s okay? I thought he was finally doing better; he seemed to be in a better mood before our nap.”
“He’ll be okay, dear. He hasn’t eaten since yesterday morning; the soup might’ve just been too much for him.” She reassures me. She excuses herself from the table and grabs my bowl from me. I give her a soft ‘thank you’ as I grab Daisuke’s bowl and follow her to the kitchen. Mrs.Juarez hands me a Tupperware to store the rest of Daisuke’s soup. I pour it in and place it in the fridge. Turning back around, I see Mrs.Juarez holding out a paper towel with the same three pills as earlier and a medicine cup with a different liquid than last time.
“It’s about time for him to retake his medicine. “This,” she hands me the medicine cup, “is Nyquil. It doesn’t taste as bad as the cold and flu medicine, so he shouldn’t complain as much.” She says with a slight laugh. “It usually takes about 10 minutes to kick in, so I’d probably wait a little to give it to him.” I carefully take the pills and cup from her hands, making note of her instructions. “Got it, thank you!”
With the medicine in hand, I head back up to Daisuke’s room. Once inside, I hear quiet sniffling coming from Daisuke, who’s curled in on himself on his side of the bed. A slight frown forms on my face as I place the medications on the nightstand on the opposite side of the bed. With my hands now free, I walk over to Daisuke, squatting down so I’m eye level with him. “You okay, Dai?” I move some of the hair out of his face and wipe away a few of his stray tears. “Queasy…” He softly mumbles.
Oh.
“Can you scoot over a little?” I questioned. Daisuke shuffles over a little, enough to give me space to sit next to him. Once I’m comfortable, I pat my lap, trying to get him to rest his head. He takes my offer, and I run my hand up and down his side, trying to give him some sort of comfort. “I don’t wanna be sick.” He says quietly through sniffles. My heart breaks at how sad he sounds. “I know, baby, but you’ll feel so much better if you do,” I assure him.
A few minutes go by in silence, and as soon as I think Daisuke is asleep, he shoots up out of my lap and makes a beeline for the bathroom. Trying to process what just happened, the sound of retching coming from the bathroom breaks me out of my shock, and I spring onto my feet and head into the bathroom.
I’m immediately by Daisuke’s side, holding his hair back and rubbing soft, slow circles on his back. “It’s okay, just let it all out.” Once he gets everything out of his system, he collapses into my side, soft pants leaving his mouth. “You’re okay, my love.” I guide him over to lean back against the shower doors and clean up. I flush the toilet and grab a washcloth from under his sink, wetting it a little. I go back to where Daisuke is sitting and kneel in front of him. I carefully tilt his face up and wipe his mouth with the damp washcloth.
“Do you feel better?” I ask, and he weakly nods in response, a dazed look on his face. “That’s good. Do you think you can get up, or do you need a few seconds?”
“Can you give me a few seconds?” He says hoarsely, leaning his head against the shower door. I nod and head back into his room, grabbing a water bottle. Bringing it with me into the bathroom, I hand it to Daisuke, and he downs half of it. After a few seconds, he holds his hand out towards me, and I grab it, hauling him up to his feet. “Why don’t you brush your teeth and then we’ll get you to bed, yeah?”
“Okay.” He whispers and heads towards the sink to brush his teeth. I go back into his bedroom and get it ready for bed, rearranging his pillows, pulling back the comforter and sheet, and turning off one of his lamps. As I’m reaching for the medicine on the nightstand, I feel arms wrap around my middle and Daisuke pulling me into his chest, resting his head on mine. “M’tired.” I feel his voice vibrate against my back. “I know, baby, here take these, and then you can get to bed.” I pry one of his hands off of me and carefully place the three pills into his palm. He pops them in his mouth, and I hand him one of the water bottles on his nightstand.
With his grip loosened on me, I turn in his hold. Now facing towards him, I hold the medicine cup out of his view. “Now, don’t hate me, but,” I carefully hold the cup up to eye level, “I need you to take this.” He gives me a deadpan expression.
“I just threw up, and now you want me to take this gross ass medicine.”
“Actually,” I say, holding my pointer finger up on my other hand, “this is Nyquil, not the cold and flu medicine, so it doesn’t taste as gross.”
Daisuke narrows his eyes at my statement. “Oh come on, Dai, you really think I’d lie to you?”
“No…”
I let out a sigh, “If it’s of any help, you took the cold medicine at around 5, and it works for 12 hours,s and right now it’s,” I reach into my back pocket, grabbing my phone to check the time, “8:30. So you have 8 ½ hours left. Plus, you can even smell the medicine and notice that it has more of a minty smell and not like cherries.” I place the cup under his nose, looking at him expectantly.
“Well, seeing as my nose is stuffy-”
“Oh, right.”
“-I’ll take your word for it.” He carefully grabs the small cup from my hand. Giving the cup one last glare, he downs it in one go and chugs the rest of the water bottle that I had previously given him. “I feel like I just ate a tub of vapor rub.” He says with a groan, resting his forehead against mine. I let out a small laugh at his comment. “Well, better than whatever aftertaste you had before. Now let’s get you to bed.”
Before I can get out of his hold, his grip on me tightens. “Can you stay the night, please?” He practically begs, giving me his best puppy eyes. Realizing what he’s doing, I quickly shut my eyes, shaking my head no. “I’m sorry, my love, I can’t. I have work early tomorrow.” Feeling him deflate at my response, I open my eyes, looking at him. I move both my hands from my sides and cup his face. “I can stay with you until you fall asleep if you’d like.” He nods in my hold. “And I’ll visit you after work tomorrow to check in on you.” I feel one of his hands move from my back as he holds it up to me, pinky extended out, “Promise?” He asks softly. A small smile forms on my face as I remove one of my hands from his face, interlocking my pinky with his, “Promise.”
With reassurances out of the way, I lead him back to his bed and tuck him in. Once he’s settled, I sit on the bed next to him, sitting against his headboard.
I place my hand on the bed, palm side up. Realizing what I’m trying to convey, Daisuke softly places his hand in mine, and I raise it to my mouth. “Good night, Daisuke,” I murmur against his hand, placing a kiss on the back of it. “Good night, Y/N.” He replies softly, sleep already lacing his voice. I watch as his eyes flutter shut and he lets out a contented sigh.
After a few minutes of watching him sleep, I carefully remove my hand from his and place a kiss on the top of his head. “Get better soon, Dai,” I whisper into his hair. I carefully get up from his bed, being mindful not to wake him, and make my way out.
