Hi me again so basically I can't do an experiment because it would require human participation and drugs but my supervisor said that j could still write an EE without an experiment but now after working on a rough draft I feel like IB won't think that my essay is substantial because I'm basically just restating research that's already out there. However, I want to talk about how this is a great example of the power of medicine in my reasoned argument.
Hey! I'd say to follow your gut feeling. If you don't think it'll be substantial then don't do it. Run it by your teacher, ask for opinions. As for fellow biology students' opinions. If they're all telling you that it's lacking interest then you have your answer. No amount of bullshitting will do any good unless you believe it yourself. Always go for a mic drop feeling and if you can't find one then it's not worth wasting your time on an empty subject. /Ida
Hey everyone so seeing as we all have graduated we have spent very little time on this blog. I'm gonna take free reigns here and say that I'll be responding to some stuff, not now, but later. Also feel free to follow our personal blogs since that's where we spend most of our Tumblr time. :)
The planet does not need more successful people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kind.

This is to all of you who have already or are getting your exam results, and I think it is important to remember, regardless of what the numbers say on that page.Â

Which area of knowledge does computer science fall under? Like the coding/programming part of computer science. Would that be under mathematics or the natural sciences?
Hi!
According to this thread http://www.ibsurvival.com/topic/33183-is-computer-sciences-an-individual-area-of-knowledge/ it falls under both :) However, I recommend you ask your ToK teacher for further clarification.Â
Good luck!

So this might be (one of) my last posts on here and therefore I want to get a very BIG message across. With the last posts I have shared consisting of successful people who managed without perfect grades I do not encourage you to drop out of school, but I do encourage you to have a passion that is different from your in-school life. Perhaps that passion can lead to something great and you too can be successful with something you love!Â
As you have been able to understand my relationship to school has been rough, but not once can I say that I entirely regret it. Yes, there are moments that I said âI wish I never chose this path,â but instead I should have been less rough on myself. Yes you have to try and you should be determined to do your best but donât let it get to your head. You will be fine everything will be alright, sometimes it just takes a while to get there.Â
I need you to make a promise for me: please do take care of yourself. I was on that side and hated when people told me âit will be alrightâ because I always thought âof course you say that because you are already in a safe place,â but honestly they were so right. I used to not even be able to imagine a life past DP1 and wondered if it would be better if I wasnât here, but now I can finally see what I want to do and I will guarantee myself that I will not fear taking risks. Honestly JUST DO IT!!!
As said, all of us on this blog will be graduating in 2 months but if you ever need to talk please please please message me at @allusernameswerealreadytaken. I want to get to know you all better and I will make sure you get through this!!!! We can do it together!!!!Â
On a final not my teacher told me that he had seen I had come a long way throughout IB. That I had a determined and positive attitude and that I should work with business management because I am good at it. Honestly it was one of the most confidence boosting moments of my life! <3Â
Alright love you guys! Thank you for listening/reading all my posts!
Signing off (a final time),Â
Ida de Miranda :*Â
I just wanna say something to our high school studyblr community:
YES you want to go to college. YES college is an exciting time in your life.Â
HOWEVER
College in real life is NOTHING like they portray it in the movies:
Sororities arenât all preppy girls.Â
Fraternities arenât all preppy/douchey guys
You are probably not going to be able to balance doing everything and keep your sanity
Youâre probably gonna have a mental/emotional break down at least once
There is injustice.
Not everything is fair
The wifi wonât work sometimes
College food is incredibly unhealthy most of the time
your roommate will probably be one of those roommates
one night stands arenât gonna be magical and fun sometimes
parties arenât always what they show in the movies.Â
You might injure yourself at some point.
Some residence halls donât have elevators and a lot of floors.
some professors want you to fail
financial aid and admissions are going to be your worst enemy
blackboard fucking sucks.Â
Youâre going to want to quit school.Â
Youâre going to want to come home every single day.
Some days youâre gonna want to run away
some days youâre going to want to chug a bottle of liquor because life sucks
And you know what? Itâs gonna be okay. College isnât all rainbows and butterflies: itâs hard work. Itâs late nights studying for a subject you absolutely hate. Itâs nights alone in your room while your roommate is out with their significant other wondering how youâre ever going to move past that bad grade. Itâs a breakup at a bad time in your life. Itâs freaking out because you forgot an assignment that was worth a lot of points.Â
HOWEVER
Itâs also those afternoons where your roommate and their SO is talking and laughing and joking about everything under the sun with you. Itâs quiet nights looking up at the stars wondering where this life is taking you. Itâs getting that perfect grade you worked weeks for. Itâs going to that party and jumping out of your comfort zone.Â
College is nothing like the movies. Itâs deeper. Itâs much more than what movies provide for you as an example.Â
Iâve said it before, and Iâll stay it again: this generation has taken the âeducationâ out of higher education. Take everything you hear about college with a grain of salt. Ultimately, it is up to you how you experience college, but donât take a movie or social mediaâs word for how college is going to be. College is not going to be the most exciting time of your life. You have so much time ahead of you to have even more exciting experiences with the people you love most.Â
After sitting the entire day yesterday I decided to continue the "people to look up to" tag today. Today's person to look up to is Mr. Kellin Quinn. As you can see this is the one gif that is entirely black and white and that is because as you all are aware of, my anxiety has lead to me enjoying some fantabulously awesome 'emo' bands (if so you would like to refer to them). Mr. Quinn grew up in the US of A with his mom and dad, however 3 days short of his 4th birthday his dad walked out on the family thus Kellin keeping his mom's name Quinn instead of his father's. Kellin performed with the band Closer to Closure before hitting the big stages with his current band Sleeping With Sirens. Kellin has a beautiful wife named Katelynne who had two sons before getting married to Kellin (no I do not know Katelynne's age and quite frankly I don't give a rat's a**. Leave her alone about it!). Any who, Kellin adopted both boys to consider his own and later the couple had a daughter together. He is a genuinely kind soul and I think the entire band consists of people you guys can look up to. Facts about Kellin: Age: 29 Stage Name: Sleeping With Sirens Best Song/s: (honestly this is so hard to answer, but I'd say...) Left Alone, Go Go Go, November and his cover of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls Twitter: @ SWStheband Quote: 'Wrists are for bracelets, not cutting' With that being said I hope y'all have a lovely night and wake up refreshed for school tomorrow. â¤ď¸ Signing off, Ida

Dan Howell is the YouTuber who I would turn to when I was a sad and lonely (no exaggeration there) 15 year old. His videos could always cheer me up. When my friend took his life I sort of locked myself in and had a hard time connecting to everyone around me on a deeper level, but my mind would go to YouTube where I could get a moment of laughter. Dan has one heck of a hyper personality. Thus, when he went on to study law at the University of Manchester he simply couldn't connect with the course and dropped out shortly after. He decided to take the risk and give it all to his YouTube account danisnotonfire. Later he moved in with another well know YouTuber named Phil (AmazingPhil). He often felt that the world could slip from under his feet any moment but eventually all that changed. Both Dan and Phil received their own radio show on BBC radio where they interviewed celebrities, had games, etc. So yes, you can still survive life and be successful if one of your plans doesn't work out. â¤ď¸ Facts about Dan Howell: Age: 24 Artist Name: Dan YouTube: danisnotonfire Quote: "You are an independent mind in this universe that can do everything and anything you have ever dreamed of." -Dan Howell
Jamie Oliver, yet another very successful human being who was believed to flop in life after practically failing all his high school courses (which he shared on Skavlan). Jamie is one of the most world known celebrity chefs and has had various successful television shows/documentaries. He has met some of my favorite idols such as Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Adele and even appeared on the same talk show as the Swedish Princess and her husband. He was also offered a role in The Lord of the Rings in exchange for some cooking. So all the people who looked down on him after his high school results, shove your ignorance where the sun doesn't shine. Facts about Jamie Oliver: Age: 40 Artist Name: Jamie Oliver Shows: Jamie's School Dinners, Jamie's Dream School, etc. Quote: "I left school with basically nothing, I was a special needs kid. I did feel as though my school had let me down." -Jamie Oliver
Adele, Adele, Adele...what can I say? After singing Hello in the shower everyday for about 2 weeks I had to search this lady up. Knowing she had so many Billboard listings but not once had I seen an interview I was keen on finding out more about Ms. Adele. Assuming she would be a strict know-it-all with a boring persona, I was happily surprised when I watched her "funniest moments" on YouTube. I was even more surprised that her "funniest moments" had been divided up into 3 videos with each video being between 6-10 minutes. This lady made me laugh out loud for real. When I later watched her Skavlan interview where she discussed how she moved out at age 16 in order to record a CD my jaw dropped. She meant to say that she risked it all...AND WAS SUCCESSFUL? But those things aren't supposed to happen...we are all supposed to go on to work a regular 9 to 5 (slightly over dramatic here). Still though, she's just another example of how chasing one's dream, no matter how far fetched, is better than following the stream and always wondering "what if?" With that being said though, stay in school (at least high school) and then decide what YOU want to do. Facts about Adele: Age: 27 Family: husband Simon Konecki and son Angelo Konecki Artist Name: Adele Twitter: @ Adele Quote: "I'm really happy to be me, and I'd like to think people like me more because I'm happy with myself and not because I refuse to conform to anything." -Adele
itâs your life. live it how you want, okay?
What I love, and always have loved, about girl groups is that each girl has her unique style/personality/voice. This can be applied to all-girl friend groups and all-girl music groups. One of these all-girl music groups is Little Mix. These babes mix patterns in their clothing, sing from the top of their lungs and are not afraid to be fierce. Their confidence is something I admire greatly and wish I had more of. Just playing one of their up-beat songs in my headphones whilst walking around school makes school just that much more entertaining. Facts about Little Mix: Ages: 22 (Perrie), 24 (Jesy), 24 (Leigh-Anne) and 22 (Jade) Artist Name: Little Mix Rose to Fame: British X Factor (2011) Best Song/s: Change Your Life, DNA, Secret Love Song Twitter: @ littlemix Quote: âAnd ainât no uptown sucker gonna tell me how to live my life.â â Little Mix (Perrie Edwards)

Ok, so I guess y'all didn't expect a YouTuber on this list of inspirational people, but Y'ALL WERE WRONG! Now, when my friend William introduced me to Pewdiepie back in the day I watched a video or two of his thinking, "yeah this guy is pretty alright, but I'm not into gaming so I don't know if I should subscribe. I went to look at the amount of people subscribed to him and saw over 30 million people! 30 MILLION! This made me rethink and I ended up clicking that subscribe button anyway. After some time I realized his content was not strictly gaming and I was happily surprised. His videos could really brighten my day because they were so out there and different and he wasn't afraid to point out things other people aimed to keep quiet about. A very honest person in other words. Pewdiepie, or Pewds, is the time earning YouTuber in the world I believe, but no he does not keep all the riches for himself. He has made it clear that he's not solely into YouTube for the money, and much of the profits he gives away to charities. He's one of the people you are able to turn to in a moment of stress because he's sure to give you a laugh. Also he's a Swede so SWEDEN REPRESENT!!!! Facts about Pewdiepie: Age: 26 Real Name: Felix Kjellberg Artist Name: Pewdiepie YouTube: Pewdiepie Quote: "Dropping the news to my parents that I was skipping my âdream educationâ at Chalmers to sit at home recording videos while playing video games was not easy.â -Felix Kjellberg
FEED YOUR BRAIN
You canât expect to get the best out of yourself if you donât nourish your body properly. Adding these foods to your diet will benefit your study and lifestyle in general, trust me
HEALTHY OILS olive oil, avocado oil, peanut oil etc. â Healthy oils are high in antioxidants such as vitamin E and they boost your memory. FISH sardines, salmon etc. â Fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which improve memory and focusing! COFFEE â Caffeine wakes you up but donât overdo it: 60 ml per day (the equivalent of two espresso) or less is enough to keep you alert, too much caffeine causes insomnia and anxiety and we donât want that. Donât like coffee? Try apples instead! EGGS â A source of energy, they contain proteins and choline (also called âmemory vitaminâ⌠the name speaks for itself!) CHERRIES â By adding cherries into your diet, youâll get better sleep, since theyâre high in melatonin BANANAS â Iâm not kidding when I say I eat a banana a day. They contain magnesium, potassium, folic acid, vitamin B6 and more. What are you waiting for? Go eat a banana, your brain will thank you! NUTS & SEEDS walnuts, almonds, pistachios, sunflower seeds etc. â Their nutrients reduce stress, boost memory and help your cognitive functions in general DARK CHOCOLATE â Contains antioxidants, magnesium and flavonoids. It stimulates blood to flow to your brain and lowers blood pressure AVOCADO â Avocadoes are filled with healthy fats, magnesium and lots of vitamin E. it regulates blood pressure and improves blood flowing resulting in general brain developement and stress to decrease. BERRIES blueberries, strawberries, acai berries â another food that should never miss in your diet: being high in antioxidants and flavonoids, berries actually do improve your memory and focusing a lot! LEAFY GREENS lettuce, spinach, kale etc. â these are loaded with magnesium, vitamins, iron⌠force yourself to eat at least one serving per day (but if you can eat more, then go for it!) BROCCOLI & ASPARAGUS â these guys are full of folic acid (1 cup = 2/3 of your daily value). Be sure to have your daily dose of folic acid, as it helps relieve stress and depression. ORANGES â full of vitamin C which is good for your immune system and also helps relieving stress OATS â oats will boost your serotonin levels, consequently boosting your mood. i personally recommend whole-grains TEA â green tea is good for focusing and stress relief, but you know whatâs even better? black tea!
tips
1. eating colorful is the easiest way to a more healthy diet (same-color foods often share same nutrients) 2. if youâre a picky eater, try disguising tastes with seasonings, spices (and everything nice) or by combining them with foods you like 3. drink water!!! at least 1 L per day!! carrying a bottle of water wherever you go is the trick! 4. plan ahead + prep your meals!! thereby you will avoid that unpleasant âi donât know what to eatâ situation (which often leads to eating junk food :// ) 5. make your grocery list before going to the supermarket!!! pros: less time wasted, wonât get distracted by other things you donât need to buy, know ahead how much $$ youâre gonna spend 6. ALWAYS check the expiration date of products you buy + know when to consume your fruits&veggies
RECIPES
Tbh, when it comes to study snacks im a very lazy person (plus in my world time is money and i hate wasting precious study time) so i usually eat rather simple dishes. Then, what do i prep when i feel more creative?
FRUIT SALAD (easiest snack ever tbh everyone can do this no matter how bad u are at cooking)
all you need is
love
fruit of your choice
(optional) cocoa powder / cinnamon / lemon juice
what u gonna do now
wash the fruit, peel it (if needed) and then slice it
put everything in a bowl and itâs good to go
BUT if you want, you can add cocoa powder, cinnamon or lemon juice for extra flavor. use your creativity, (almost) anything can work!
i love fruit salads bc theyâre healthy, easy + quick to make (not to mention super delicious)!! here you can see one i made w/ strawberries and cocoa powder
FRUIT PARFAIT (another easy option, but a more creative one *sunglasses emoji*)
all you need is
fruit (u donât say)
oat bran
yogurt
what u gonna do now
wash, peel and slice the fruit
grab a tall glass/mug/whatever and make the first layer with fruit
then add the yogurt for the second layer
third layer is going to be the oat bran
depending on the height of the glass/mug, you may go on w/ the layers
this is optional but you can add toppings if you want to make it look even cuter (and yummier)
what i like about this big bad boy here is that itâs SO fulfilling!!
BAKED PUMPKIN SEEDS (for my savory lovers out there)
all you need is
pumpkin seeds
thats it. thats all u need
what u gonna do now
take a pan and cover it with baking paper
place the seeds on the paper and cook in the oven for 20 mins at 200°C
done!! B)
super simple, isnât it? and guess what? they actually taste like popcorn!! no lie!!!
BAKED ZUCCHINIS
all you need is
zucchinis!
lemon juice
pepper
what u gonna do now
wash and slice the zucchinis french fry style
put them in a bowl, add lemon juice + pepper and mix all well together
cover a pan with a sheet of baking paper and place the seasoned slices
cook in the oven for 20-30 mins at 200°C, flipping them over when theyâre half done
now you have a more healthy and tasty version of french fries to eat while studying!
(on a side note: you canât even imagine how painful typing âzucchinisâ was to me)
OATMEAL BANANA COOKIES (my fave!!)
all you need is
oatmeals
a banana
cinnamon or cocoa powder
what u gonna do
peel and slice the banana
smash the banana w/ a fork in a bowl, then add the oatmeals + cinnamon/cocoa powder and mix
cover the pan w/ your trusted baking paper. using a spoon, place the mixture on the paper forming little circular shapes (they donât have to be perfect)
cook in the oven for 20 mins at 200°C (remember to flip them over at the 10mins mark)
let them cool off for 30-40 mins and theyâre ready to eat!
these take quite a bit but you can prep them before starting to study, then you do your revision/practice while you wait for them to cool off and finally you can take a break + enjoy them!
