i made the mistake of following dumbass discourse on tiktok and. there are straight women really out here reinventing the AIDS crisis to justify not thinking about WHY they wouldn't date a bi man. literally. i read an entire thread of someone defending that they don't want AIDS so they won't date bi men. or that they don't want to be cheated on with a man. i've seen people suggest that it's akin to rape for a man to not disclose he's bisexual.
and you know what? fine! you don't have to date bi men and if you refuse to introspect, that's on you. but don't come to queer spaces and queer people for anything. and don't come to US insisting you're not homophobic for being disgusted by queer men.
don't come to drag brunch, many of those performers are bi men. don't come to pride, there's lots of bisexuals there. don't show up at gay bars, bi men go all the time, and they could even ask you out! don't watch heated rivalry and sure as hell don't post about it. if you hold the kinds of biases that make you physically repulsed to otherwise wonderful bi men simply because they have the capacity to like men, you are absolutely just a homophobe and are not welcome.
idk i just think it's awful when people refuse to even acknowledge how they're being harmful. especially when those same people indulge in our culture and community. it's similar to the way i (asian, bi) feel about white people who fetishize asians liking kpop and anime.
