I’ve had OCD for most of my life but until a few years ago, I assumed it was GAD and I treated it as such. It wasn’t only ineffective but I was also wrong. I had a completely different disorder. This is why self diagnosis is harmful. There is still a huge chance of being wrong. Unless you’re Issue isn’t in the DSM yet and you have no choice but to self-diagnose, go to a doctor!

I understand self diagnosis to some extent but people should really not glorify it or sport these labels around and talk about their self-dxxed illness with confidence when they don’t even know for sure if they have it.

Even the most unlucky person in the world doesn’t have this many mental health issues.
