The Giant Rhino Head, in progress. The main structure is made from chicken wire, with thicker wire to brace it and fix the shape, then the outlines of the horns were made from wire, and woven into the chicken wire for maximum stability. The whole thing was covered in hessian from the farmer’s market, which was sewn in place.

We decided to tell this story using elements of clowning and puppetry, using the cat puppet, a bunraku and marionette porté style puppet, as a motif to join the devised sections of clowning to Ionesco’s script. It was an incredibly complex puppet to make, with naturalistic joints and movements. It was done on a budget of about £50, and largely made from found materials. The set, too, was made from many found objects, such as crates, sawn up, painted and arranged.

The success of this marketing campaign can be seen in the simplicity of the profile pictures for Facebook - the brand identity, the colour yellow, was powerful enough that they don’t need the show title. And we sold out, with our second release of tickets going in 27 minutes.

Phantom of the Opera (HT16), for which I was Assistant Costume Designer & Mask maker (for the Masquerade Ball scene). The Phantom’s mask was made of real mirror pieces, and all of the main cast had masks to suit their characters.

A leaflet I designed for the incoming freshers, with some useful energy-saving, and environmentally friendly info. I designed this in Illustrator, to be risograph-printed by Oxford-based, environmentally-friendly printing company, GreenPrint. (Sep 2015).

Costume Design for Paradise Lost: A Staged Reading in Three Parts (TT15, in New College Chapel). Unfortunately there are not many photos of the final show, however I made everything from the sketches, including 10 sets of the black chiffon wings in the first picture!
