Everything I read about recovering from burnout is like “it takes months or even years to fully recover” and it’s like okay…. I have a weekend before I gotta clock in on Monday

when i was a kid i was taught to be safe online. never give out my name, location, or any personally identifying information. i was told to immediately block people who ask for A/S/L. i was taught to always hide who i was, use a pseudonym, only share my email with people i absolutely trust.
and now im supposed to give my legal driver's license to every single porn website and use my email and sign up for ads and junk mail every time i want to read an article and agree to webcrawling ad tracking surveillance to do anything online anymore.
but yeah, its for kids safety. sure. i bet the panoption is much safer than the club penguin and nickelodeon dot com that i had as a kid. so glad we got rid of kid friendly spaces and in turn had to make the entire internet advertisement friendly. so glad we tore down that public park and replaced it with a strip mall and parking lot next to a police station
Some pride edits of the superhero emojis! Enjoy~

If I may offer a book recommendation:
A Quick Ting On: Black Girl Afro by Zainab Kwaw-Swanzy
I'll just copy the blurb in here bc I can't describe it better (I did try lol but then I deleted it bc the blurb is better):
Black Women's hair is a topic that has been at the centre of contemporary conversation for some time. This informative book explores the rich cultural history of Black Women's Afros weaving in anecdotal tales from Black women along the way.
Exploring the ways in which Black women's natural hair is often politicised and judged, A Quick Ting On: The Black Girl Afro chronicles the ways in which the styling of Black Women's hair has influenced popular culture and intersected with Black expression.
Complete with intimate interviews and real-life stories about natural hair journeys and the hunt for hair products, A Quick Ting On: The Black Girl Afro is a powerful exploration into the Black Woman's Afro ― celebrating the versatility and diversity of Black women's natural hair.
It's especially useful if you want to learn about Black British culture! There are also photos and footnotes so you can learn more!
A Quick Ting On is a whole series which looks great - I'm probably going to read the plantain one next (and then maybe bamboo earrings).
Thank you for sharing! We definitely gotta get some more love and understanding of the afro on here.
imo the way you feel about groups it's fully socially acceptable to hate (like children or polyamorous people, among others) is the canary in the coal mine for underlying bigoted beliefs. if you're only supportive of marginalized groups when it's cool to do so, probably you don't actually care about marginalized groups, you care about other people thinking you care
there are 1 trillion people in the notes of this post saying "yeah! i mean i hate kids but they should have rights!" you hate kids? you mean you hate all members of an oppressed group solely for their membership in this group? right. why do you hate them? because they can't take care of themselves and need help? because they don't understand social norms and can be "annoying" and disrespect boundaries as a result? because they can be messy? because they don't understand things in the same way as you do? that's awesome. how do you feel about disabled people btw

Yet again, transphobia is the lifeblood and binding force of modern fascism.
They're literally obsessed with us.
The Nazis were also obsessed with transgender folk, and everyone else they considered an offense to their "delicate" sensibilities. Or to put it simply if you weren't a blond-haired blue-eyed cisgendered heterosexual German you were going to die…someday. Here's a webpage with a short summary and a connected video:
Before 1933, Germany was a center of LGBT+ community and culture, with several renowned organizations serving and supporting trans and gende
And here is a very short summary:
I wonder if the other members of the Axis Powers ever processed that. Because the various Slavic nations, the Italians and the Japanese were also on the list of those to die.
The first target for Nazi book burnings was the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, which was a pioneering clinic for gender affirming care and where the first gender affirming surgeries were performed.
In May 1933, the Institut was raided, those in the clinic were arrested and most were executed. The library, with countless books on trans healthcare and queer social research, was declared "pornographic obscenity" (sound familiar?) and burned shortly after.
Most people are familiar with this image:
But very few of them have any idea it is of the burning of the library of the Insitut and of its association with an explicitly homophobic and transphobic pogrom. It's history has been actively erased by those with the same belief on queer people in the west to make it easier to persecute us now and make it more difficult to spot fascism.
This was the burning of Alexandria for queer people, but most either don't know or don't care.
Hey. Heyhey. Do me a favor real quick.
If you don't already know you have issues doing so, squat down real quick. Bend your knees all the way and touch the floor. Just make sure you can do it. Okay? For me? And then stand up all the way and make sure you can balance on one foot.
Like. You don't need to blow it into some huge thing. Just. Make sure all your bits and peices still work the way you think they do.
Can you turn your head to look behind you without twisting your shoulders? What about standing on your toes? If you sit down on the floor can you get back up without using your hands?
If there was ever a tumblr post worth sending to your mom, it's this one.
Just saying, bodies are a use it or lose it kinda thing.
okay so every time I see this post crop back up in queues and notifications I end up thinking about it. Because I made the post and even I'm still doing the thing where I read the post about maintaining range of motion in my delicate meatsuit and I nod and hmm and think yeah that's a good idea and then dont move from where I'm curled up shrimp style staring at the nightmare rectangle.
So like. Thinking real hard about moving doesn't count as moving. Major bummer. Anyways. Joints.
In light of recent events, I have begun submitting bug reports when I see mature content labels applied inappropriately to posts, especially if an appeal has been rejected.
Extremely good idea - how are you doing it? Through the contact us option?
Yeah it’s one of the options on the Contact Support form:
for what it's worth: after a few months of submitting help tickets as 'feedback' when i saw a post inappropriately flagged as mature, i tried following this suggestion instead. today i got my first-ever response from tumblr support on this issue, letting me know that a post i'd submitted a ticket before has had its mature content flag removed.
Hey it worked! Maybe if enough of us make a stink they’ll fix the fucking system.
This is legitimately brilliant. Bug burndown reports (the rate at which your software team can close bugs) is a major metric for most software houses.
It takes an extra step in our part, but this is part of what makes it effective. It's not one click, one reblog activism and it hits them where they care: their damn KPIs.
Have you used Electivire?
Yes, and would again
Yes, and might again
Yes, but wouldn't again
No, but would when possible
No, but might use them
No, and will not use them
I don't remember, but would
I don't remember, but might
I don't remember and will not
